Digitally remastered using a custom built, Dual-DAW, nicknamed Bertha, by jashley@eadacated.com.
Completed july 30, 2005.

The original source is from a monitor mix with a very narrow stereo channel.
The narrow stereo effect is common to monitor or house mixes.

The original source has audio level compression applied, as well as noise reduction.
Both were done well and did not result in any noticeable artifacts.

Recorded on a Tascam DR-07 mkIII with internal microphones, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz > hard disk > track split in CoolEdit (no
audio processing or amplitude modifications made).

Sitting facing centre stage about 2/3rds of way to back.  Excellent location and excellent view of stage.  There
was a frequent need to stand up to allow people with weak bladders to pass, hopefully didn't cause too many
bumps on the mic.

Sorry for stuffing up start of friends!  My fault in the heat of the moment.

(1-11): April 23, 1983.  Chapel Hill, NC.  Kenan Stadium.
(12): Unknown.

Comments: There seems to be some debate as to whether this is a soundboard or audience recording.  I'm going to go with the latter, since voices in the audience can be heard in the background from time to time.  The sound is very clear although not all that crisp.  There is an edit during the crowd noise between "40", after which the sound quality differs.  This would seem to suggest that Track 12 may be from a different recording.

Minor flaws include:

* A very light hiss in the background throughout
* Static and heavy channel swapping during "Gloria".
* "I Fall Down" is missing the last few notes.
* The right channel drops out several times during "11 O'Clock Tick Tock".
* Fade between "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" and "I Will Follow".
* Skip during "I Will Follow".

Comments:
Recorded live in Bourges, France at the Festival de Printemps on April 3rd, 1983.
This is a very nice complete soundboard recording, and includes a great rare performance of "Tomorrow".
There is some static during the musical peaks, and there is some background hiss but for such an old recording it's not bad.

I transfered this recording from unknown generation tape ,the sound quality isn't very good especially to the tracks 12-13-14,
there is also has an inconvenience: a strange feedback occurs in the transitions between most of the tracks.
The performance is strong, energetic. Bono seems to be "into it", adding snippets here and there: Billie Jean to Surrender,
Let's Twist Again to Two Hearts Beat As One, Yankee Doodle Dandy to The Electric Co.,Sunday Bloody Sunday to 40.
Mike Peters from the band The Alarm, and Stuart Adamson from support band Big Country join U2 on stage to do
a nice version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door.

Sound Quality:
Good to very good broadcast. Parts of this have a persistent high-pitched hum that accompanies The Edge's guitar and Bono's vocal track; can get a bit annoying.
Comments:

U2 put on a solid, high-energy performance for what Bono calls "the capital of Great Britain", which sends the audience ballistic. Bono messes up the lyrics a couple of times during the set, so he has to improvise a bit. I've have never come across any other live performance of "Tomorrow", although this recording appears on a couple of other bootlegs as a bonus track. Not a fantastic rendition of the song, but interesting as it features The Edge (I assume) playing a soprano recorder. Bono changes key in the middle of the song, which really kind of ruins it. At one point during the performance, Bono yells "Larry Mullen plays Yamaha drums!" "October" is not listed, but precedes "Tomorrow" on Track 9.

Per Pimm:

"Bono reminisces about U2's performance in this town three years earlier: 'We played a room at the top of a building; it was a place called the Beach Club and I loved this place.'  Lines from The Doors' Break on Through pop up in Electric Co."

It is probable that this torrent is a derivative of what Justin describes as a cassette converted to CDR by Dana Fletcher.  This impression is based upon the fact there is, indeed, a "noticeable edit" at 2:53 of I Will Follow.  As noted by Justin in his review, this concert "would be in the very good to excellent range if it were a bit more  clear and less distant."

We do need cover art for this one, none seems to exist.
