Townes Van Zandt 1989-04-06 Neusüdende (Pfingstfestival) Gasthof Lindenhof Germany

Townes Van Zandt
Neusüdende (Pfingstfestival)
Gasthof Lindenhof

*Notes- I've had this show on cdr for a long time. I've been digging
through boxes because I knew I had a couple Townes shows that hadn't
been shared online. I thought it was time to share this in lossless
format, since It hasn't been done before. This show is listed in the
db, however it's listed as only having 6 songs. I've listened to this
show & it's complete without any cuts or edits. This was also listed
as being part of a festival- "Pfingstfestival", but I have no way to
substantiate that unless someone who was at this show steps forward.
It sounds like there's a lot of people in the room.
Apparently there's film of this show as well. I can't say for sure
if this audio was taken directly from the dvd video, but it does sound
like an excellent audience recording to me. Townes doesn't talk to
much other than to correct somebody who hollers at the end of Blue
Wind Blew "play another Hank Williams song!" He also mentions that he
learned to play "Fraulein" for his dad. Although he doesn't talk much,
this is a top notch performance, with a few rarely played tunes.

1) Dollar Bill Blues
2) No Place To Fall
3) Buckskin Stallion Blues
4) Pancho and Lefty
5) Short Haired Woman Blues *Lightning Hopkins
6) Ain't Leavin' Your Love
7) Waitin' 'Round To Die
8) Kathleen
9) Rex's Blues
10) Lungs
11) Fraulein
12) To Live is to Fly
13) Marie
14) Snowin' On Raton
15) Blue Wind Blew
16) You Win Again *Hank Williams
17) T For Texas *Jimmie Rodgers
18) Lovers Lullaby
19) If I Needed You
20) White Freightliner Blues

22) Flyin' Shoes

This is the second of 2 Van Halen uploads for me, and again is another excellent soundboard recording burned directly from the silver CDs in a CDR trade.
This show is from the Balance Tour (aka the "Ambulance Tour" due to Eddie and Alex's numerous medical issues during that tour).  This concert was also the
opening night of the tour, and was partially shown on MTV as part of their Spring Break '95 coverage at the time.  A great, spirited performance from the band and
awesome, official release quality sound make this a must-have.

American Airlines Center was packed to the rafters for the return of Pearl Jam. I had not realized it
but Eddie was commenting that they had not been to Dallas in like 10 years. They definetely need to
come back more often. I really like the new album and was glad with the inclusion of the songs from Lightning
Bolt, but have to admit being disappointed that they did not play Even Flow or Yellow Ledbetter. I think they did
an admirable job on The Real Me.

I have been fighting a cold all week, downing the meds to make sure I was not sick at the show. Unfortunetly I
was not completely over it and there are a couple of spots where I cough pretty promentently on the recording
I did a pretty good job of fighting until it was between songs or the encore breaks but sometimes I just couldn't help it.
It is not anything that I think destroys the recording or anything but it is there. Probably worse during the  songs after
 the first encore break

Re-invaded version February 2013

Tracks 1 - 5 have been speed and pitch corrected by +1 semitone & finetuned by -55
Track 6 have been speed and pitch corrected by +1 semitone & finetuned by -78
Track 7 have been speed and finetuned by -5
Tracks 8 - 9 Unchanced
Tracks 10 - 11 have been speed and pitch corrected by -1 semitone & finetuned by -5
Tracks 12 - 13 "Innocent Exile" in particular was a mess! Both tracks have been speed and finetuned by -50, even though Innocent Exile goes back and forth in pitch and speed on several occasions.
Track 14 Pitch and speed corrected by +1 semitone/finetuned -60

Really an odd set of audio files. The difference in speed and pitch really bugs me. I figure that these files simply originate from more than one source. I am guessing 3.

The left channel was distorted and some db higher than the right. I've tried to correct that and remove that horrible humpf / crackle from the left channel.
I also tried to eq in a little extra bottom as well as some top.
It's not perfect, but hey - I am just an amateur.

The guitar solo, I am sure is actually two solos. Tony's being from 0:00 - 0:37.

Oh yeah - by the way - the first two sound files I had created (tracks 1 - 5 & the next track 6) turned out to be joined in bar 666 of my program!!!

Enjoy (or not)

Sony TCD D7 (@ 32khz) > OKM II rock > digital transfer with Sony DTC-ZE700 > optical cable Terratec EWX 2496 >
Soundforge 9.0 > CD Wave Editor > .wav > FLAC

Unfortunately the microphones' battery did not work - for this reason the qualiy is poor. There are overcompressions
and other flaws on the recording. The recording sounds distant though I recorded it at the right p. a. speaker system.

I have only seen an alternative recording by The Cranberries which sounds really good.

Who recorded Oasis and R.E.M. and can share it here?

Justdave's notes:
Great show from the Where I Should Be Tour, Peter and his band are in fine form. This is a vinyl rip done by our friend Draftervoi and what a fine job too. I meant to post this one a while ago and thought I had. I made CDs of this one and jammed it in the car for a week. It's still in one of my house CD players getting heavy rotation. You get some fantastic live performances with a few interview snippets here and there which have been chaptered so you can avoid them if you like. They only add up to 2 minutes 58 seconds so you still get an hour and a half of music. Trust me people You Need This!!

Many thanks to both draftervoi and justdave for making this recording's much appreciated!
