Bruce Springsteen 1975-07-29 Carter Barron Amphitheatre, Washington, D.C

another dusty ol' reel off the shelf...
got this in the mail in trade back in the 70s,
quality is quite good for this vintage, so i thought
i'd share it here while it's fresh on the hard drive.

there seems to be some ambiguity on brucebase.org regarding
the actual date of this recording, but having received
this low gen source shortly after the actual performance,
i am reasonably confident this date is accurate.

i couldn't find any record of this show on the dime bot,
and i've never heard any other versions of this recording,
so i can't offer any comparisons.  any upgrades welcome,
until then, enjoy!

"YesSongs2"

Recorded by: unknown
Remastered by: TheTooleMan January, 2005
Art by TheTooleMan (with involuntary contributions by Roger Dean)

There are two recordings of this show: one contains the entire concert except the encore, but it has several cuts in the music, lousy sound quality, and terrible speed problems. You become sea-sick from the constant pitch changes. This may seem appropriate for a live recording of Tales from Topographic Oceans, but it isn't desirable.

The other recording is this one. The bad news is that it only includes the four tracks from the new Yes album of early 1974, but the good news is that the quality is very good. The tape appears to have been made up close to the stage, a good thing since music recorded from across the arena at Madison Square Garden echoes like a sewer pipe.

There is a little distortion in the original recording. At some points the bass overrides the rest of the sound, and in a few cases the audio is overdriven, either from the sound system or the recorder. None of this is too severe, and I minimized it as much as possible through the remastering process. There is also some tape hiss apparent in quieter parts of the music. Noise reduction was used sparingly to reduce this noise, but not enough to significantly lower the high-frequency response of the original tape.

This same recording was used for the vinyl double album bootleg "The Affirmatives," though the quality of the tape copy used for that pressing ran too fast and sounded like an AM radio tuned off-center. On that album, The Remembering was faded out before it ended. On this copy of the tape, it runs to the end of the song.

The taper missed part of the introduction to The Ancient. I substituted the lower-quality tape here, as it contained the full introduction.

Usually, I undersell my remasters as I don't like hype and prefer people to listen and draw their own conclusions. I like to tell you all the little wrinkles and imperfections in the source so you know I didn't overlook them or cause the sound to be worse than the original. In this case, and modesty aside, I will say that this remastered recording will blow your hair off.

Yes stopped playing all four sides of Tales after their Detroit show on February 28, 1974. Considering that this is the best recording of a complete live performance of the double album, I took the liberty of naming it as if it was the intended follow-up to their live triple disk vinyl album, "YesSongs."

I give you "YesSongs 2"

SPOT an I are old (very) friends
SPOT records a lotta Dylan shows and passes them on to me to upload
I AM NOT SPOT, But its always me doing the uploading

He is a compulsive browser though so do comment he loves to read em.
Its quite important that we acknowledge these peoples efforts, I hear from
mates who say that Bobs playing the same set all the time is discouraging.
That may well be so, and if it is, thats all the more reason to show them that we
appreciate that they are working  maybe with posterity more than pleasure in mind.
So when you play this recording which you are getting for nothing remember the
efforts and expense that was required for it to reach you.   Sermon over!
Good on yah guys!

The first side of the tape had heavy clipping. This was restored somewhat.
Pride And Joy had the left channel pretty shredded, & so did Little Wing(what a shame)
on the flip side. Also there were numerous dead spots thruout the show,
mostly on the left channel. I patched these over best I could.
Removed a lot of talking close to the mics, as well as the "lead
whistler" & howler, especially when they were competing with Stevie's playing.

Sony PCM-M10 Linear PCM Recorder (internal mics, auto levels, low-sensitivity mic setting) > cdwav > TLH (FLAC 6) > DIME > you

No time for samples today, but please download with utmost confidence.. this is an excellent capture.

What else is there to say... an incredible evening in the presence of greatness. His Bob-Ness and his well-oiled band delivered a spot-on performance to
an entralled and attentive group of the faithful, who were about as quiet and respectful as our friends in the Far East. Bravo Durham !

While this isn't a SPOT recording, which hopefully will follow soon, I believe that you will find this to be an extraordinary capture (at least considering that
I use the internal mics on the PCM-M10). There is nary a whistle or hollar from anywhere around me - or for that matter - from the entire audience. In my opinion,
this one sounds fantastic.. until the SPOT recording pops up at least ...

Setlist : as if you need to ask.. please note that the "guitar riffs" are part of the first track of the set and track 18 is the crowd during the encore..

Do what you want with this, except sell it for goodness sake... because that ain't cool...

The Eagles 1977-03-21 Capital Centre Largo, Maryland

Here's a superb soundboard of part of The Eagles show from Largo, Maryland back in 1977. This obviously isn't the complete show because there are only eight songs. This is reportedly from a DVD rip but I've yet to see this video anywhere before. As excellent and this rip sounds, I hope to find the video from it too soon.

LINEAGE:
DVD > DVD audio rip > WAV > FLAC > TLH > you

DETAILS:
Artist: The Eagles
Date: March 21st, 1977
Location: Largo, Maryland
Venue: Capital Centre
Source: SB
Format: FLAC
CD: 1
Artwork:No
Label: None
Title: Live At The Capital Centre March 1977
Size: 330 MB

SETLIST:
01. Hotel California
02. New Kid In Town
03. Take It To The Limit
04. One Of These Nights
05. Lyin' Eyes
06. Rocky Mountain Way
07. Best Of My Love
08. Take It Easy

I'd really like to find the complete soundboard for this show. I imagine this is about half of the show. I'd need to look at some other 1977 The Eagles shows to see what songs are most likely missing. But if you want a super sounding, incomplete version of the show; then here it is. If anyone has any leads on where to find the full show's audio and/or the video from this concert, please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I've been back for a week now from my two weeks of vacation and should be back to uploading shows daily withing a few days to a week.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Acceptable sound for a 1981 recording. Minor skips  from track to track, but a nice recording despite it's not the complete concert. After Angel of mercy, Mark Knopfler says: "It's the Dire Straits Rock 'n Roll orchestra!".

3rd Gen > standalone CDR recorder > CDR > xACT (extraction) > Sound Studio (retrack, amplify slightly) > xACT (FLAC level 5) > Dime > You

This is not my cassette extraction, it comes from the vast library of Bill Brown.
One of the overlooked gems of the tour, likely because it was recorded with less-than-stellar equipment on a single 120min cassette. (For those going back that far this means Low Bias)
There are some rough spots near the leader as the tape flips in RSOG and the whole thing cuts off shortly into Ritual, but everything else is there and clear enough for the tales aficionado to enjoy. Certainly the performance of the Remembering tonight will indeed make it worth your time.

No speed-tampering or audio tweaking has been done to the original product here. This is not a high-fidelity tape. What you get is what's in the box. Take it or leave it.

Support the Band. Buy their stuff. Trade the live audience recordings freely & turn your friends on to this kind of music.

Please try to remember:

A) The lifespan of a cassette tape is not forever. In the grand scheme of things, magnetic media does not last long at all, and cassette tape life is from ten to thirty years, depending on storage. Remember, it is simply a plastic tape that carries a thin coating of magnetic material, usually iron oxide, on which a varying magnetic pattern is imposed during recording.

B) Like this show, a lot of tapes were traded to other collectors, thus receiving generational lineage beyond the Master Cassette. So a tape of a tape of a tape and all, may mean that some collectors have better-preserved or longer-lasting copies, even if the generation is unknown. Hence, CASSETTE tape copies, not CDRs of some of the shows may need to be examined to try to preserve some of this material.

C) The time is NOW! information is being lost, shedding away in boxes in basements. Please make a concerted effort to make clean digital transfers (hopefully better than this one) of some of these tapes. Discus among yourselves.

Enjoy the show!

Roundabout

Recorded by Tom on a Sony mono cassette recorder with built-in mic
(Yours Is No Disgrace was played as a second encore at this show, but was not recorded by Tom)
Tape transfer by Joey 11/2006
Mastered for CD by TheTooleMan 12/2006

I was excited and honored when Fred contacted me with news that his friend Tom had an uncirculated recording of a Yes concert which was thought to have never been recorded. Would I like to have a shot at mastering it and presenting it to the world? YES!

Fred sent me a copy of the recording that was made on a stand-alone CD recorder. While the audio quality was good, I was disappointed to find that the original tapes have considerable speed irregularities, probably resulting from low batteries.

The original tapes were transferred again by Joey, who created a 24-bit 48 kHz digital version. I applied speed correction, EQ, and dynamics with Sound Forge and Vegas.

Considerable work went into correcting the random speed changes, and I could probably spend the rest of my life correcting every minor speed fluctuation in this recording. While I was able to fix most of the major problems, some wow and flutter remains. Roundabout suffers the most, and was very difficult to correct. I added an effect to the end of the song to characterize the exhausted batteries dying on the final note.

Now for the even more exciting news: Fred also recorded the same show. It will be seeing the light of day soon, after 30 years of storage. I am hopeful it will be of better quality overall, although this recording is quite listenable as it is now.

Notes

Light hiss removal using iZotope RX2 denoiser tool.
Running too fast, speed correction with factor of 98%.

Tape flip between Life On Mars? and Sorrow - seamless.
First four bars of China Girl appear to be missing (though very well disguised) on source tape, left alone.
Break between Scary Monsters and Rebel Rebel.  Fade-out/in, but both very slightly clipped.

Tape flip between Young Americans and Hang On To Yourself - seamless.
Damage to left channel on TVC 15 @ 3:20 - repaired from right channel.
Two gaps in the encore break between TVC 15 and The Jean Genie removed - crowd noise only.
Small gap at the start of Modern Love - which takes out first two bars of the intro.
The tail end of Modern Love is quite scruffy, with dull sound and then some tape crumple - all on source tape.

11. Modern Love

Notes

Tiny bit fast.  Speed corrected with factor of 98%.

Tape flip between Loving The Alien and China Girl.  Bit close, trims the fade on Peter's guitar on the former.  Fade-out/in.
Cut from crowd noise at end of Fashion to start of Scary Monsters - clips the start of Scary Monsters.  Fade-out/in.
Tape flip between Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family and 87 & Cry - seamless.
Gap between Beat Of Your Drum and Sons Of The Silent Age (crowd noise).  Fade-out/in to join.
Gap removed between Dancing With The Big Boys and Zeroes.  Crowd noise only.
Tape flip between Zeroes and Let's Dance, which is at quite a scruffy bit on the tape as well.  Joined successfully, crowd noise a little messy.
Gap between Let's Dance and Fame - joined, tight to start of intro to Fame.

* Arcorman sent this through, stated to be and labelled as his master tape.  As 100PCB pointed out during the transfer, however, there were joins in the tape that suggested that this was not literally the case.
I'm assuming that, like recordings I did at the time, Arcorman had "working tapes" that he reused to make raw recordings, then would do a first gen transfer to tidy up and use as his "master".
So while it's the closest to the master that will exist, it's probably more accurately termed first gen.

Notes

iZotope RX2 denoiser for hiss
Running fast - speed correction with factor of 96%

Strange tiny breaks in sound in crowd noise between What In The World and Be My Wife.  The three most significant removed, remainder left as is.
Volume correction on master in Be My Wife @ 1:55.  Smoothed a little to reduce impact.
Abrupt join between Blackout and Sense Of Doubt (the first half of which is missing) is on source tape.
Cut between Beauty and the Beast and Fame is on source tape, just tidied up a little.
Ziggy Stardust cuts out at 1:30 - fade-out.
Gap removed @ 7:48 in Station To Station - some music lost.  Further gap removed in crowd noise between Station To Station and Stay (encore break) - note that timbre of sound is different after this break.
Two tape pauses removed from crowd noise between TVC 15  and Rebel Rebel

Note that this is a different recording from that in the "Breaking Glass" bootleg.

40th Anniversary Edition

Lineage: unknown recording -> audio CD -> EAC -> TheTooleMan (Sound Forge) -> FLAC

Here is a rarely-seen recording of Yes on their momentous Tales from Topographic Oceans tour. The recording is very rough and has a few lengthy gaps. It probably should be considered "for completists only." It is historically important, however, because it captured a complete Rick Wakeman solo; these solos were only performed in a couple of early shows from the tour. None of the other tracks in this recording is complete.

This is basically the unaltered transfer I received from a collector who has a number of rare recordings. I have only removed one digital click from the first track and broken up track four of the CD into three separate tracks, since it contained parts of three songs.

Tracks:
1. Firebird Suite (with gap) (3:18)
2. Siberian Khatru (with gap) (9:43)
3. And You And I (9:51)
4. Close to the Edge (7:36)
5. Rick Wakeman solo (5:22)
6. The Revealing Science of God (with gap) (3:31)

==================================================================

Neil Young performed a secret show with Willie Nelson’s sons last Thursday night, with just over 450 in attendance.

Neil performed many new songs,  giving the crowd a taste of what's to come.

Basically testing out material for the new Album and Tour that will be coming later this year.

For the first set,  the Zoom recorder malfunctioned and only recorded onto the left channel.

I copied the left channel into the right channel.  Tracks 1 - 6 are now 2 channel mono.

The remainder of the recording is 2 channel stereo.

Neil starts set 2 with 'Walk On',  but it wasn't recorded.  This starts abruptly into 'Monsanto Years'.

A big thanks goes to the taper who had just enough time and was close enough to rush over and buy a ticket and record it.

Sending his recording over my way for editing and uploading.

This is the first and maybe only source for this secret gig.

Neil was backed by The Nelson Brothers and other members of Willie Nelson's band.

Lukas Nelson - Guitar
Jacob Micah Nelson  - Guitar
Corey McCorkmick - Bass
Anthony Logerfo — Drums

I got this recently. I don't know the generation - sounds like 2nd or
3rd. It's got a little hiss,  however it's a pretty good recording.
The sound is full and detailed. This isn't one of the normal 1973
shows that floats around, so hopefully this fills a gap in some
collections. I'd love to find the master on this one. Anyone?

ONE show, held in the 1,500-seat Widener Field House, with Springsteen & The E Street Band the sole act on the bill. This second night at Widener was a sellout.
Video from this show has been in circulation since at least the late 1970's. The detail surrounding this video production has long been a source of speculation. For
many years the circulating specimens of the footage were uniformly poor in quality. However portions of the video were shown in Spingsteen TV documentaries in
the 1990's and the quality was significantly better than anything seen before in collecting circles. This has lent weight to a long held rumor that this footage (far from
emanating from a shadowy fan) may have been shot by Widener students involved in a film making course - and that there may have been some pre-arranged
conditional approval to film the concert from the Springsteen camp.

The partial setlist mentioned above is from an audio source generally believed to be directly associated with the film footage (i.e., a soundtrack). Portions of the film
footage are known to have been circulating among the Widener community as early as 1976. As is the case with the video footage, there are numerous bootlegged
variations of the audio source in circulation, of varying quality and individual track completeness. However these "variations" seem to be minor - all incorporate the
same 9 songs from a show that featured approximately 16 songs in total.

As requested, here's the audio from the Widener DVD 'High On A Mountain Of Love'. The February 6 portion is untouched and unmolested, so what you get here is exactly what was on the DVD, warts and all. The quality starts off pretty good, but deteriorates during the final two songs as the filmer moves closer to the stage. Tracks 11-13 are from the second Widener show and were uncirculated prior to the release of the Widener DVD. They are presented here in a lossless format for the first time.

Released in 1998 from Japanese famous bootlegger. Infamous
Gypsy Eye's very first RUSH release. Both "Rushian Roulette"
and "A Right to Passage" were already out of print at that
time and this one got some demand for sure.

Now, there is upgrade version of this recording available
so there is no reason to grab this except for its historical
value.

Then, originally this title has track 9 as bonus track but
that track sourced "All the World a Stage" so removed.

constant source of confusion. Research by Godwin and Lewis indicates that two shows were
performed on March 14, an early evening performance in Stockholm, followed by an 11:00pm show
in Upsala. Press clippings in Godwin's "Press Reports" confirms these facts. However, Luis Rey
attributes the available soundboard and audience tapes to the Copenhagen performances two days
later. -www.zeppelinart.com
