Neil Young & Stephen Stills 1976-06-26 Boston Garden, Boston, Mass.

This is a complete audience recording of the June 26, 1976, show by the Stills-Young Band. This was widely booted as a single disc called "Evening Coca-Nuts," which was missing many of the songs. This is the complete version from a boot called "Both the Great Men, Part 1." On sound quality, I rate it an A compared with other audience recordings of that era. Very nice. In a few parts that don't sound so good (e.g., "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes"), it's because of a sloppy performance rather than a poor recording. Most of this is really nice, IMHO.
Since it's from a commercial boot, I don't know details of the recording. If anyone wants to claim credit for recording this, please do so.
   Artwork is included.

Boot CD > CDR > EAC > wav > FLAC Level 8

   Enjoy!

2 Complete '88 shows! I remember that someone wanted this to be torrented some time ago.. so here it is.
One interesting thing about this bootleg is the "Sweet Child O' Mine" demo on the second disc, up to this point we have never had a demo of scom.
(I included this demo on the argentina dvd I torrented a while back)

David Bowie - Dublin 1995-11-24, audience dvd

The Point Depot, Dublin

Author: steve23yh
Video Source: audience - original recording by Andre James Fantarrow
Lineage: first generation VHS > direct VHS-DVD transfer > DVD created using Ulead DVD Movie Factory V4
Menu: yes
Chapters: yes
Transfer Rate: 7mb/s
Format: PAL / 25fps
Audio: Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Number of Discs: 1
Disc Type: DVD5
Total Running Time: 1:21:51

Notes: Bought this one on eBay, the seller faithfully reporting that it was first gen from the master.  As the VHS art (attached) shows, the original taper was Andre James Fantarrow.

Transferred by direct wire from VHS to DVD recorder, then recompiled using Ulead Movie Factory.

Worth recanting the notes from the original:

"Amateur film, filmed from the left side balcony.  Very steady, kness (sic) up close, great view.  Four songs missing (security bust) still filmed the end."

The four songs (and it's actually five) would have been between I Have Not Been To Oxford Town and Strangers When We Meet, and were: Outside, Andy Warhol, The Man Who Sold The World, A Small Plot Of Land and Boys Keep Swinging".  It's apparent that he also ran out of tape part way through My Death, so the second half of that, plus DJ are missed.

Pretty good camerawork, however, and an excellent view.  Happy with the transfer too.

notes: A cool homecoming show for Duff. Axl mentions that 'Sweet Child O' Mine' is their new video. Either Slash or Izzy plays a bit of Van Halen's 'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love' during introductions. Axl recounts playing the Gorilla Gardens a few years ago and they the best pot is in Seattle. He also says that he started writing 'Welcome To The Jungle' while he was in Seattle. 'Nightrain' wins out when Axl asks the crowd to vote for it or 'Paradise City.'

Additional comments

Rare recording, unfortunately containing only the middle part of the concert. The sound is a little bit 'dark' sometimes, but fairly good. At the end of track 4, there's the intro of Two young lovers in a kind of Elvis style and Mark Knopfler sings: "I'm all shook up". Then they stop playing and continue again after the cheers of the audience. Great performance of The man's too strong. The saxophone intro is missing on Wild west end unfortunately. Nice introduction on Tunnel of love: "Alright, one of the best rock 'n roll drummers in the game: mister Terry Williams!".

Notes:
Last show of the North American leg of the "Alive II" tour. According to "KISS Alive Forever!", much to Peter Criss' amusement, KISS' tour manager suited up as Gene Simmons and slipped behind Peter's kit right as it began its ascent during the end of "Black Diamond". Gene looked up for his cue and about had a heart attack, unhooked his bass (sending it crashing to the floor), and exited the stage (while almost falling off of it due to walking in the wrong direction).

love the gems they've added to the setlist this time around.  Recorded from lower pavilion
section 102 row Z.  Unlike the KWS opening set, the crowd around me was well-behaved, so there's
very little interference from them.  As for the performance, like most reviews so far, the band
sounds amazing.  Dave is hit and miss, but we're just glad to have him.  Enjoy!

notes: Axl tells the crowd they'll be filming a video for 'Sweet Child O' Mine' when they go back to L.A. Before 'Used To Love Her,' Axl says that Sam Kinison "kind of" inspired the song. Axl says that when Paul Stanley of Kiss was interested in producing the band he said that 'Welcome To The Jungle' needed to be re-written in order to be a "pop" hit. Needless to say Paul Stanley never worked with GN'R. This is the first documented performance of 'Only Women Bleed' by Slash. For an unknown reason Axl leaves towards the end of 'Nightrain' and the band finishes the show without him.

NOTES:

Many thanks go out to J. Langdon for opening up his tape collection for the Langdon Tapes Series releases.
The tapes were transfered via a Nakamichi CR-7A deck with manual playback azimuth adjustment on both sides of each tape.
No noise reductions were used during playback and bias setting was matched for each tape.  Each tape was unpacked before playback.
The A>D conversion was done by a Sony PCM-R500 DAT deck with Super Bit Mapping on and at 48kHz sampling frequency.
The DATs were converted to cdr on a Sony CDR-W33 CD writer via the S/PDIF connection.
Thereafter, the CDRs were extracted to a SCSI harddrive using a Plextor SCSI cdrom and EAC (secure) for remastering.

Several amplitude adjustments were made to even out the show.
EQ: slight LF boost, vocal boost & HF boost for some crispness.
Several single channel dropouts were repaired.  Tape flips mended as best as I could.
Removed/reduced some loud audience noise. Finally, the entire show was normalized to 0dB.

Few notes about the recording. Kaye's solo faded in on the tape and leads into Rabin's "Solly's Beard".
By the end of the show, the recording becomes really saturated especially from "City of Love" to the end.
There is very little stereo separation in the recording, almost sounding mono in some places.
The Looney Tunes cartoons are not short, but I decided to keep them for amusement sake.
Lastly, the crowd noise is very loud at times with whistles, much handclapping and overall loud crowd noise.

Please do not convert to MP3 or other lossy formats and TRADE FREELY.

Orig.upped by Enlight on KnopflerTK (2010-04-17)

All tracks are volume-normalized separate, using an adaptive mode ( no peak to peak or replaygain is used)! Stereo has been slightly vitalized with 5-10 % max. Loudness is dynamic prozessed in a soft mode, some eq change are carefully made, this make's the sound more "CLEAR" and Balanced this improves the sound and gives more room too the seperate instruments .
Nothing has been edited or add to the original source, for tapers respect (no taper-no upgrade)

commentsJ V.Tol:

Fairly good sounding recording.

the complete set of that evening.

Nice of Mark to change the lyrics a bit on So far away:

"Here I am again in old Rotterdam
Yeah, you're so ar away from me
Do what I do
Yeah, I am what I am
And you're so far away from me, thank you!"

Dire Straits also nicely played the typical Dutch song Tulpen uit Amsterdam, on which the audience sings along.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enlight Note:

A great atmosphere show, from my homeland in 1985

played in Ahoy ,where Mark did the 2011-Oct-20Th (supporting Bob)gig.
so for the man who was screaming for old Dire straits stuff, here you are(sorry no "telegraph road")

Mark is full energy and the audience also.

"So far Away" is a solid version, and great to have this song in a nice (AUD)quality.
"Fans gotta walk" Mark yells during the intro of "Walk of Life", following with a stunning version.
Great to hear "The man’s too strong"

Although it's tricky to play "tulps from Amsterdam" in Rotterdam :-) , music-fans doesn't seems to matter and singing it along from the heart.

After listening this concert after a long time i like to say..........thank youuuuuuuu Dire Straits

Sorry no art

Take Care and be who you are

Additional comments:
There are two versions of this recording.
The recording "Live in Brussels 1985" is taken from the rare original bootleg LP called "Live in 85"
which was originally thought to have been recorded at Showgrounds, Mackay,
Australia on 31st March 1986 and has pretty good sound. This recording ("Live in Belgium 1985") is a poor sounding, rare audience recording from 27th May 1985.
It turned out that both recordings were made at Forest National, Brussels, Belgium from the latter date of 27th May 1985.
It appears that they were recorded seperately, because the quality from the bootleg LP is much, much better than this counterpart recording.
Very rare to hear Mark play wrong on Brothers in arms at a moment on this concert!
Complete concert except for the first song Ride across the river which is missing.
Only get this full concert if you are a real die hard fan....the sound is really poor from half way through Romeo and Juliet onwards.

etree lists shows for Feb. 2 and 4th and March 7 at this location.
I don't know which if any of those is the exact date of this show
(only the Feb. 2 show gives a setlist, and it matches this one.)
but I'll bet the GNR fans will be able to help clarify that here.
they mention being there before, and a song in here (mama kin,
previously by Aerosmith) being on their "live... suicide" EP so
this is obviously a later version of it than that one. This is
a complete FM broadcast, although possibly an edited one since
even in 1988, several GNR shows ran longer than 65 min.
I looked in the discography for Guns and Roses, it lists one
album of "live era 87-93" but did not say what shows are included
in it. I checked an unofficial discography, as well as the
official one in the wikipedia and all they said about the location
was "at various live shows" all other live releases I saw were
from later years than this show which is (I think) an appetite
for destruction show, probably the only tour I've ever liked even
a little from this band. the album came out in 1987, but was followed
by a long tour and a rather quick jump into "arena rock" after that.
Singer Axl Rose's style is an acquired taste, and it may take quite
awhile for some to acquire that taste, but millions have all over the
world. hopefully the future years will bring more roses than guns,
but whatever they bring, with their new CD "Chinese Democracy" being
unleashed on Nov. 23, 2008, (their 1st new music release since 1991),
there's gonna be an appetite for some live GNR. I don't have much,
(and don't want much) so hopefully this thing has not been released!
I don't believe it has or I would not post it. They haven't toured
in awhile, although they were quite busy in 1988, and played alot
of shows, I haven't seen much of them up, and I know alot of people
like them. Honestly, I don't really like them much, except that some
of what they say is pretty relevant.
If you're looking for graceful, gentle or glam rock,
this is not your kind of torrent.
if you like it loud, raw and hard, you'll probably like this one.
do not sell this recording.
you can buy (and sell) guns, or roses.
But not guns AND roses.
(that's American democracy.)

comments J.V.Tol:

Fairly good sounding recording
the complete set of that evening.
Great 19 minute version of Tunnel of love
very nice improvisation by the band just before Going home.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments Pyroman:

Pretty good audience recording,
complete recording.
Containing The Man's Too Strong.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An early concert from the first month of the 85/86 tour in my homeland(not counting the 2 April gigs).

The tour started on April 25, 1985  in Yugoslavia  after Brothers in Arms release in May 1985 and ended in Sydney on April 26, 1986 .

Dire Straits visited 23 countries, 117 cities and played for more than two and a half million people.

All 248 shows were sold out.!!

This show is one of the best performance , Mark is very releaxed, sings different tunes during a lot of songs than normally (not out of tune!),
also instrumentally the songs are different than later on in the tour.very nice to hear those difference.

Mark makes a lot of little lyrics changes!

And what about Mark singing "they could have killed my baby"(9.42min) during "Tunnel of love" ?

**)money for nothing is still uncensored and very raw (instrumentaly wise) , Mark's sings "faggot" three times in a row. **(see the controversy note below.)

Mark seems to be a little confused at the beginning of "wild west end", kill me if i am wrong(softly please), but Mark start playing his dobro-guitar like
he wanted to play the intro of "portobello belle"

The band is full energy.... just like the audience. Nice to hear "The mans too strong" , and "so far away" during this early stage of the tour.
great "two young lovers"

The band introduction during "Tunnel of love" is stunning!!!After that the audience sings the rest of the lyrics and sweeps Mark with clapping and some "rythmic-yelling" to a killing outro solo!

The improvation jam ,which the band starts cause the audience spontaneously starts to humm a tune, is breath taking, and gives me shivers, one of the many highlights from that evening!!(listen sample)

**)

money for nothing....the controversy

The observations of the character included references to a musician "banging on the bongos like a chimpanzee" and a description of a singer as "that little faggot with the earring and the make-up", and lamenting that the artists got "money for nothing and chicks for free". These lyrics were widely criticised as sexist, racist and homophobic statements, and in some later releases of the song the lyrics were edited for airplay; "faggot" for example is often replaced with "mother" (itself a shortened version of another potentially offensive phrase in this context).

When the song is included in rotation as part of a music feed played in stores or restaurants, "faggot" is usually turned backwards. The entire second verse was edited out for content and length for radio and video airplay, and on the 7" single. This edited version is included in the compilation albums Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits and Money for Nothing.

In a late 1985 interview in Rolling Stone magazine, Knopfler expressed mixed feelings on the controversy:

“ I got an objection from the editor of a gay newspaper in London - he actually said it was below the belt. Apart from the fact that there are stupid gay people as well as stupid other people, it suggests that maybe you can't let it have so many meanings - you have to be direct. In fact, I'm still in two minds as to whether it's a good idea to write songs that aren't in the first person, to take on other characters.”

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, in an interview with Blender Magazine, claimed that the song is actually about his band's excessive lifestyle, and that he heard the clerks in the store were commenting on Mötley Crüe videos shown on the in-store television sets.

A requested show, which made me glad and full enthousiasm before upping (thats why i love requests, it can "force" you to listen to gigs which were out of mind for a time) so thx for the request!!

Additional comments:
A reasonable sounding audience recording from one of the first concerts of the Brothers in Arms world tour 1985-1986. There is a fair ammount of echo which suggests that the person recording the concert was a fair way back in the Hall. Great version of Tunnel of love with nice ad-libbing after band intro section. Complete Concert. Available on two CD-R's.

HERE'S THE 16 BIT VERSION. THE BASS IS WHAT IT IS. CAN'T DO MUCH MORE WITHOUT DEGRADING. I THINK IT SOUNDS BETTER NOW BUT BE WARNED ESPECIALLY AT SONG END.

Utter friggin joy. Smile never left my face. Seeing songs I'd never thought I'd see and hear live. Alex was on friggin fire!
Now the recording was a challenge for the ENTIRE show. Seucurity caused a brief cut at beginning of Anarchist. Besides that I had a clear lane for the
recorder. Now I had the buddy security guard who came and hung out by me for the last 20 minutes of the show so you'll hear subtle changes. The Key's bass was
horrible as usual and I had to reduce some bass as the ending of every song was overdriven.I left the Cygnys section as one complete track as it was to magical to
to splice! Hopefully more sources show up for the show. Best time I've ever seen them. Going out on absolute top!
