"The artwork on this one shows that World Productions didn't know what they were doing although it is quite unique. This is the only opaque jewel case I have ever
seen. First the title BAGDAD has nothing to do with Black Sabbath. The printed information was essentially correct. The photos inside include four "incorrect" band
photos from Diary of a Madman and the "Diary" Ozzy solo lineup. Now that's not exactly what I call Black Sabbath from 1974. The sound is edited and is lacking
the low end that CANNABIS CONFUSION has."

Or if you like, check out the unedited version of the text that is on SABBATHLIVE...

This is one of the most commonly bootlegged shows in Sabbath's live history and has been available for many years.  The lion’s share of these bootlegs originates
from the “soundboard” tape.  The 2nd source is ABC’s In Concert TV and Radio broadcasts, which only contains 5 songs from the show.  Most copies of this
version come from people who taped one of these broadcasts.

Many feel that version #1 tape is from a soundboard, because of the clarity of the vocals, guitar and drums.  Also, there is very little crowd noise, which is another
 trademark of a true soundboard.

..edit (BC)...

The original tape had some minor flaws, but this is still quite a good recording overall.  My main gripe about this tape is that you can't hear Geezer's bass!  He was
probably so loud on stage that they saw little point in pumping him through the PA.  Or maybe it was just poorly mixed.  Anyhow, all you can really hear is Ozzy,
Bill and Tony.

In a 4/7/74 article in the Los Angeles Times, it is mentioned that ABC had a $1.3 million dollar budget to produce the TV specials for Cal Jam.  It also said that
they had filmed the entire event, so there is quite a good chance that the complete show for Sabbath does exist on video.

While portions of the show were broadcast live via ABC-TV and various radio stations, the entire show did not air.  Some of the reason for this might have to do
with Ozzy's stage banter, which was often drug related! Throughout the show, Ozzy exclaimed such things as "Are you high?  Are you HIGH?  SO AM I!!" and
"Clap your hands everybody, let's get stoned!" [both from the intro to "Killing Yourself To Live"].  Yet at other times, he actually tried to censor himself.  At the
beginning of "Snowblind", where he usually makes a point to say "this song is about COCAINE", he says instead, "We're gonna do a number now about
something we can't talk about.  It's a number called 'Snowblind'".  Before "Sabbra Cadabra", Ozzy remarks, "I can't say too much, we're on the telly!"  Regardless
of Ozzy's attempts to mellow his drug talk, I'm sure the ABC producers were still too nervous to include too much Sabbath on the air!

Nevertheless, Ozzy's stage chatter was always one of the highlights of the Cal Jam tapes for me!  It's hard not to crack a smile while he's working the crowd.
At one point, you can hear him muttering, "Wow, I've never seen so many people in my life, man!" as he gazes over the crowd of a half million people.  It's
important to note here that many of these bootlegs have omitted most of Ozzy's talking and song intros, so try to find one that doesn't.  I know for a fact that
METAL MESS is largely uncut, but I'll have to check the rest to be sure.  I know that CANNABIS CONFUSION is edited, but the source tape sounds a bit
cleaner than METAL MESS.

The bands performance is a bit rusty in places, but they still rocked the Cal Jam!  Tony and Bill lose sync after the first verse of "Tomorrow's Dream" and you
can hear Tony flub a bit of the outro solo for "War Pigs", but hey, he's usually rock solid!
