This installment of Big Star (One Original Member) was organized to mark the 50th anniversary of their album Radio City, which meant playing it all the way through, but in the middle of a set starting several songs not on that album and before even more songs not on it either. But never mind all that: This was a group of super-talented musicians who clearly absolutely love the work of Big Star and want to honor it in the best way possible, making for a fun evening celebrating some great music. And there were plenty of stories about the late Alex Chilton and Bell and Andy Hummel as well, and even if Jody Stephens went on a bit during his, can you really blame him?
This was recorded from the left balcony of White Eagle Hall with cardioid mics pointed just outside the speaker stacks - I'm very happy with the results, with good stereo separation and very little close crowd noise. Enjoy!
