NOTES:
This was the last day of a 3 day festival in front of a huge festival crowd - about 50,000 people?
There is lots of karaoke sing along, talking and general excitement.
It was windy and the sound was blown around.
It is a great souvenir if you were there and otherwise one for the completists.

Patches:
lst 30 seconds of Down By The River
all of the encore Barstool Blues

This is a definitive version of the Heidelberg 1976 show.  The recording came out very well considering the equipment available in the mid-70s.  In those days people were not standing to watch a show but rather would sit down.  Thus it was easy to put the microphone on the floor and get a decent recording.  It worked very well for the acoustic part but due to some smoke coming from our place an American GI noticed it and came over and sat next to us for the electric set.  He was not one of the quiet kind.  The missing part of Down By The River happened because I flipped the tape over.  The encore is missing on my recording because everyone was getting up and rushing to the stage so I had no chance to get my equipment set up again.

Fortunately some 15 years later I found out that the famous German taper HB also taped this show but his unfortunately has weaker sound quality.  Still it was nice to fill in the missing gaps.

This show still contains an unreleased song Sad Movies aka Day and Night We Walked These Aisles.

For your pleasure I have included pictures of the poster and tour advertisement.  You can also see the equipment I used.

Comment:

Great second concert of the Japanese Jazz Tour 1979. It has very good sound quality, so it's highly enjoyable. It features the complete concert. Only the Guitar Solo has a cut in the middle as the tape was probably changed. Nice concert overall and really nice to have. A few tiny clicks can be heard here and there and the pitch runs a bit slow, but nothing major. CD copy from master tape. I have another source of this concert with better sound quality. No copy errors. Not from mp3.

Queen 1979-02-28 03-01 Pavillion de Paris Paris, France

venue: France, Paris, Pavillion de Paris
date: compilation of three night (Feb 27, 28 and March 1st)
quality: EX SBD

some site said this one contains only March 1st.
but it's definitely guess wrong.
I compared audience recording of the Feb 28 and March 1st with this.
at least, without doubt, this is 3 nights compilation.
but track order is just the same that March 1st show (though Typical medley, Love Of My Life, '39, It's Late, Brighton Rock, Keep Yourself Alive and usual 2nd encore is cut)

01. Thunderbolt And Lightning (intro)
02. We Will Rock You (fast)

I don't usually source shows that are not from my masters, but this is an
exception. I just got this from a UK Eric Clapton collector who
follows the Japanese bootleg releases. This recording of the first
Budokan show of 1976 Japanese Tour is from a previously uncirculated
master. This is a recent release from the apparently exclusive Tarantura
label and is supposed to be direct from the original cassette masters.  Zuma11
seeded the 3-3-76 Nagoya show a few weeks ago and this Budokan show is
supposedly from the same taper.

The sound is very good.  I've been told this is better then the Nagoya show but
I think I prefer the Nagoya.

I Just got this show from a little record store near where I live. While the sound quality is EX there are a few flaws with this source. 1) The very beginning (and I do mean the first 2 or 3 notes) of By-Tor and the Snow Dog are cut off. 2) There is a minor tape eat at 0:51 of By-Tor. 3) There is a minor dropout during Neil's solo. With the exception of those flaws this show does sound quite good & at least it is on a normal CD.    (2001-10-27)

Ron's Rush RoIO Review

The legendary St. Louis concert! This is the definitive "Permanent Waves" tape, featuring a rare live "Natural Science." The rest of the songs sound very tight and the band is definitely up for this show. As is mentioned below, there is some controversy surrounding the date. Originally, this was thought to be from 2/14/80. However, several sources disputed this date. In my own experience, I met a fan named Dave Steiner (a great trader, by the way), who told me he was actually at one of the St. Louis PeW shows. He said that the correct dates are Feb 11-13, 1980, and seemed quite adamant about this detail. He wasn?t sure what night or nights were actually used for the broadcast. When the Rush Tour Dates List was updated to reflect the same information, that was enough for me. I originally taped this from an FM broadcast years ago. I haven?t actually heard the "La Villa Strangiato" or "Spirit of St. Louis" CDs, but I have heard tape copies and I think this version is superior. The only flaw is that the very end (and I mean the last two or three notes) of "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" is cut off.   (1999-04-01)

Left channel is shot for first 45 seconds of Let's Dance.  Right channel copied.
Inexplicable gap in Golden Years at 1:17-1:19.  Let's Dance repair from same lyric at end of song.
Another broken element straddling applause after Life On Mars? and start of Sorrow on left channel - right channel copied.
Left channel damaged again in the crowd noise after Cat People, and a 1 second piece at the start of China Girl - right channel copied.
Tape flip between China Girl and Scary Monsters - seamless.
Tape flip between Young Americans and Fame - seamless.
Encore break gap between TVC 15 (@ 4:01) and Stay - removed cleanly.
Substantial volume reprofiling required for Modern Love (way too quiet on source tape).
