An early concert from the first month of the 85/86 tour in my homeland(not counting the 2 April gigs).

The tour started on April 25, 1985  in Yugoslavia  after Brothers in Arms release in May 1985 and ended in Sydney on April 26, 1986 .

Dire Straits visited 23 countries, 117 cities and played for more than two and a half million people.

All 248 shows were sold out.!!

This show is one of the best performance , Mark is very releaxed, sings different tunes during a lot of songs than normally (not out of tune!),
also instrumentally the songs are different than later on in the tour.very nice to hear those difference.

Mark makes a lot of little lyrics changes!

And what about Mark singing "they could have killed my baby"(9.42min) during "Tunnel of love" ?

**)money for nothing is still uncensored and very raw (instrumentaly wise) , Mark's sings "faggot" three times in a row. **(see the controversy note below.)

Mark seems to be a little confused at the beginning of "wild west end", kill me if i am wrong(softly please), but Mark start playing his dobro-guitar like
he wanted to play the intro of "portobello belle"

The band is full energy.... just like the audience. Nice to hear "The mans too strong" , and "so far away" during this early stage of the tour.
great "two young lovers"

The band introduction during "Tunnel of love" is stunning!!!After that the audience sings the rest of the lyrics and sweeps Mark with clapping and some "rythmic-yelling" to a killing outro solo!

The improvation jam ,which the band starts cause the audience spontaneously starts to humm a tune, is breath taking, and gives me shivers, one of the many highlights from that evening!!(listen sample)

money for nothing....the controversy

The observations of the character included references to a musician "banging on the bongos like a chimpanzee" and a description of a singer as "that little faggot with the earring and the make-up", and lamenting that the artists got "money for nothing and chicks for free". These lyrics were widely criticised as sexist, racist and homophobic statements, and in some later releases of the song the lyrics were edited for airplay; "faggot" for example is often replaced with "mother" (itself a shortened version of another potentially offensive phrase in this context).

When the song is included in rotation as part of a music feed played in stores or restaurants, "faggot" is usually turned backwards. The entire second verse was edited out for content and length for radio and video airplay, and on the 7" single. This edited version is included in the compilation albums Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits and Money for Nothing.

In a late 1985 interview in Rolling Stone magazine, Knopfler expressed mixed feelings on the controversy:

“ I got an objection from the editor of a gay newspaper in London - he actually said it was below the belt. Apart from the fact that there are stupid gay people as well as stupid other people, it suggests that maybe you can't let it have so many meanings - you have to be direct. In fact, I'm still in two minds as to whether it's a good idea to write songs that aren't in the first person, to take on other characters.”

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, in an interview with Blender Magazine, claimed that the song is actually about his band's excessive lifestyle, and that he heard the clerks in the store were commenting on Mötley Crüe videos shown on the in-store television sets.
