***SOUNDBOARD TAPE***

CD-R > EAC > wav > flac

This is a soundboard tape of a very early BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO 1988 WORLD TOUR show.
Parts of this concert appeared on some Bootleg samplers (e.g. "Sessions, Rarities & B-Sides Vol.5),
but this is the most complete version of the recording ("Jailbreak" and "The Jack" are not included).
No microphone was turned on the audience so you will hardly notice any audience noise between the songs.
I got this one a few years ago from a fellow collector, this is very rare stuff as it was
never released (even on liberated bootlegs) in this most complete version !

So far no artwork exists, please feel free to create something nice ! :-)

ENJOY & PLAY LOUD !!!

Blue Oyster Cult 1981-07-30 McNichols Arena Denver, CO

Picked this one up from a friend in the mid-90's. Unfortunately, I don't have any linage, but sound quality is SBD and very nice - sample included. My copy of the show also had a Albert Bouchard interview that I included here. It must be from 1980 or 1981.

I've seen Maiden many times, since 1983, and this was one of the best shows I've seen.
This New Jersey audience was up for it and the band could see it, hear it and even smell it.

Pink Floyd 1980-08-06 Earls Court Exibition Hall Earls Court, London, England(WWRM014)

A WALLweeds production 2004

Earls Court Exibition Hall
Earls Court, London, England
6th August 1980
---------------------------------------------------------------------
WALLweed WWRM014

This one came to me as "Live Wall Pts 1+2", but I have no proof of lineage.

CD 1

I repaired the Intro so that it is complete in both channels.

There is a change in tone during the intro where it changes to a more dynamic tone, this is the way the recording came to me.

When this dynamic tone drops in, to me it sounds like stereo, this is why I have put Stereo on the cover.

CD1+2

Then Filters were added at:-
25Hz to 505.6Hz at 1dB
505.6Hz to 2818.1Hz at 1.9dB
2818.1Hz to 7120.3Hz at 5.1dB
7120.3Hz to 21552.1Hz at -0.1dB

All at a scale of 15dB

Enjoy the show.

Once described as above, please note on one hand for every release, a great powerful artwork & a strong improved remastered version from the original version.
On the other hand, these are only CDrs, definitely not silver CDs!
These AR bootlegs really deserve your download.
Made in Moscow, they are not home-made even if released in very small units.

comments:
This is part of the Mona Lisa's Sister tour, actually this is a back by popular demand
show since Parker had just played the Metro club in Boston about a month before this show.
he mentions playing 4 nights at the Paradise club in 1979
I think this was near the end of the tour, and this recording is the entire concert,
with all the radio announcer encore break and closing commentary, and almost all of the
opening radio announcer babble.
The only tape flip interruption is between songs after track 12,
I've spliced it so you may not even notice it's there since this is a seamless recording
(no fadeins/outs).
The broadcast was clean that night, no interference or problems, and my tape has
probably only been played maybe 3 or 4 times since I recorded it, so it still sounds
like I recorded it last week. Hard to believe it was 28+ years ago...
how time flies when, oh well, even when you're not having fun (and your airplane has no left wing)...
This can be broken with disc 2 staring with track 20, which makes a 73:20 1st disc,
but I recommend starting disc 2 with track 17, which makes a 1st disc of 64:26.
Either way will work fine, this recording is seamless (no fadeins or fadeouts for disc breaks).

If there's any drop off in sound on the last two tracks, it's minimal. I don't know what was remastered. The spectral frequency analysis does not look lossy.

COMMENT

One of the finest recordings of the tour and overall a surprisingly excellent release from Sabotage. Surprising? Well, in the respect that shows from the Hit N Run tour are not exactly the stuff of legend. That said, this is a very decent show featuring far less input from Najee and Kip Blackshire than normal - their lack of input means the show is far more focused with more emphasis on Prince. The show begins with a few minutes of Najee tooting his horn before the concert starts in ernest with the DAT intro and John Blackwell cueing into 'Uptown'. It's evident there are a number of technical difficulties throughout the show and the beginning especially has Prince screaming at the sound technician to correct problems - leading him to say to the crowd, "Welcome to our rehearsal". For the main part, the show is pretty basic for the Hit N Run tour but as always the interesting moments occur when prince strays from the norm. 'Let's Go Crazy' is proceeded by a 4 minute guitar warm-up which includes various riffs and the inclusion of 'Voodoo Child' (amongst others). The speech before 'When Will We Be Paid' is also worthy of note as it is remarkably similar to the basic notion used for 'Family Name' on The Rainbow Children. One other part of the show worth hearing again is the complete fuck-up of the drum machine during the interlude version of 'When Doves Cry' which runs at a completely different speed to the pre-recorded vocals - very, very funny and makes the show seem extremely amateur up to that point. The bonus tracks are a nice addition, however the shows are circulating in their complete form and can only be viewed as filler material on here. The quality is less impressive than the Richmond recording, but nothing is less than VG+. Doug E Fresh guests during the shows in Grand Rapids and Cleveland and manages to completely ruin what was (before he appears) an enjoyable performance. The packaging is in a similar vein to Sabotage's other Hit N Run release 'Hit N Run Denver' and is certainly one of their better efforts. Overall a very impressive recording of a decent Hit N Run concert.

Jimi Hendrix 1970-06-13 Civic Center, Baltimore, MD(5th source)

 1970-06-13 Baltimore 5th source - the 'so-called soundboard tape'

Thanks to CTT member carlygtr56 we have a new source for Baltimore70.

It starts with Machine Gun, and runs until the end of the show, omitting SSB.

There are only very faint vocals audible until near the end of Hear my Train, where (at 6:30) Jimi can very heard singing very clearly. From then on, the vocals are present very clearly and upfront in the mix.

Another remarkable characteristic of the sound of this tape is that there is almost no audience reactions audible. On the 4 other sources, the music is almost drowned by audience reactions at times, on for example the start of Hey Joe, or during Foxy Lady and Purple Haze.

Whether this is a tape recorded with a microphone or from a soundboard is still a bit of a mystery (to me, anyway). The difference in absence/presence of the vocals and the absence of near-mix audience reactions sure makes it seem like it has 'something' to do with a soundboard. But we're open to all theories

The last track on the disc is another mystery item.

Room Full Of Mirrors, seemingly 2 short takes from a session or rehearsal.

The pitch and tempo are almost identical to the RFOM version released on Morning Symphony Ideas, which was recorded in the Record Plant NYC on 25 sep 69. Its possible that these takes are earlier takes from that session, but its hard to be 100% sure about this because of the sound quality and how short the pieces are.

The torrent contains 2 folders, the 'raw' version which is exactly the disc we got from carlygtr56, and an 'edit' version. You can set your torrent client to download either or both versions.

The 'edit' version has been through phase correction, to deal with the soundsignal which goes from l to r channel quite a bit in the 'raw' version.

Also, a repeated section of Purple Haze has been deleted from the 'edit' version.

Lineage: ???>cassette>CDR>WAV>FLAC

Phase correction done with Adobe Audition 3.0

Huge Thanx to Carlygtr56 and Hawkfan369 who made this possible.

COMMENT

A rather strange release of pretty poor quality tracks, readily available tracks, official releases and a whole lot of filler material. I won't go through them track by track as I really detest this release THAT much. Both 'The One (Remix)' and 'Come On (Remix)' have been officially released and their inclusion here is slightly baffling. The quality of 'Livin' 2 Die' is pretty awful, and rather muddy. The Lewis Connection (with Prince supplying backing vocals) are a nice, rare inclusion, however Prince only appears on 'Got To Be Something Here', so I'm confused as to why Sabotage have included 'Feel Good To Ya' as it features zero input from Prince. The same can be said for the monotonous Ingrid Chavez tracks and their pointless inclusion only adds to an already poor release. The mid section of tracks (Y Should Eye Do That / Madrid / If I Had / Splash) have been taken from the original NPGMC internet release, and as such are merely brief snippets of the actual song lasting barely 1 minute each. Undoubtedly one of the worst releases from Sabotage.

Notes from MoLM as follows:-

This is one of TWO separate recordings known

equalized and edited the show.

All I did to this show was:-

Added Sharpen at 2dB/KHz and Equalised the sound.

Winston's Notes: I was contacted last summer by an FBO member named Wayne Catalde. He let me know that he had
the Cassettes and I was welcome to remaster them for a future tree as his way of giving back to the
Zep Community. I was honored to do so. I know many of you Zep fans probably have 1/2 dozen versions
of this historic show. The story behind these Cassettes is what makes this so special to me. From
the local tape shop were Mike bought his blanks. A person working there noticed this same guy coming in
and buying up big amounts of blanks. He asked what they were for and Millard told him that he taped concerts.
They became friends and made a deal, Free blanks for Mikes taped shows.

I have listened to alot of "low gen" sources for this show. They all have "Millard Markings" most common
are cuts during No Quarter & Guitar solo. Those 2 songs are complete. Mike would also put in pulse channel
dropouts after his tape flips & and would put silent spots on some of the songs. I guess that is how he
kept track of his trades. These are clean from those "Markings" and they are the best sounding of all the
low gen versions I have heard.

I want to thank Wayne for letting me remaster this show.
I asked him to watch this thread and answer any questions or comments you might have.

This is the last one from me for awhile so please enjoy Smile

WALLweed WWRM011

The first 28th Feb 1980 show that I was sent was split in a strange way over the 2 CD's, and it was rather hissy. I had started to sort this one out when I was offered another version of this show. When this second copy turned up I was surprised by the quality. It was from the same source though, once again no lineage I am afraid.

Adjustments made this show are as follows:-

Equalised the sound to remove some of the top end, it sounded rather harsh in some places.

Track splits had micro gaps, so these were repaired.

Digital clicks have been removed, well I think I got them all.

Enjoy the show.. .. ..

COMMENT

The majority of this 3cd set focuses on a mammoth Lovesexy tour rehearsal dating from the early stages of the rehearsals. The correct running order of the tracks presented on this set are highly questionable due to the fact a fair number of the tracks performed are incomplete and suddenly cut-out - most notably during Disc 1. The quality throughout the rehearsal is a superb soundboard recording, and even with the drop-outs it would be too harsh for me to criticise. Disc 1 begins with a loose warm-up based around 'The Payback' which contains as much chit-chat between Prince and the band members as it does music. The main topic of conversation appears to be Prince's knowledge of a number of band's on the UK music scene at the time along with his thoughts on Weird Al Yankovic's video for 'Fat'. Next up is an extremely lengthy 35 minute version of 'Alphabet St' which includes various band solo's along with a repeated phrase of "Let me feel u up". The following few numbers are mainly instrumental takes with emphasis on the band members getting things correct, with little worthy of note occurring. Track #8 listed by Sabotage as 'Instrumental' is the musical segue performed on the tour between 'Kiss' and 'Dance On' which in turn includes parts of Sheila E's drum solo. Prince is absent for the remainder of the rehearsal with Levi taking over vocals for the first take of 'When You Were Mine' before Boni and Sheila E decide to grab the mic action. From here on Sheila E appears to be calling the shots and does a mighty impressive job of keeping the band structured and focused. Disc 2 is a continuation of the rehearsal with many of the tracks being rehearsed several times - a prime example of this is 'Positivity' which lasts in excess of 34 minutes and includes at least 5 takes of the track. Prince returns to the rehearsal during 'Positivity' (he's absent during 'Superfunkycalifragisexy') however he stays only for part of the 'Positivity' rehearsal along with 'Anna Stesia' before he is off again. The band rehearse versions of 'Glam Slam' and 'Dance On' which are identical to the album tracks complete with lyrics which never made the version played on tour. It's slightly misleading for Sabotage to list 'The Cross' as being rehearsed as it is simply the closing brief musical portion rehearsed before launching in to 'I Wish U Heaven'. As with the previous disc, Disc 2 also contains a number of incomplete tracks and unfortunately has a few drop-outs throughout. Disc 3 contains the final part of the rehearsal and Prince is not present at all. Again Sheila E seems to be taking the lead, however a number of tracks feature Levi on vocals, including his own version of 'Bob George'. As before a number of the tracks consist of 2 or 3 different takes with most work being done on 'Superfunkycalifragisexy'. The rehearsal closes with Boni on vocals for a great version of 'Chain Of Fools'. Ironically the part of the rehearsal on Disc 3 is the most complete of the 3 discs, yet it is the one on which Prince is not in attendance - shame. This is undoubtedly a fascinating rehearsal with many vastly different versions of songs in comparison to the versions which would later make it on to the actual tour. The real let-down is that Prince is not present for over 50% of the rehearsal. Add to that the number of drop-outs and incomplete tracks, and it's perfectly understandable why some people do not rate this rehearsal. The quality of the soundboard is it's saving grace, and is hard to find fault with. The second half of Disc 3 contains a much later rehearsal dating from summer 1988 a matter of weeks before the tour takes place. The sound quality is slightly more gritty and lacking the depth of the previous rehearsal, however again it is of very high quality. It is a basic run through of the show and all tracks rehearsed are played as they are on the tour. Both 'Bob George' and 'Anna Stesia' are heavily incomplete (Bob George lasts barely 1 minute in length), however a more complete version of the rehearsal is available on Sabotage's later release 'Lovesexy Tour Rehearsals Volume 2', so the inclusion of this tiny part of the rehearsal on this disc is baffling. Overall this is a great document in preparation for the Lovesexy tour, although certainly no match for the sublime 'Lovesexy Tour Rehearsals Volume 2' release. The sound quality is of a consistently high quality, and the content is interesting and extremely enjoyable. The first rehearsal is slightly disappointing due to the lack of Prince's presence, however the band's performance is commendable when the master is not around.
