An excellent recording marred only by the mix at the show, which had the vocals far too low.  Track 10 isn't released on any of Kix's albums, but I can't make outthe lyrics well enough to name it because of the aforementioned low vocal mix

Notes:

-I noticed that a version of this show was torrented two years ago, but
since I'm sure JTT has gained a lot more new members since then, this is
worth posting again. This isn't the exact same version as the one from
2005 because this one has the AB extra.

-Dates courtesy of db.etree.org and www.tv.com (the original dates that
came with the DVD were not correct)

-The footage isn't pristine, but it's certainly not unwatchable either.

-Thanks to Rick Cartey for the snail mail trade this came from.

David Lee Roth 1988-11-28 Palatrussardi Milan, Itlay

LDB Special Series #376 (#698 of the entire series)

Out of my 7,000+ shows and radio broadcasts, I have many concerts that were special for some reasons: the setlist, the
musicians, the venue or unexpected events. These are the ones I'd like to propose you. Most of these come from my
cassettes collection, so they will be released at a slower pace than my Master Series! But you won't be disappointed!
I will try to gather the most unusual things I have in my collection and, as always, your feedback and comments will be my
reward for all the work involved in this project.

DO NOT share this music on mp3, just convert it for your own use. Sharing mp3's is the right way to make me stop sharing
music here.

Finally, some notes about your truly ldb: I have been a fan of live music since I was 9 years old (that is where
I attended my very first show, a PFM/De André gig at Milano's Palalido) and my first taped show was at 11 using
a crappy portable cassette player with embedded microphone. I become more serious about taping in 1983 when I
started to record every show. In 1991 I acquired my first Sony Professional and in 2000 I moved to MiniDisc to
finally settle on R-09 in early 2008.

I have seen nearly 500 shows in my career. Most of them were taped but for others bad luck struck and I could not
record it: on top of my mind there's a Paul McCartney show in 1993 in Milano where I was caught by the security or
Porcupine Tree in Roma in March 1999 when the DAT machine would seem to work but listening back to the tape there
would just be a long bunch of silence. Or during a Y.Malmsteen show where I got so annoyed that I left halfway
through the show and erased the tape and finally on a PFM show in Milano in 2007 where I had to leave before the
encore because the baby-sitter had to leave early that evening. Some other times I was very close not to tape or
had to do it in extremely difficult situations: for the four Peter Gabriel shows at Earls Court in 1987 security
was checking tapers with metal detector; at the David Gilmour comeback show in London in 2001 at RFH I had the
security guy sitting next to me but I managed to tape the show without checking one single time my MiniDisc!

There was a time I was travelling anywhere in Europe to see shows, especially if there was no touring in Italy: I
remember Rush in Paris in 1992 when the trio did not even know what Italy was. I have seen shows at stadiums
(Genesis at Wembley) and in places with 30 people (Porcupine Tree in Milano in 1997); bands that would later
become huge (Pearl Jam in a free show for 150 people) and masters of jazz (Miles Davis or Sarah Vaughan). Shows
I will never forget (Pink Floyd at Versailles castle) and some I would rather forget (no comment...).

I truly believe that live music is what keeps music alive, what make us enjoying it together, what allow us to
have deep feelings and transmit it to others. Studio records are nowadays 'commodities': you can buy online as
anonymous wav files and listen in your iPod or at home. Live music will always imply an effort to buy the tix,
travel to the venue, see the show, think about it when coming back home.

WOW! We are rapidly approach volume 700 of my entire series: with Master Series at #322 and Special Series now at #376,
we are nearly there! I am preparing something special for volume 700 and working on it but I also will take suggestions
from you folks. Meanwhile, enjoy this pristine David Lee Roth show in Milano during his first solo tour featuring master
Steve Vai on guitar. A very enjoyable show with loads of covers, a few Van Halen songs spanning from metal to blues.
Highly recommended listening.

Notes: A rarity from back in the day...the taper Keith T. had this gig and  many others from the Connecticut area...I couldn't quite get a trade together and it's unclear if he ever got it into circulation...is this his tape or another source that was found by VH fans ffoner and Loucap81? Either way, it was nice to hear.
The recording is clear suggesting a low gen, but the recorder is overloaded by the volume. Still a good listen for the VH diehards here. From here it was back to Philly...

Seeded through the 80's Audience Perma-Tree

Note: All noted glitches are on master CDs

General issues:

There is periodic wind noise throughout the show;
it's worse in Set 1 than in Set 2

As noted, some crowd noise is missing on both discs;
I suspect this was done to make things fit on 74-minute discs

Disc 1 - Set 1

1. Crowd>Hell In A Bucket*>
2. Sugaree
3. Me And My Uncle**>
4. Mexicali Blues
5. Althea***
6. Little Red Rooster****
7. Bird Song
8. Jack Straw

Set - 2

9. Mississippi Half Step>
10. Women Are Smarter

*= -2 minutes of crowd before start of song should probably have been tracked separately

**= some crowd noise missing after Sugaree

***= some crowd noise missing after Mexicali Blues

****= cut/flip at 8:46, 2 seconds silence, some crowd missing before Bird Song

Disc 2 - Set 2 cont.

1. Ship Of Fools
2. Saint Of Circumstance*>
3. Drums>
4. Space>
5. I Need A Miracle**>
6. Morning Dew>
7. Throwing Stones>
8. Not Fade Away***

Encores

9. Not Fade Away Reprise****>
10. Quinn The Eskimo

*= some crowd noise missing after Ship Of Fools

**= track marker is a bit late in my opinion, but this is subjective

***= dropouts during crowd chant at 7:35-7:39, 7:47, 7:50-7:56

****= splice/glitch at 0:01

Notes:

Second night of two. Yes I did go to both. I thought this came out best. Really the only Dead show I really liked.
Good ol Poplar Creek. Thank goodness for Archiv.org in getting a setlist and knowing where each song ends.
This plays nice and loud on a good stereo system! I forgot until now that I was hitting the pause button between
some songs. They sure knew how to waste time between those songs.
Enjoy RB

Understand that all this archiving that is recorded in 24b/192khz I am doing SOLELY for myself.
It is the best sound! Now sharing it in cd format is lossy. Besides I have enough work to do and consider yourself
lucky if I do upload a CD format. If you really enjoy these archives get them at this resolution despite the file size.
Down the road you will not be sorry. Is this a nice enough way to say it?

***Everything I do for my stereo room and gear is carefully chosen for the finest of quality control.
This means A to B comparisons for EVERYTHING! I leave no stone unturned. I decide if what I do will end up being a
more musicalexperience and not the opposite like more processed sounding. I split hairs!! I have learned what is
more musical from all the decades of listening to differences. Stereo and audio gear is not nearly as subjective as
people make it out to be. It is either more musical or more processed sounding at the end of the day.
One more thing I learned, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE SAME! Practically the same yes! The same, NO!
So with this all said…..I thank all the people here for the great compliments since I came here in 2006.
It means a lot to me after decades of sleepless nights and stressful days carrying in top shelve
equipment every time out!***

With every digital transfer the master tapes become obsolete. If you try any which way to transfer them again
they won't sound as good. As long as there are ample backups of course there is no need for them.

COMMENT

The closing show of the short European December 1998 tour, and unfortunately not the best concert from the brief 9 date tour. The quality of the recording really cannot be faulted and is of extremely high quality. The audience level is at a minimum and the only time they become a little too audible is during Candy Dulfer's sax solo on 'The One' - the remainder of the recording is above any criticism from me. The concert is rather predictable, and certainly free of anything surprising. P adds a few lines from 'I Know You Got Soul' to 'Talkin' Loud & Sayin' Nothing' which itself is one of the longest versions of the tour. 'The One' opens with the normal instrumental intro before Candy Dulfer guests for a solo. P the proceeds to sing the opening lines but stops and launches into 'Let's Go Crazy'. The jam proceeding 'Baby I'm A Star' is quite fun, and unusually P begins 'Baby I'm A Star' from the keyboard before the band join in. The remainder of the show IS good, but just a little too predictable, and certainly not as impressive as a tour finale concert usually is (by P's own high standards). The added bonus from Larry Graham's opening act is an unnecessary addition, and very echoed in comparison to the main Ghent concert.

Notes:
Tonight was a very extremely hot night in Raleigh, nonetheless I was very excited to be recording at the same venue I recorded them for the first time 21 years ago. I only record for the pleasure of all fans to freely enjoy, especially to all those who attended the show. With that I would like to mention two special friends and fans who flew in from Nebraska to see the show, Tom and Teresa. I know they had an unforgettable evening. Thank you Live Archive for promoting live RHCP and making so much of their music available for all to hear. I can never say enough about my very good friend Leni who has a big part in making this recording a touch better and also making this available for all to hear.

Ozzy Osbourne 1982-01-22 Mecca Auditorium Milwaukee, WI

Ozzy Osbourne live at the Milwaukee Mecca Auditorium on January 22nd 1982 USA

*****THIS IS AN UPGRADE TO TORRENT #292737 AS THAT IS MY RECORDING FROM LISTENING TO THE YOU-TUBE LINK.
I JUST ARCHIVED THE MASTER A FEW MOMENTS AGO FOR THE FIRST TIME. ALSO IN ALL THE YEARS I NEVER SAW ANOTHER SOURCE OF THIS RECORDING.*****

*****DIGITAL ARCHIVE DEBUT TODAY*****

This was a cold snowy day like near snowstorm level. Driving 70 miles north to Milwaukee up 94 me and my buddy spun out into the shoulder
from all the snow. My buddy says "we are nuts taking this drive to Milwaukee". Yeah right like i am not recording tonight. I was 5th row main floor
left center. Ozzy was liquored up as you could see yourself in his eyes. Listen when he says "I hear the animal thothiety is here" :) .
It was a rocking show. Randy played well. The PA system on the left had troubles all night as the tweeter kept cutting out and cutting back in all
throughout the show. I was so close to the stage that it did not hamper the sound too much. But if you are listening closely, you can hear this.
I went up to the sound board and asked what the deal was with that and told me to get the fuck out of here. It was best to get out of there.
This is the first time I have shared this recording flat/raw. The cassettes I let out in the day were all equalized on the Inductive Coil Soundcraftman EQ.

This about 78 minutes long. I needed two Gold cdr's but one 80 minute will do.

Microphones: Sony ECM 33F
Tape Deck: Sony TC-D5M
Cassettes: TDK SAX-90
Recorded with Dolby B but I choose to leave it off on this playback

 wfg’s Notes:

We were in the 16th row on Eddie's side.  The evening before we were in the same section, 15th row for Rush.  Since it was back-to-back shows, we stayed mellow for Rush.  For VH we got fucking plastered!  I took pictures as well. Those are in a photo album somewhere in the garage.  Don't even ask.

We stood on our seats the entire show (normal practice for Vegas shows in the early '80's) and passed the mic back and forth as our arms got tired. In between was a lot of pot smoking.  We were too young to drink legally, so that was all done in the parking lot pre-show.  Most likely we popped a bunch of Valiums, too.  ;)

This was VH's 1st ever Vegas show.  You'll hear DLR mention it at the start. The town had been exploding to hear them live.  The tape captures that.

[Back in 1978] I was the 1st person to play them for anyone here [in Vegas].  I'm not making that up when I say that.  I initially heard them on Kasey Kasem's Top 40 radio show in early '78 (maybe even late '77) with You Really Got Me.  I could not understand their name and didn't know how to spell it.  Unfortunately, they fell out of the Top 40 the following week.  I was freaking out because I wanted it bad.  Luckily, they popped into the bottom the next week and I wrote the name down.  Went to the local independent record store and bought the 1st album.  I need not explain the meltdown going on in my head.

I taped it on cassette and took it to high school on my little portable mono Panosonic player. Needless to say, I was the hit of the smoking area/stoner area/band room for weeks after that.  No one could believe what they were hearing.

It's funny to tell a story like that in these times, but I miss those days of discovery.  No internet, cell phones, etc.  All word of mouth.  Today's kids just look at you like you're a caveman.  Whatever.  I was there and they were not!

Live at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, New Haven, CT, USA on 14th July 1974

From an old and dusted archive

Audio source: Audience recording
Linage: AUD(1) ---> CDR ---> WAV ---> FLAC 8 ---> MWP
Number of discs: 2
Artwork: none
Total running time: 45m 32s / 38m 13s

Info: A legendary concert, not for the concert itself but due to the fact that manycollectors have been searching for this concert for many years. Almost every Bowie bootleg collector must have heard stories about this recording, but only few have actually heard the recording itself. Was it all just a hoax, or was there really a recording from this concert?

Well, here it is. It's been worth waiting for. In my opinion it does rank among the 5 best sounding recordings of the first leg of this tour. For 1974 (Bowie) standards it's a very good recording. Sourced from a 1st generation cassette.

Enjoy it!

David Bowie
Madison Square Garden
New York, New York
July 20, 1974

Source: XLII90 --> Audacity --> Wav --> FLAC Front End Level 8

Description: Decent sounding audience tape from the 1974 tour, I think one of the better ones from '74 not including the Maloney recordings, et al.  Bowie says "Good evening New York" as an identifier during the intro to All The Young Dudes.  This show is missing both Jean Genie and Rock N'Roll Suicide, and has a few small cuts, most are between songs but are barely noticeable.  Watch That Man has a cut toward the end of the song.  All in all a good show and a good performance.

Setlist:
1. 1984

====================================================================================================
The tour story goes something like Tom decided he was going to drive to Madison Wisconsin then
St Paul MN the night after the Harrisburg show (the 23rd). In my haste, I said I would go with him.
He originally wanted to go all the way through the tour into Ames Iowa but I was not able to go
that far; we decided to make that choice later. We set out in Tom's Toyota Corolla with Maine Plates.
This was my first long trip experiencing the odd, understated yet worldly character trait which
comes along with being a resident of the State of Maine thus allowing one to travel across the
country in Maine plates. In so many places Tom would have the discussion about his town and how
good a time this person had as a tourist in Maine. All in fun.
We thought about trying to make it to Madison Wisconsin for June 24th, but leaving as late as we
did on the 24th and realizing how far it would be to St Paul, we decided just to aim for the
Twin Cities Minnesota. Tom had made these stickers with the Robert Hunter line "Every Silver Lining
has a touch of Grey" made. Two colors, yellow and silver. they were the size of the PAID stickers
at grocery stores. We plastered those things at every rest stop and gas station we stopped at
along the way. at one point, after the show in Chicago, we were driving down the road and these
girls pulled up beside us and we somehow transferred about 100 stickers from window to window!
This was my first time in St. Paul and I recall the glass walkways over the streets in the downtown
area near the civic center.

This was still in the day when tickets rarely sold out and we were in luck to get two floor tickets
off to one side. I recall sitting in front of the Civic Center waiting for the box office to open,
then hanging on the green space around the building most of the day. Once entering the venue it
was a classic 60's era auditorium, maybe 8,000 capacity. Tom decided to take seats closer to the
center in our row, thinking we could trade the owners with ours only 8-10 seats at the other end
of the aisle. When the ticket holders showed up, there were about eight of them, boy-girl, boy-girl.
They were not too enthusiastic but did allow us to keep the stand in that seat. Tom went up and
down the row handing out the stickers to all of them and making sure they were comfortable with
our gear being there. This was the first time seeing the Dead for all of them, and letting them
know things such as the song titles was appreciated. By set break, they were all asking questions
about the music and such as well as us having to explain the whole taping deal which typically
went: "Well the band allows it but the security of the venue still don't allow it, so we sneak it
in but the crew tells security not to mess with us. if you give us your address, we can try to
send you some tapes.

As far as musical highlights; somewhere about Cassidy the intensity of the jamming picked up and
the boys were in a groove. BY the time they hit Brother Esau they were dialed in and the Lazy
Lightning > Supplication is a beautiful part of the set. Tom was thinking they would play a bunch
of cowboy tunes in the middle of the country where we were but they only did Big RR blues which was
a nice rendition. All in all the whole show was classic Grateful Dead of this early 1980's era.
Nothing terribly special setlist wise, but some real sweet interplay between Jerry and Bob in the
Sampson>Ship>Women's>UJB sequence. To my ears Brent was really hitting it and starting to build
his repertoire of lengthy, foundational organ chords which he would incorporate into the GD
songbook until his death. The Baby Blue was a fitting encore, Mr. Zimmerman being from the Twin
Cities and all.

This recording is one of the best examples of how the Beyer hypercardiods crossed in X-Y close to
the stage (typically within 40-60 feet from the speakers) could shine. Although not as ubiquitous
as the Sennhieser 421 or 441 or the Nakamichi shotguns these Beyers made some nice recordings. In
fact, we started to gain a bit of a following by patchers on the tour and by the late summer West
Coast tour we would have several more members added to the Executive Crew. Two key players will be
met at the next destination in Chicago Illinois at a Drury Inn. Tom and I left St. Paul that night
and slept a bit in a Minnesota rest area until sun up then made our way toward Chicago.
