Story:
The Beginning and the rip:
2 Years ago a cool guy here on PPTT have contact me, and then send me the master tapes of this concert. Those tapes were from his buddy F.A. , who for some reasons always "remastered" his recordings (EQ and edits) and never kept the true master tapes. This one was "Saved" by Walt 92, who was so kind to send me the tapes asking me to rip 'em. Unfortunally, during the last 2 years I have some problems with my old tape deck, so as the time goes by, I have never had the proper time for rip the tapes. Until now: my Tape Deck is arise, and I can find some time for rip some stuff. First of all, sorry to Walt92 for have waited so much time... this rip is dedicated to hom and -of course- to the original taper (by the way, Walt92 was with the taper at the concert, he was in charge to bring the mike in the venue).
Adjustement:
As I don't like so much remasters etc, this is the raw file. What you hear is exactly what you hear on the tape. I have only increased a bit the volume (i prefer to import the audio at a medium volume... who knows, maybe at the end of the tape the volume get high and you have a ruined/clicked file...), that's all I have do. You'll find a couple of seconds of empty after the first verse of Shake Dog Shake. This comes from the master tape, maybe a problem with the mic or the recorder. During The Same Deep Water As You there's the first tape flip, so I've joined the 2 semitracks with EAC. Again, at the end of WCIBY the tape ends, so...change tape, cut out and cut in for the last song, Never Enough. Besides that, the sound quality is AMAZING! Sometimes you can hear a floating sound, typical of the open air festival, but almost everything is clear, almost no chatting in the audience, good balance treble/bass...
The Concert:
Pretty enjoyable summer festival concert, with a very talklative Robert Smith. Usual setlist. Simon's bass sometimes out of tune, some feedback with the acoustic guitars... but a great feeling. This was actually the 6th concert of Perry Bamonte with The Cure, so you can hear some mistakes at the keyboards here and there, but nothing that can really annoying you.
That's all folks, thanks again to Walz92 (You deserve a couple of beers!) and enjoy this uncirculated version of this great concert!
