COOPS2009 NOTES FOR MS-173:
Short but well filmed (security booooooo!)but they were good concerts
even if the band are a little subdued
Remember even if you have some of the Daves films already that at best your copies will be 2 generations poorer than anything in the Masters series, so get em all.
These will be with original sound though many will feature as sound upgrades eventually with my two mates Yassou and Madhasse helping out

04 - Running Free
05 - Transylvania

Picked this up this morning at a boot store. Had the audio of it on cassette for years.
Nice to finally see the video of it. Video shows it age but is definitely worth the purchase for me and I'm sure it'll be worth the free download for you :)

Since it's so short and I had a couple other Maiden things kicking around, I decided to reauthor it, make a better menu and include some bonus footage:

That God has been crying
And it leaves the world
And it leaves the world
With a rainbow for a crown"

...... From Book Faded Brown

I found this in The Band website guestbook from 1999 (Note: Tony's setlist differs from the one I was sent with this disc. I don't know if he wrote these down in any order but if someone can confirm the setlist order it would be greatly appreciated) There are gaps in between so it is very hard to tell.

Great Danko Show at Clearwater in Massapequa, NY. Rick’s voice was right on. Rick, The Professor and Billy Read (on drums) gave it full power last night. The opening act was The Last Hombres (the club owner’s band) they did their own music and very well. Rick was in true form singing, laughing and joking around all night. The show lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes and they got stronger as the night went on. Book Faded Brown, This Wheels on Fire, Blind Willie McTell, Sip the Wine, Let the four Winds Blow,  Twilight, It Makes on Difference, Next Time you See Me, Long Black Veil, Crazy Mama, Stage Fright, The Weight, Shape I’m In (with The Last Hombres), CC Rider (with The Last Hombres) ..........Tony LoBue

Pink Floyd The Syd Barrett Years (JWB COMPILATION)

 PINK FLOYD
The Syd Barrett Years
---------------------------

This set was compiled from the best available sources and remastered with care. There was no hiss reduction or fake stereo processing done to this set. Mono recordings appear here in true mono. I was often able to reduce hiss with EQ rather than harsh processing. These tracks were remastered in a similiar fashion to the official Pink Floyd remasters, so excellent quality tracks such as the legendary unreleased "Vegetable Man" and "Scream Thy Last Scream" will blend in nicely on your own Floyd mix CD or playlist. The BBC Sessions appear here with the original DJ intros and have been edited to flow straight through with each broadcast. I am not a member of the Pink Floyd bootleg community, but I am a huge Syd Barrett fan. I was given the raw material for this set by a knowledgeable Floyd collector. I have no idea if all these sources are widely circulating, but the I've been told that this set beats all the other common ones, so if you're a fan, you definitely need this set!

MUTHER'S MUSIC EMPORIUM

January 29, 1974 (Originally erroneously listed as the 19th)

Goody Pitch-Corrected Remaster of the Liberated Bootleg "You Mean So Much To Me" (Great Dane Records)

Gold CD > EAC > WAV > FLAC >

Goody's additional lineage:
TLH (WAV) > Audition (DC Corrected; Pitch Bender -63 cents; Phase adjusted; Amplified +2db; tracking, fades, etc.) >
TLH (FLAC 8; Align sector boundaries; .ffp) > foobar2000 (tags)

The layout of the original discs was unevenly distributed, with the 2nd disc containing only the last 2 tracks.  A bit different here.  Hope you don't mind...
Many choose not to burn their tracks nowadays, so it's of little consequence until you burn copies of the show to share.  I believe there was a set-break
here, anyway.  As there's a cut in the beginning of "You Mean So Much To Me", the effect of those tracks butting up against another is much less jarring
if burned to 2 discs.  Continuous playback will still have a jump in the transition.  There was a bit of an attempt by the producers of the original boot to connect "Thundercrack" with "YMSMTM" which I undid, as it contained a small amount of redundant material. I've attempted to smooth over these rough transitions caused by what appears to be the original taper starting and stopping the cassette.

I've also decided not to EQ these tracks, although I do think they will benefit by boosting the low end by various amounts, but that's personal, and I know
some folks prefer making the choice on their own, if at all, as well as to what degree at any given time.  So - season to taste...  I know a bunch of
y'all are probably on a low sodium diet at this point, anyway...

Thanks to all involved in the capture, preservation and previous presentation of this fine classic show!  Wish I coulda been there...

Big thanks to Eric T for creating another superb art package to put this thing in for y'all, too.  It'll give those Japanese bootleggers and E-Bay sellers somethin' they can put out on the market right away...

FROM BRUCEBASE:  There is no circulating audio from this show. One show, double bill, with Springsteen and band opening for headlining Texas blues guitar legend Freddie King (and his band). King was booked for a six-night residency, however Springsteen was a special guest only for the first two nights. Bruce played before King both nights but was allowed to give a headliner-length performance. The above-mentioned ten-song setlist represents Bruce's complete performance and is from an excellent quality soundboard that is most commonly found on the widely circulating CD 'You Mean So Much To Me' (Great Dane). Unfortunately, the folks at Great Dane incorrectly attributed this audio to a January 19 show at Kent State University and this erroneous information has widely propagated ever since. (Please refer to the January 19 Kent State listing for specific details about that show, which took place in a much larger venue before a substantially larger crowd).

Bruce's booking at this small, 300-seat club came about after Mike Appel became aware of a CBS Sales Convention taking place in Nashville and, additionally, that the entire CBS contingent would be staying in a hotel near this club. Appel conducted a handbill/leaflet drop to each room in the hotel, inviting nearly 200 CBS sales and marketing people to attend the shows. However, according to Appel, nobody from CBS turned up and the club was painfully empty. The audio evidence certainly backs up Appel's recollection. There doesn't sound like there are more than 100 people in the club for Bruce's show. It is speculated this soundboard was recorded because Appel wanted to have material from the show to give to the CBS people he (wrongly) anticipated would show up. This was a single show consisting of two sets. There was a short intermission after "Thundercrack". The opening song of the second set, "You Mean So Much To Me", is missing its opening minute or so. Similarly "Blinded By The Light" was the final song in the second set and the opening minute of the first encore, "Let The Four Winds Blow", is missing. "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" (which contains the "Shotgun" segment) was the final encore.

Blaze Bayley 2002-01-17 Malmo, Sweden

source: Audience Master
length: 44.56

Someone requested vintage Blaze Bayley recordings and I don't remember
if I ever posted these so here ya go! I taped Blaze three times, the
first one was in Malmo 2001 opening for Helloween (that one has been
posted here - let me know if anyone needs it again).

The second and third times were in 2002 when Blaze opened for Savatage,
a great lineup if there ever was one. And even though he only had a
short opening slot he managed to switch the set around between Malmo
and Copenhagen so we got two different gigs. Very nice indeed.

setlist:
01 Intro
02 Kill & destroy
03 End dream
04 Futureal
05 The tenth dimension
06 Ghost in the machine
07 Silicon messiah
08 Man on the edge
09 Born as a stranger

1/21/80     Denver

version "c"
Mono audience recording.
Clearly an above-average show. Solid recording from an above-average seat.
A bit harsh sounding, maybe because of a consumer-grade sound card.
Complete except for opening act, and tape runout at the end of "Covenant Woman".

This comes from a previous seed here in November 2004. It has been
repitched and converted from binaural to mono. I used no EQ or hiss-reduction.
Use your tone controls for custom adjustments, of course.

Seeded on Dime Feb 2006. Please do not reseed elsewhere without this info file
and all relevant comments.

Comments: Okay, I know I said the last one was my last of the tour, but this time I really mean it :). This was a spur of a moment decision to go when I noticed a ticket available in the sweet spot. The venue is actually a tent type structure on the marina. It wasn't too hot outside, but it was very uncomfortable in the tent. There is a large circulating fan on the roof, but they turn it off before the show for some reason. The set was a bit shorter than the previous shows. "Starship Trooper" was dropped, but all of "I've Seen All Good People" was played. There were a couple of anomolies on this one. It takes a few seconds for Chris' bass to kick in in "Siberian Khatru", and the guitar mounted to the stand that Steve uses for acoustic sounds during "And You And I" didn't work, and Steve played the whole track on an electric guitar. "Five Percent For Nothing" was the best of the four so far, but still has a way to go.

Recording wise, this came out excellent once again. I couldn't have been luckier the way the four shows came out. Enjoy!

Artwork is included in the torrent. The photos are from the actual show.

A great show from a great band.  From the DAT Master.  If this recording has leaked our before, it was probably was a raw cassette copy.  Lots of work went into this version.

The first show I ever recorded on DAT.  The Aiwa was the first portable DAT recorder.  A gray market thing that ran on expensive rechargeable batteries.  Given that I was new to the deck, there are a couple of issues.  The beginning of I Don’t Know is distorted, and LOTD has a few seconds of dead air in the middle the song.  I had probably changed batteries during the encore break, and fumbling with the deck I inadvertently  turned the record level down to nothing.  Not my greatest recording ever, but certainly worth a listen.  And these guys are fantastic.  Samples below.

iZotope RX2 denoiser tool to dehiss.

Fair bit of rebalancing of volume levels, which were all over the shop.
Cuts out at end of Stay.  Gap before Waiting For The Man removed with fades.
Cuts out end of Waiting For The Man.  Gap removed.
Cut between Panic In Detroit and Diamond Dogs.  Cuts into the latter, slightly.
Tape flip @ 43 seconds into Rebel Rebel.  Join is clean, but sound quality on second part is initially poorer than the start.

Also on the same tape was the Linus Band set, allegedly from a couple of days later.
I toyed with including this, but decided not to for two very good reasons:
1. Generally agreed that it's a fake, and Bowie's not present on the recording, and
2. It's absolute shite.

Running too fast.  Speed correction with factor of 92%

Before start, two segments of music, presumably from arena ambiance before start.  Omitted.
Tape flip between Fashion and Scary Monsters.  Very tight and clips start of latter.
Tape flip between Time Will Crawl and the band intro.  First few seconds after flip way too loud - reduced to around 60% and clipped worst out.
Tape flip between Fame and Time - encore break crowd noise only.
Further four gaps in crowd noise of encore break, all removed.  Final one clips start of Time.

OK, this one's a little different.  Ruud upped the version of this from the double silver on 13th Feb 2009; which in turn was taken and torrented on dime by tvc15_it two years later (which is where I got it from).

Immediately I listened to it, I was taken by what good quality it seemed to be, but hidden under an unbelievable layer of thick hiss.  Out came iZotope RX denoiser tool.
Sure enough, it's very clear underneath the murk.  Hint of tidal sound on first side (eccentric tape at some stage in the past), but it's beautiful on side 2 (Width Of A Circle onwards).
Sector boundary errors checked using TLH, but no amendments required.

Geetarz Comments:

This ZigZag release simply combines three recordings readily available in traders' circles in one package.

The Dallas show is forgettable in both performance and sound quality (and hindered by annoying whistlers in the venue). Zigzag has increased the levels a bit and perhaps done a bit of compression and other tweaking.

The Miami (Sunrise) performance and recording are much better, and again enjoy a moderate EQ and level work to distinguish them from the original master.

The final set, an ALD/Audience mix from the Ice Palace arena in Tampa, is fundamentally flawed and as such not a very good soundboard or audience recording.

Lineage:

Silvers > CD-R > EAC > FLAC > You !

Original scans included, as are some modified for use in traditional CD covers.

Enjoy!

Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978.  His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck.  In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes.  He also had a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings.  In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.

He recorded many of the major 70's bands:  Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as lesser-known acts.

Dan never traded copies of his recordings, although he did give some copies away to friends.  These releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever circulated, and are direct from his master cassettes.

Notes:
Blaze in Helsingborg. Big city - no one care about Blaze!
I counted the audience, bar personal & security and got it to about 35 people.

I found a nice sofa to sit in and just put the recorder next to me.
The sound turned out to be really good so enjoy it.

Why is "The Launch" cut? Well, the reason is that after "Born As A Stranger"
the band left the stage and acourding to several other shows, this was the last song.
BUT, Blaze thought that since the people who came to the show, should have a special
song and the band came on again. I had almost packed down the gear that I used and
I have to pick it up again fast, so I missed the first part. Sorry.

Enjoy!!

Fleetwood Mac
Who's the New Girl?
Restored by Galemark

Trodd Nossel Studios
Wallingford, CT
September 23, 1975

I got this great concert at another torrent site (thanks to lvdeadhead for the up) and was floored.
The sound was much clearer than previous MP3 versions I had heard.   That said, the tape still had major problems.
It sounded as if it were culled from at least two different sources
(later seeing the wavs virtually proved this) so my first mission was to match EQ curves.
Secondly, there were several dropouts and/or distortions that I repaired/minimized.  I also used minimal NR in some spots.
Last but not least the track separations were quite bad, some even with repetition of several seconds of sound,
so I cleaned those up.   I hope you enjoy my efforts.

Station Man - 6:14
Spare me a Little - 4:52
Rhiannon - 6:39
Why - 4:10
Landslide - 3:38
Over My Head - 3:06
I'm So Afraid - 5:02
Oh Well - 2:57
Green Manalishi - 5:46
World Turning - 8:40
Blue Letter - 3:59
Hypnotized - 7:06

One of the very first Mac concerts with Lindsay Buckingham & Stevie Nicks,
it provides a rare opportunity to hear the new lineup perform such classics as “Hypnotized”, “Spare Me a Little” and “Why”.
The latter especially comes to life with Buckingham at the helm.
This performance comes from the very short period where they played older FM tunes out of necessity rather than as an homage.
