I Just got this show from a little record store near where I live. While the sound quality is EX there are a few flaws with this source. 1) The very beginning (and I do mean the first 2 or 3 notes) of By-Tor and the Snow Dog are cut off. 2) There is a minor tape eat at 0:51 of By-Tor. 3) There is a minor dropout during Neil's solo. With the exception of those flaws this show does sound quite good & at least it is on a normal CD.    (2001-10-27)

Ron's Rush RoIO Review

The legendary St. Louis concert! This is the definitive "Permanent Waves" tape, featuring a rare live "Natural Science." The rest of the songs sound very tight and the band is definitely up for this show. As is mentioned below, there is some controversy surrounding the date. Originally, this was thought to be from 2/14/80. However, several sources disputed this date. In my own experience, I met a fan named Dave Steiner (a great trader, by the way), who told me he was actually at one of the St. Louis PeW shows. He said that the correct dates are Feb 11-13, 1980, and seemed quite adamant about this detail. He wasn?t sure what night or nights were actually used for the broadcast. When the Rush Tour Dates List was updated to reflect the same information, that was enough for me. I originally taped this from an FM broadcast years ago. I haven?t actually heard the "La Villa Strangiato" or "Spirit of St. Louis" CDs, but I have heard tape copies and I think this version is superior. The only flaw is that the very end (and I mean the last two or three notes) of "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" is cut off.   (1999-04-01)

Taper Notes

Here's another recording fresh from the attic.
This was only the 2nd gig I ever recorded.
It was never widely traded as the end part ran ever so
fast and sounded like Bruce was on helium.

Many thanks to Gebs for the excellent remastering and
Nephronic for the artwork.

At last, after all these years, this recording can be
heard at its best. Enjoy

Mastering notes

Mastered in Abobe Audition.
Bottom Channel removed as 6dB higher and clipping.
This is a mono recordings so upper channel pasted into
bottom channel. Parametric layers and normal EQ applied.
A little noise reductions and speed corrections from
Phantom onward (around 15% decrease total over the period)
Thanks to Steve for supplying this rare master he recorded
way, way back in the day :)

David Bowie The Savage Jaw Archives Volume 7

The Savage Jaw Archives.

The official SITA project in cooperation with Ziggy In Concert and Mind-Warp PaVilion.

Towards the end of the 1990's affordable home computers, CD copiers and internet connections forever changed the way that many music collectors traded their recordings. It became so much easier to contact other collectors from around the world without having to wait weeks for replies to letters, trades to be agreed and tapes to be copied, dispatched and delivered. Contacts could be made quickly and copies could be sent out quickly too. Unfortunately, the mail was still quite slow but it was all a big improvement in the opinion of many of us.

A group of traders would hang out at Ziggy In Concert forum and from there would get to know each other, arrange trades and generally have some fun whilst waiting for the mail to arrive.
(  or  for a little stroll down memory lane)

Move the clock forward to 2004 by which time many of us had "super quick" 512kbps home "broadband" and had become familiar with BitTorrent which enabled us to get recordings sometimes in hours rather than weeks. The focus for music collectors had moved once again. We were crying out for a Torrent site which specialised in the artist whose music had brought us all together, namely David Bowie.

Goodness only knows how much work went on behind the scenes but on April 1st 2004, Savage Jaw opened it's doors, inviting everyone in to join the swarm and enjoy David Bowie "At The Atlantis". Not everybody saw this development as a good thing but the vast majority welcomed the site and the recordings with open arms. Throughout it's relatively short lifespan, Savage Jaw operated strictly to the motto "Where Quality Counts". Everything available through the site was the very best available to us. Sadly, Savage Jaw as a Bowie Torrent site closed it's doors around August 2005 but left a legacy of which those involved can be justifiably proud.

Rather than forget about this legacy a fitting tribute was put together in the form of The Savage Jaw Archives.

An above average 1983 show. It’s hard to believe it has been so many years since Stevie’s death. Thanks for all the SRV on dime – keep the music alive!
This is not part of the essential SRV series of shows, but it isn’t as widely circulated as it should be. I think you’ll enjoy it.

Stevie Ray Vaughan – gtr of the gods, vocals
Chris Layton – drums and good vibes
Tommy Shannon – rock solid bass

Show Notes (thanks to fivehorizons):
Ed starts the show by arriving onstage via skateboard. 'Immortality' is renamed by people at the show as "Matt Fuckin' Cameron" due to his stellar work on this number. Ed notes, "... we're on our way to Philadelphia tomorrow ... and we haven't played there in a long time. We're going to have to get out of here early to be sure we get there in time ... it's a long drive." The crowd boos and Ed laughs and continues, "I'm just fuckin' with you. You like to be fucked with, right?" 'My City Was Gone' is by the Pretenders, who are from Ohio (Akron to be precise), and is a song about Cleveland. After 'Black,' Ed mentions that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland: "Earlier this evening, I know you've got a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...we drove by it, I don't know who runs the place, but...those people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones..." Jeff interrupts, saying: "And where's the fucking Iggy exhibit, goddamn it!" Ed chuckles: "So what I was gonna say, was, it's right by the airport, but we're a lot closer tonight, having Iggy Pop here, standing right here ... let's just say next time we play here, it could be a year, maybe two...we hope, if it happens... if Iggy's not in yet, after the show, we're all gonna go down there and blow the place up...speaking of the hall of fame [he holds up a sign saying 'Baba'] - the WHO!" and the band busts into 'Baba O'Riley.' [The Stooges, Iggy's first band, were recently nominated to the HOF, but did not get in.] 'Wishlist' ends with the "radio song" verse, but instead of saying "I guess it never stops" he says "I guess it has to stop". Jeff comes out for 'Yellow Ledbetter' wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey with Shawn Kemp's name and uniform number on the back.

This is being distributed by, and is part of a series of the best Pearl Jam shows in existance.

Description: OK gang, I'm not going to lie to you.  This recording is not very good.  BUT - I believe it's probably the best available quality.  Since Soul Tour leg shows are still SO rare, it's probably worth the download.  I took my original tape on this and speed corrected it, so now I can at least make out the dialogue ("lead guitar, Earl Slick."  "This is a fast song...".

This tape actually had great potential for a 1974, it has a strange sound, much more full than other '74 tapes, especially from the Soul Tour.  This leads me to believe that decent equipment may have been used, but it turns out distorted, for the setlist, pretty incredible that by this time Bowie was down to around 14 songs in the set, you can clearly here the hoarse voice in Young Americans.  Still, a historical relic, and outside the Maloney recording from 11/15, this is worth having.  If you don't have it grab it, and try not to grit your teeth too much.

and Reviews:

The Digital Dan:

Well there had been a 1st gen of this show passing around for a while, but it was always "hush, hush".  But enough people believed that it was as well kept a secret as ingredients to McDonald's special sauce on their Big Mac's!  To that end, this source is just a little different in that the master cassette was copied to HiFi VHS, well known to long time tapers as the DAT before there was DAT.  While not digital, the increased frequency range and signal to noise ratio resulted in a much clearer copy than could be obtained with cassettes. Having both versions of 1st gens, the HiFi version is clearly better.
Many Rush fans have long said that this show is the best complete show from the PEW tour.  And that was said in spite of the lower quality of the more circulated versions of the show.  But the 1st gen is a great step up in quality and clarity making this show an essential part of any collection.  Not only is the performance and sound great, take a look at the setlist.  Even though the epics were slightly truncated on this tour, this still has to be the best Rush setlist ever.  You get all the epics and a nice assortment of other classics to balance it out.  Thanks to Rubicon for helping to obtain this alternate source.  As with all Digital Reproductions releases, this is for free trade or blank media trade only.  Do not buy, sell or distribute for profit.  Let's keep the spirit of trading alive and well. (January 27, 2002)

This is a great show in all respects......Sound Quality, Setlist, and Performance.  Here are the details about the source:  Master Cassette > HiFi VHS > DAT > CDR (via digital transfer).  As Digital Dan mentions above, a "1st Gen" copy has been floating around for quite sometime, but this new source sounded much clearer and had more dynamic range than the aforementioned.  This show was taped by the same person who taped the Rush Hollywood '77 show (see review for Canadian Bacon-Platinum Edition).  That source also had a nice warmth to the sound just like this Ft. Worth '80 source.  We owe everything to this guy for making such great recordings!!  I hope everyone will enjoy this Platinum Edition as I will for many years to come.  THIS RECORDING IS AVAILABLE THROUGH TRADING. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS RELEASE, AS IT CAN BE OBTAINED FREE THROUGH STRAIGHT TRADES OR BLANK TRADES.  (FEB 'O2).

When I first began collecting Rush shows I spent much time on the DRE researching sound quality and set lists, trying to get the best shows I could. This performance was one of the first shows I traded for in the form of Three Magicians. I mean, take a look at the set list, what's not to love? Look at the Epics, look at some of the songs rarely performed. Actually, the truth of it is that I went for this show because it contained Jacobs Ladder, and was supposed to be the best sounding full show from that tour. I loved the show when I got it, but was a little disappointed with the sound. Imagine my excitement when I learned of a low gen version of this show making the rounds. When I listened to this version I was very impressed with the sound. All the instruments are loud and clear, Geddy's vocals right up front, good highs and very nice low end. I even noticed some crowd noise I hadn't heard before in the last track of the show when guy says to another "Sit down, damn it". Actually, it's hard to hear, but I can't recall ever hearing it before in the old version, as it was buried in hiss. Speaking of the audience, they are very well behaved around the taper for the most part. This version of the show was sourced from 1st gen VHS tape. I hadn't expected there would be that much difference in the sound quality over casette, but it is quite noticible. This show is a definate must for any collector of Rush live material.

Notes:  Recorded from section 120 on Geddy's side of the stage. Even though there wasn't a PA stack
pointed directly at my area this turned out well.  Both this show and Columbus on Monday seemed to need
a little more bass, but I think the mix was better in Chicago even though it just seemed a little thin to
my ears during the show.  Regardless, it was a damn fine show, and I'm happy to have been able to see
them twice on this tour.  Also, there was no outro video at the end of the show.  That was probably due to
the fact that the video feed to the big screen behind the stage went to a test pattern near the end of the show

The tape was stopped, or paused at the following points:
(A). After Total Eclipse (tape flip)
(B). After Iron Maiden (probably encore break)
(C). After Drifter (another encore break, but also a tape flip)
(D). After Running Free (presumably another encore break).

At each of these points there were significants changes in apparant volume
(due to the nature of automatic level control, as used in the recorder).
Also, usually there were additional artifacts (for instance very brief
drop-outs, or "thumps" caused by the magnet that served as an erase head).
I used bass filters, amplitude adjustments and cross-fading to smooth out
at all of these discontinuities except for (A) - the first tape flip.

The right channel was slightly under-recorded compared to the left, and
I adjusted the amplitude as follows:

First 45 mins:
Left channel + 1db
Right channel + 2.5db
Left channel (no adjustment)
Right channel + 1db

This is another Bowie show which I received in a CDR trade.  Once again with CDR's you can never be sure of the source material provide
however the notes that came with it stated it was from a Flac source.

So to the recording which is actually very reasonable indeed bearing it's age,and conditions it was recorded under, and is perfectly listenable.
It's not perfect by any stretch of your imagination but it's nigh on a full 1976 show which is a rarity in itself,
and consequently if you like this period in Bowie's history then you'll really appreciate this recording.

This is what the original notes that came with it said:

"Lineage: Trade CDRs > EAC (Secure) > FLAC > You

Artwork is included, courtesy of Mind-Warp PaVilion.

Tracks checked with TLH to confirm CDDA source.

OK, it's back to the Isolar Tour (1976) and another Old Gold release, although this was looking very doubtful
for quite a while. I traded this title with Cagey, and for some unknown reason all of the disks
I've tried to rip from his trades have been particularly

It took around two and a half hours to rip each of the first tracks -
maybe more, because I couldn't just sit there and watch it, but after that all of the other
tracks ripped without any trouble. While I didn't see it happen, the EAC text file tells me so,
but the first track of each disk had read errors and sync problems as well as several suspicious positions.
I've listened to each of these tracks and they sound fine to me, so I'm hoping that some of you fellows
here might like them also.

Sound quality is not perfect, but it's better than some of the 1974 torrents I've seeded, and also a
bit better than some of the Wembley shows. The first concert has a little low end distortion, and
also fluctuates between clear and muffled. I'm betting that the taper couldn't hold the mics up for too long. ;)
While they're quite enjoyable to my ears, I'd probably suggest they're probably not something the casual
Bowie fan might like, so please check a single file first if you have sound quality doubts.
So without any further ado, set your computer to do it's stuff, and enjoy. :-)
Note: This bootleg contained other tracks from different venues. These tracks are not included here"

Unfortunately the artwork relates to 3 Bowie concerts (4 Discs) from his American leg of his 1976
however I only received the Philadelphia show.  The shows not included were from Boston and Rochester, and if anyone
has those shows I'd be grateful if they could be seeded.

As always share freely but never sell.

Bowie is a current recording artist so support him by buying his official cd's and merchandise etc.

I hope you enjoy it and there's more to come

This recording has been circulating since '93 however this version is a new master cassette
transfer from my original analog master tape (Mar. 2010).

Second night and last show of the tour. Probably my all time favorite Sammy era show. They changed
the set a bit with a few different songs which was a nice surprise. Excellent recording.

This is upload #110 from my "Master Tape Collection". I have started uploading shows from
my 600+ masters which includes uncirculated recordings from 2003 thru the present. I've taped just
about every show i've gone too since 1986 so you can imagine i have a lot of masters to share. Most
of my recordings from 1986-2002 have been circulating as i used to do a lot of trading back in the day. All uploads however will be new master tape transfers directly from the master tape to CD.

Ballsdeep notes: I don't have much to say for this I wasn't even there. a friend (Dave P.) taped this in Sacramento
with his D-3 while I went to Mountain View for R.E.M and Sonic Youth on the same night. Stated as such as the recorder
and microphones are a bit different than the previous Oakland and San Jose gigs. and this is transferred from a 1st gen tape,
as he has the masters. I'm pretty sure this has never been uploaded's a solid show, and I do believe complete.

I will say that all 3 of these shows have a slightly 'hollow' sound to my ears.  I blame the Sony 909 mic, as a short
appeared my favored Sonic Studios (DSM6P) when at White Zombie in Phoenix on May 10, and I had to mail them to Oregon
via Express Mail to get them somewhat repaired (Leonard never did replace the wires, in 2016 the mics are on their last
legs) and returned for the rest of the trip starting with The Black Crowes May 17 in L.A.

I believe they'd be a bit more 'punchy' on the low end with the SS mics, but don't worry, having had a few years taping
experience at this point, they're still very solid documents of the time. or, Eddie sounds fine, and crowd noise is pretty
much at a minimum (again, this is after spot listens, haven't listened to every second of every show again, but I'm pretty
happy with what I hear), though this Sacramento gig has a bit more crowd noise than Oakland or San Jose.

Also, Slash's Snakepit opened (the only 3 shows of the VH tour doing so, they were a last minute add before Slash and Co.
headed to Japan), the San Jose and Oakland opening sets are complete, Sacramento I believe is the last 4 songs only, I
believe Dave got there late.

It sure is nifty how one can post show availability in a torrents comment section, send a show to someone over the interwebs
(sic) and have it uploaded in less time than just mailing tapes/cds one way in the mail.  BIG thanks to in_halen for the never know what may pop up next.

in_halen notes: Thanks to Steve H. (ballsdeep) for the opportunity to upload this tasty master! This is a very solid recording
of a vaguely controversial period in VH history; myself, I rather enjoy this period, though, to Steve's point, I also missed
this tour and saw the R.E.M. show instead, but, in Denver!

The sound on this one really good, definitely worth downloading if you don't have this one yet.
Thanks goes to the original taper, whoever you are.
