Jackson Browne Revisting the Albums Live Vol. 1, Jackson Browne (1972) and Vol. 2, For Everyman (1973)

JACKSON BROWNE
Revisting the Albums (featuring stories shared)
Vol. 1, Jackson Browne (1972)

This is a look back at Jackson Browne's eponymous first album (aka Saturate Before Using). The idea is to create a "storytellers" type compilation about the album itself and the songs on it. Of course, there are some songs Jackson has talked about over and over during performances and interviews, telling slightly different stories each time but generally following the same theme for each song. Then again, there are other songs which I don't believe Jackson has ever discussed publicly. "A Child in These Hills" and "Under the Falling Sky" are 2 songs from this album for which I could find no comments.

CDRs received in trade > EAC > HD > various editing (see below) > TLH > FLAC > You

All tracks were normalized to 98%, using EAC. Various tracks were shortened using CD Wave Editor. Audacity was used to modify the volume on certain tracks as well as to fade in and fade out.

Vol. 2, For Everyman (1973)

Lineage: CDRs received in trade > EAC > HD > various editing (see below) > TLH > FLAC > You

Various tracks were shortened using CD Wave Editor. Some were then combined using WAV Joiner Trial Edition. Audacity was used to modify the volume on certain tracks as well as to fade in and fade out. In addition, the speed was corrected on tracks 14 and 15, using Audacity.

This is the second in a series which looks back at Jackson Browne's commercial albums by incorporating on-stage stories and radio interviews concerning the albums and their songs along with selected live performances of each song on the album in the original order from the album. I know many people enjoyed Vol. 1, and I believe Volume 2 represents an improvement over that first effort. In addition to the initial trip through the album, this volume includes alternate stories about 4 of the songs, accompanied by alternate performances of those songs.

Jackson Browne performed an entire concert in 2004 in Topanga, CA, in which he looked back on each song on the For Everyman album and told stories about each one. I tried not to use any material from that performance, However, for 3 of the songs, that was the only recorded instance I could find of Jackson talking about those particular songs so I included a short amount of what Jackson said about each of them.

Since many of you probably don't have a copy of that particular show, I will upload it sometime after people have had the chance to download this one. The two will be quite different as the Topanga show was solo acoustic in its entirety. For this torrent I emphasized Jackson's performance of each song with a band if one was available and used no performances from the Topanga show. There are at least 2 recorded versions of the Topanga show. One has a few audio problems. The second, which is the one I intend to upload, was of much higher quality.

Most importantly: The intent of these volumes is to introduce you to Jackson Browne's albums or to renew your appreciation of them. All of Jackson's albums are still available, and hopefully if you don't have any of them or need new copies, this will encourage you to purchase them. They are available at Jackson's own web site (www.jacksonbrowne.com) and at Amazon.com.
