Volume reprofiling required during Absolute Beginners.
Tape flip between Fashion and Scary Monsters - clean join.
Some music in the background of the audience noise, early on disc 2.  Not sure if legacy recording on the tape, or more simply someone playing a radio in the crowd - but it's across two tape sides, so probably the latter.

iZotope RX2 denoiser - big clump of mess to removed.

First seven songs seem to have been recorded from outside of the venue, with a fair bit of noise from motor vehicles.
Noise removed between songs:
1. The Motel @ 1:45
2. The Man Who Sold The World @ 3:33 and 3:44
3. Boys Keep Swinging @ 3:21, 4:44 and 4:55

Further motor noise removed @ 5:57.  In between, a number of pops from kit being touched are reduced.
5. Not a lot I could do about motor noise over the last minute or so of Moonage Daydream.

Car door slamming removed immediately before the start of Look Back In Anger.

Tape flip between Look Back In Anger and The Hearth's Filthy Lesson - seamless.
Edit between The Man Who Sold The World and A Small Plot Of Land is on the source tape.

Conversation with passer-by that completely obliterates the music (38 seconds) at 45 seconds.  Simply removed.

Disc 2

2. Let's Dance
3. Fame
4. Time
5. Blue Jean
6. Modern Love

Notes

Soundforge Enhance tool, +3

Join on source between Fashion and Scary Monsters (assume tape flip).  While Scary Monsters was faded in, Fashion ended abruptly.  Fade added to Fashion to match.
Clearly an issue on the source, with the volume level being whacked to maximum early in Heroes.  Sound on Heroes reduced, but distortion still affects the song.  The next five songs are all missing, apparently while the problem is being fixed.
4:57 after the end of Fame, taper blows into mic - removed.
In the encore break between Fame and Time, there's a 2½ minute discussion between the taper and his mate(s) about who was responsible for batteries.  For the sake of sanity, all removed with fades!

And I'm still, thrillin'
For she was out on the road
Dancin' late at night
Seen my ride Sally ride
In just another moonlight smile.
Go ask Alice
In her Dallas Palace.
Bitch she's Madonna.
And she's on it!
Both beast and the beats
Beautiful, magical
Life's a ball
Where you find it
Keep it together
Forever and ever
Express yourself.

Notes: This is a rarity...a good quality show from 1980. This is from the tour that was done to break Adrian in. The sound quality is good considering the age of the recording. Also, one of my favourites from the self-titled, "Charlotte The Harlot" is played.

For the 2nd night I had seats on the side which I normally dislike but with the
U2 sound system it was an improvement. After 3 1/2 hours of sleep and a long day
at a work conference I was tired.  Arena was 41 miles away and was supposed to
meet a fellow taper who had my ticket between 7 and 7:30.  Goal was to arrive early
enough to eat and get set up by 6:30.  Traffic was hell and finally resorted to
side streets through San Jose. After 2 hours in the car dinner was obviously not
going to happen so stopped for french fries and the use of the bathroom.  I got to
arena at 7 and got a text my friend was stuck in traffic.  He arrived at 7:30 and
rushed in to set up.  Show started and both sound was improved and band was hotter.
After Beautiful Day Bono changed things up and they went into a great version of Bad.
Had to be the highlight of the show.  During the encore Bono pulled a kid up on stage
which was cool.  All in all a nice recording of a fun U2 show.

Just the basic taper requests here and please no vitriol:
Don't be an ass by selling this or using it in a video that is sold

Don't remaster and/or post on other sites that are not 100% free

*Iron Maiden 1980-10-09 Stockholm, Sweden - V3 (T-Mullet's remaster)

Stockholm Eriksdalshallen
Sweden
1980 october 9th
44:15 min
Linage: tape - ??-?? CD trade - me -wavleab - you
Flac files has been tested: OK

Remember boys and girls: the more you coments you write
the more you can get your grubby little hands on!
Besides it´s time to get more Maiden gig on dime, so be
the loving, giving person that YOU really are and share what you got!

1 Intro: Ides of march (fades in, almost everything is missing)
2 Sanctuary
3 Prowler
4 Remember tomorow
5 Running free
6 Transylvania
7 Phantom of the opera
8 Iron Maiden (tape-stop at 4:08)
9 Drifter

I have done a "re-made" again. The speed of this one was too slow
so i pitched it up almost one step. And i put two db in the bass
area and two db in the treble area. It´s not much of a change
(exept the pitch that is) but i didn´t want to ruin the recording
too much! It is slightly distorded, but you realy have to listen for it!

OK, this Iron Maidens first tour of Scandinavia opening for Kiss.

There is on three sad thing abou this one. The first one
is that Ides of march is almost gone. I would guess
the taper didn´t start the the machine for some reason.
The second one is, that the taper is sometimes talking to his
friend(s) Even thought that isn´t too hard to deal with.
Third one is that the recording and the place they played in
isn´t too great. The sound is distant even though the place in
itself ain´t too big. Eriksdalshallen is a fairly small place
and to me i can not come up with one good answer why it sound like
it does. Anyway this copy sound OK a 3- out of 5. Could be better
but then again, you have to have the original master!

On one ocasion you can hear one of the guys say, "det har gått fyrtio minuter"
In plain english that would be something like this: It´s been forty minutes now"
My guess is that the taper and his friend(s) was very carful to catch the entire
gig on one side of the cassette (45 min) so to make sure they don´t have to
miss anything the taper stops the recording after Iron Maiden and then starts
again before Drifter. Unfortunaly we miss acouple of seconds of Paul DiAnnos rant.
Well, that´s ok by me he doesn´t say anything intresting just mumble and sounds
like ha is haveing a good time. And for the hell of it he says it´s Iron Maidens first
time in Sweden!

Well, enough of my yakin´
Have a happy listening!

When these shows were announced I knew I was going even before tickets went on sale.  At that time
fellow Schoeps taper Scooter123 mentioned he wanted to go so we made plans accordingly.  When the
tickets went on sale we worked to secure the correct seats.  In the process I ended up with a few
extras in the 7th, 4th and 2nd row plus seats we wanted in section E.  As it turned out there wasn't
the buzz for these shows as I would have expected and it took effort to give all the good tickets a
home. Upon arrival I still had the 7th row ticket.  I arrived on Thursday night and met up with
Scooter123.  We made plans to meet a guy with extras for Friday.  One of these seats represented and
upgrade of 10 rows for Scooter123 which left us with one extra in the back of ection E.  We met up
with my friend Jay who lets me stay when I vist and since we knew selling the extra would be difficult
we told Jay he needed to get off work and go and we would give him the ticket for cheap.  After many
drinks we got confirmation he could do it.

On Friday I woke up did the traditional Zabar's run for breakfast and early afternoon got to Madison
Square Garden to meet Tom.  We soon learn security has changed and now everyon is wanded visitng the
box office.  Time for plan B and both Scooter and I were up for the challenge.  As a team we solved
the problem.  While waiting by the box office we ran into a guy trying to sell his single which was
3 seats from mine.  He wanted 200 or 250 for a $330 ticket but had no luck.  We went in and Scooter123 sat
in the seat until someone arrived.  No one ever did and he wa able to swich to the seat net to me. Jay
then took Scooter's set and was right behind us. This means the two ources are a comparison using MK41's
with an NBox and MK4's with an NBox Platinum.

The show started and we knew this was going to be one of the Clapton shows where he is having fun and
playing inspired.  When John Mayer came out for Pretending we knew some of the rumours we had heard about
guests were true.  Paul Carrick sang You Are So Beautiful which was a real treat and Nathan East sang
Can't Find My Way Home.  What a great version. The I Shot The Sherriff was one of the best versions
I have ever seen. Liten to the solo at the end, wow. Jimmy Vaughan joined in for Before You Accusr Me and
Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall III jpined in for Let it Rain which was the show highlight.  For the
encore all the guests joined in for High Time We Went.  Before the show the woman in front had the set list
and this was the only song I saw from afar.  It was a rarity but the crowd around me wa great so no
screamers or whistlers ruining this recording.

After the show we went to my frend's bar reenwih Treehouse int he West Village and the drinks were flowing.
I wa also waiting ona friend to fly in late Friday night.  She finally got to the barat 1:55 after flight delays.
We went and got food, brought it back to the bar and closed the place.  Back at Jay's place we listened to this
recording and talked til well after 5.  Good thing the next show was moved to Sunday.  To Be Continued.

Saturday was spent sight seeing and bar hopping in New York.  Took my first visit to the World
Trade Center memorial.  Very touching and moving.  Very tatefully done.  The area looks like
a wound that has almost healed over after all these years.  My friend then wanted to see the
Statue of Liberty so we went down to Battery Park for a view.  Fitting after seeing the 9/11
memorial. The rest of the day was spent barhopping, eating and drinking in New York.  Lots of fun
but it was not a crazy late night after the night before.  Can't keeptht pace up these days.
We woke up Sunday/Show Day and went to my friend's new restaurant for brunch.  The food was
exceptional.  Its a great new spot called Almond in Tribeca right next to Robert DiNero's Tribecca
Grill. I would strongly reommend the place if you are in NY. I was good and skipped the Bloody Mary's
since I knew I had a show a record. Everyone else made up for me though.

I got to Madison Square Grarden early and met Scooter123.  We repeated what we did the first night
to perfection.  When I went back later security was down right oppressive.  I had a pack of AA
batteries in my pack and they gave me the once over asking why I had batteries.  I played dumb and
said I didn't know. I wasn't aware I even had them since they were burried on the bottom. What I
wanted to say was Duh, I am taping the show, what else do you think I'm doing with them.  Glad I
only thought that.  Scooter123 and I both went in to the usual spot to rig up.  As I walk out a
security guy is heading in our diretion obviously looking for something.  Scooter came out right
behind me, problem narrowly averted.  My friend Jay meets us inside.  He took the 2nd row ticket from
me but later discovered row B was the first row in his section.  He was thrilled and got some great pics.
I was able to get my friend down to the row in front of me so she also got the seat upgrade.

The econd night was very similr to the firt except Cocaine was dropped and Let it Rain was the closer.
Same guests, probably a slightly better performance but the first night felt more spontaneous.  The
highlights for me were the I Shot The Sherifff and Let it Rain again.  Also the acoustic Layla was
beautiful.  Two days of gret music, great recording experiences and hanging out with great friends.
Doesn't get much better than that.

Notes

Disc 1 plus tracks 1-4 from Noggin version:

iZotope RX2 throughout, some quite persistent hiss.

Running a tiny bit too slow.  Speed correction with factor of 102%.

Reprofiled volume for 1-12:30 mins (Warszawa and Heroes) for patch that was too quiet.
Tapers needed to flip tape between Breaking Glass and Fame.  Gap removed and fade-out/in
Further problem @ 1:39 in Fame, with gap and some loss of music.  Fade-out/in

Second version used for tracks 5 onwards on disc 2:

Hang On To Yourself and Ziggy Stardust, right channel mute for most of the songs.  Replaced with left channel with 0.002 second offset.
Some mucking about with tape in the middle of Suffragette City - left alone.
Another clumsy join in crowd noise at end of Art Decade.  Removed.
Definite tape join on original between Alabama Song and Station To Station - removed with fade-out/in
Further joins on source tape between Station To Station and Rebel Rebel, and Rebel Rebel and Stay - left alone.
Something dropped during Rebel Rebel @ around 1:25.  Two bangs removed.

Remastered by Shaun Toole 7/2003

This recording and the Madison Square Garden 2/18/74 recording are commonly confused. There are two recordings of 2/18/74 - one a better quality Tales-only set, and one lower-quality recording of the complete show. The lower-quality version has speed problems which worsen as the show goes on, until by the time you reach Ritual you will be sea-sick. The first part of the lower-quality recording has been joined to this recording, and had led some to believe there was a complete recording of the 2/20/74 concert. However, this is not so. These four tracks are all that exists of the 2/20/74 show... as of my knowledge at this date.

Recorded from the first row of the balcony right of center.  The crowd was very enthusiatic during the show which fed into some high energy.
Unfortunately near me were the talkers having a conversation.  Why people come to a concert to have a conversation boggles my mind.
Stay home and watch the DVDs.

Tal Bergman - Drums
Daniel Sadownick - Percussion
Carmine Rojas - Bass
Kevin McKendree  - Keyboards
