Notes:  So 10 years ago last night... This venue is located just down the block from the infamous O'Farrell Theater, a strip club. On this night the band unleashed a torrent of new music that was to appear on its comeback album "Collideoscope" later in the year. The band is brimming with confidence as it delivers a half-dozen new songs to fans and the response in the auditorum is off the charts. "Song Without Sin" slicing, stacatto riffs stun the crowd, while the touching "Flying" is paired with "Open Letter (To A Landlord) as a tribute to 9/11 victims. "That was beautiful," Reid says after "Open Letter" noting the fans sing along to the latter. The Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows" gets an experimental treatment that the 1967 Fab Four would have no doubt appreciated as band strecthes out the theme to great effect.  The old songs are played with vigor and muscle on this night, which is a real victory for the band and a stunning example of musicianship and power. Throuhout the evening Glover jokes the band now has a new name: "The League of Negro Gentleman."
