This is an attempt at a - hopefully -  entertaining compilation about the year 2006. When I did my 2007/8 compilations I made one per every leg. Here I tried to put together a single one for the whole year and I hope it works. I have selected versions of 36 of the 80 different songs performed in 98 shows, from the last ever live performance of "God Knows" to the first ever of "Ain't Talkin'" plus some extra-tracks, closing with "Maggie's Farm", the first song of the very first show of the year, where the world first heard Bob Dylan playing the organ in concert. I am of course biased and therefore half of the tracks are from the Fall tour (for me one of the best parts of the whole NET) which are supplemented with a few tracks from each of the three previous legs.

I have included many of the year's often played standards, also some rarities like "New Morning", "Down Along The Cove" & "Queen Jane Approximately" and of course some of my personal favourites for 18 years like these versions of "Stuck Inside Of Mobile", "Summer Days", "Tangled Up In Blue", "Tears Of Rage" (the latter with  - for me - one of the most beautiful guitar solos ever created for this song) & "Every Grain Of Sand" (with beautiful instrumental parts), as well as some new-found favourites, especially this "Desolation Row" and a playful "Watching The River Flow". During the Fall tour Bob Dylan also introduced most of the new songs from Modern Times  & here I have added four of them, for example a gorgeous performance of "Nettie Moore".

The name of this compilation may sound a little bit strange, but in the version of "Don't Think Twice" used here I heard an amusing lyrical variation:

It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, Babe,
I'm on the dark side of the moon

At least that's what it sounds like and I couldn't resist using it as the title.
