Well, where do i begin for this one. All of us have special concerts that we look back on with the fondest memories and these two shows are it for me.
The mighty VH has always been my all time favorite band. These two shows from the 1984 tour were my 4th and 5th VH shows at the time. I was
extremely fortunate to see them in '79 (my second concert ever), '80 & '81 (they didn't play SD in '82 for some reason) and all of them are the greatest
concerts i've ever been too. These two in '84 however stick out the most because we were able to score 6th row dead center for both shows thanks to
my best friend Paul who's father was the controller at the Sports Arena (he scored those kind of seats all the time). When they booked the two shows
months ahead of time we were so excited that we were going to get two nights that all we talked about for those months was we can't wait.
Waiting was by far the hardest thing and it seemed like years till the time finally came. Well the time finally came and we made it an entire event, partying everyday
the week of the shows, we even got hotel rooms the two nights of the shows even though it was our home town. We were all so hyped up when it came to
showtime because we were about to see the mighty VH with such amazing seats which just took it up a whole 'nother level. Lights go out and the roar of Edward's
guitar comes at us like nothing we've ever heard, the trademark intro comes "Hello San Diego, i give you the MIGHTY VAN HALEN" and they launch into
Unchained (my all time favorite VH song), Dave does his classic jump off the drum riser (see photo #1) and we all go fucking nuts for 2 hours,
( i'm getting goosebumps writing this just from remembering back on it). What an amazing two nights. It's hard to believe it was 30 years ago last month.
Paul had taken a ton of pictures from the shows and i've included a few in the torrent. The photos used for the artwork are also from the shows. I was surprised
he got one off at the moment Dave jumped off the riser because at that point it was pure kaos. So sit back crank it up and enjoy the magic of Van Halen.

Here's the story on how i was able to get these recordings. One day shortly after the shows i was out and about and i ran into my old girlfriend and we got to
talking about some of the shows we had gone to, she mentioned to me that the guy she was living with had taped the two VH shows and i was like no way.
I asked her if there was any way i could get a copy of them, i didn't care how good or bad they were i just wanted to get a copy of the shows. She said she didn't
know but would ask him. A couple days go by and i call her and she said he was ok with me getting a copy. So i run over to their house and meet him and he lets
me look through his tapes, at this point i just about loose it. He's got all these shows he taped of concerts i had gone to and was blown away. He let me borrow
anything i wanted, he actually let me take the master tapes home and copy them. I get home throw them in my tape deck and was blown away by the sound quality
of these two shows, i couldn't believe how good they were. Well i ended up copying as many of his shows as i could which was about 20 shows in all. I will try and share
all of them in time, some of them i have never transfered. Unfortuantly i have no idea what type of equipment he used but it was good, probably a Sony D6 and a
good mic for sure.
