Many of you knew Dave Dingle and know he died earlier this year.  I am pleased to say that his video archive has passed to me with the express plan of preserving things the same way as before. Everything transferred direct from master to PC to you. Pass it on, we lost Dave but the videos we can preserve.  I will be crediting all his stuff as "The Two Daves". Some o Daves films will contravene the rules here, such films are eing posted elsewhere so if a number seems to be missing look at ElectricLadyland,

Remember even if you have some of the Daves films already that at best your copies will be 2 generations poorer than anything in the Masters series, so get em all. These will be with original sound though many will feature as sound upgrades with my two mates Yassou and Madhasse helping out.

Notes from the Re-master:
Since the source for this concert is a radio broadcast, the sound quality is generally good to begin with. The actual
source was a CD version of the master tapes obtained from the broadcasting radio station WNEW. We would like to
thank Shaun Toole for providing his remastered source to us for this project.

Viable music signal was present up to 18,000 Hz. This is quite rare for progressive rock concerts available from the
1970’s and makes this recording quite unique. A radio transmission or microphone / patch cord buzz occurred in the
left channel off and on throughout the show and needed to be corrected. Fortunately, the buzz was specifically identified
in the frequency spectrum and was surgically attacked. This approach produced a minimal effect on the remainder of the
music. Pops and clicks occurred frequently and were manually removed. Radio announcer volume was out of proportion
to the music in some segments and needed to be adjusted. Finally, only a slight amount of noise reduction was needed
during quite segments.

*From the PRRP website:
All remastered works are made with Cool Edit Audio Processing Software. When the source is a CD, The music is
ripped using Exact Audio Copy software. 6-Head Hi-Fi VCR is used when the source is video tape. An Onkyo cassette
deck is used for cassette tapes and monster cables connect the sources to the Sound Blaster  Audigy computer sound
card. This allows 24 bit A/D conversion. The system itself is a Dell Pentium IV running at 2.8GHz.

The 1976 Summer Tour began May 28, 1976 in Roanoke, Virginia. The Roosevelt stadium concert
was number 16 in a tour that would include 54 shows. The band members had recently finished solo
projects and had reconvened to begin their biggest American concert tour to date. At the time there
was still an enormous interest in the material from their most recent album Relayer. Gates of Delirium
and Soundchaser, both from that album, were played in Jersey City that night. From one that was there:
“We were there in 6 inches of mud in ‘76 at Roosevelt stadium in New Jersey for RELAYER”.
–Notes from the Edge

“Gates of Delirium is a war song, a battle scene, but it’s not to explain war or denounce it, really. It’s an
emotional description with the slight feeling at the end of ‘do we have to go through this forever?’ There’s
a prelude, a change, a victory tune, and peace at the end, with hope for the future….” –Jon Anderson

“Sound Chaser is like this madman from hell…an indescribable mixture of Patrick’s jazzy keyboards
and my weird sort of flamenco electric, which I’m sure has never been done before and will probably
never be done again!” –Steve Howe

Strangely enough, “To Be Over”, the last of the three songs from “Relayer” had been dropped from the
set list for reasons unknown, perhaps to allow the band to include a few more of the old stage favorites
like “Siberian Khatru” and “Heart of the Sunrise”.

“The concert was originally broadcast on WNEW from New York. According to former WNEW-FM DJ Richard Neer
in his book, 'FM', there was no mixing of the show being done by the radio station engineers; the feed going out
over the air was what the guy doing Yes' sound sent out. (This was because the manager of WNEW at the time
was too cheap to pay Neer and a sound engineer companion of his the few hundred bucks extra they would have
charged to do an on-the-fly broadcast mix). Hence the rather interesting variations in sound quality as the show
progressed.” –Forgotten Yesterdays.com

Another enthusiastic fan recalled: “It was 100 degrees that day.  When we finally got to the stadium, there was
about a battalion of police off to one side.  The line of fans was about 10 abreast and went around the stadium.
The police had bullhorns and were telling people "no glass inside the stadium". When we got inside, there was
a hot air balloon tethered over the stage, with the cover FROM TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS on it!
The opening was the Poussette Dart band. Between the opening and Yes, there were fireworks.  One of the
rocket stands fell over during launch and a rocket shot across the infield and blew up under a car! Finally, true
dark fell around 9:00 PM and Yes began to play. During the battle scenes in "Gates of Delirium", the laser
(electric green, dark blue) was shot into the audience in random, staccato bursts. Later, during "Soon", the laser
fanned out and spun over the audience, who craned up hands over their heads to touch the light.  -Notes From The Edge.

It is with great pleasure that we now bring you this remaster of a legendary performance by a legendary band.
Enjoy this great 1976 moment with Yes.

Taper's Comments:

1 - HELP!! If you have any uncirculated SPIRIT shows, or better quality FM
broadcasts than what's been posted here before, please share them. If you
know anybody who has shows that fit this category that aren't on DIME, please
dub off their stuff and share it. I'm trying to write a book on SPIRIT and need
all the information I can get. I have a database of over 1500 gigs 1967-1996, and
want to find as much information as I can to add to it. If you have any memories
of where you saw SPIRIT, the more specific the better (venue, city, date, supporting
bands, etc.), I'd love to know that as well. Please leave that in the comments
section or PM me. Thank you!

2 - Show description & comments follow:
This is one of those rare occurrences where the tape sounds better than what the ears
heard that night. The mix was just too loud, turning the eardrums into mush, but the
tape sounds good. Great band, still going strong, and a great show. It includes a rarely
performed "Cortez The Killer" more than ten years before it showed up in a studio version
on "A Box Of Birds". Enjoy!

Per Pimm:

"Although the organisers of this two-day festival are hoping for an attendance of 20,000 each day, only 15,000 turn up in all.  Things don't click with the band; Adam and Larry often play out of synch and Bono forgets many of the lyrics."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a special gift to us from danafletch, whose long history of collecting has resulted in the culmination of a monumental archive...and his willingness to share when called upon is equally remarkable.

This is one of four concerts I had hoped to torrent, but my versions (trade after trade after trade) kept resulting in accumulation of a frustrating collection of lossy versions.  It crossed my mind that possibly the frequency analysis actually represented the output from a low quality recorder, but Dana kindly ran his tapes for me, and has proven that there DO exist lossless, albeit mediocre, sources.

So, here is the first of these...Dana sent me the entire concert in two FLAC files.  After restoring to wav format with FLAC Frontend 1.7.1, I used CDWave to separate the tracks, and then ran them through CoolEdit Pro 2.0 to reduce hiss.  Dana advised me to try playing with the equalization, but I did not get the sense that boosting any of the frequencies was doing anything helpful, so I ended up not performing any graphic equalization.  If anyone who downloads this and listens thinks that some adjustment would, in fact, have been helpful, please feel free to chime in before any work is done on the others which will hopefully follow.  I think the lesson is that you cannot create soundboard material from a tinny original recording.

Justin has no description for this one...maybe if this is a new addition for him, he will also again help us with some rarities from his collection...there is mention of this one at achtungbootlegs.com, rated as "poor"...I would call Dana's version about 2.5 to 3.0 out of 5, so "fair" would be a conservative rating.  Vocals are clear, bass comes through reasonably well.  There are cuts between some tracks, I just left those as they were...anyone's guess if the original taper was saving tape between songs, or more likely editing had been done down the line.

This is clearly a rare concert, no cover art to be found...once again hope we can get help on that issue...

So, to summarize the route by which this is being shared here at U2Torrents:

danafletch Maxell XLII or TDK SA (unknown taper, equipment, lineage > Sony KETC5000S 3 head deck line out > PC line in > EAC (record WAV) > FLAC > ftp to petergoode > FLAC Frontend 1.7.1 to wav > CDWave to separate wav files > Cool Edit Pro 2.0 to remove hiss > FLAC Frontend 1.7.1 Level 6

Probably one of the worst bootlegs in the world. The show is barely audible, it's actually very hard to understand the songs. There's a lot of hiss in the recording, and the tape starts to skip at "John, I'm Only Dancing" and it only gets worse with time. An abysmal recordings only for the very hardcore completists.

The Masters Series was designed to enable us all to get best quality videos freely
Its always been my intention to preseve as many videos digitally as we can, so that
they will be there in the future. We are  all getting older and many of the original tapers
are now past retirement and sadly dwindling in numbers.
Thankfully I am getting some support from the old school and things are still coming
through if in spurts and starts. hence this one, which deserves further explanation.
This is a true find in many ways, oh sure you've seen it before, but VERY few people have ever seen it in this quality. Miss it at your peril.  When this first appeared transferring videos from US to UK format was big thing and very expensive. A transfer group of  people set up a group films were  obtained on Umatic tape the pro system at the time, then transferred, then a copy made to VHS pal which was then duplicated for others. We were all very pleased usually with what we got. But it was  usually 2-3 generations removed from the master. Well here is a direct from umatic copy...I promise you its well worth the effort.

Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.

He recorded many of the major 70's bands: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts.

Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.

Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.

Re-invaded version February 2013

Notes:

For the first track, the band plays as a quartet on and off as Dave Murray at times is nowhere to be heard. I am guessing that there was some technical difficulties.

Sound wise it really kicks off at 02:40. I am guessing the taper had some difficulties as well.

Didn't do much for this one. I wanted to add some top and get Steve out more. I've tried to remove/soften the umpf & distortion present due to the volume of the music.

Enjoy (or not)

==========================

Allright boys 'n' girls...

This is - not a lot of people know that - the second installment of the "Iron Maiden Bootleg Remasters" by (me) invader - I guess that you could call them "The re-invaded concerts".

The "Iron Maiden Bootleg Remasters" - "The re-invaded concerts", is just me having a bit of fun.
Listening to an old bootleg with the wrong pitch/speed is not much fun for me. Some has sound in the left channel only. Some flip back and forth between left and right, others are boomy, distorted and what not. In some cases this can be corrected - even by an amateur like me!

First of all, I am doing these remasterings for my own sake. However, if there is a chance that any of you would enjoy these too I am more than happy to share.
I do however feel that I'd rather do it right, so I will include my own coverart for each and every bootleg as well. What I do miss when seeing other peoples artwork is some sort of continuity. My covers will have a theme. I will try to include images, facts and tiny memorable stories that relate to the individual concerts as well - when possible. These may be wrong - correct me.

This is just a hobby! This is a fan doing something with his sparetime. If you enjoy, go nuts - if you hate it, leave it be!
Feel free to PM me with any constructive critisiscm that you might have.

I intend to do this regularly, but I really have no clue how often I will "release" these.

If you have any images from the shows (tickets, newspapers, flyers - anything), master recordings (for the best result obviously) please share in the appropriate forums.

I will give these "releases" a number according to it's completion; IM-BRM-001. If I revisit any of these, they will be numbered with a letter as well; IM-BRM-001a

This is a learning process for me as well, so I am sure some of these "releases" will be revisited at one point.

The sound quality is pretty good, but unfortunately on some songs the volume is not stable.

Very remarkable at the end of Solid rock: some funny Laurel & Hardy notes on keyboard!

Apart from the missing outro of The man's too strong, complete show.

This is a very rare recording. Much of it emerged on a the CD - BUT, in abbreviated, and rough,
form - as if it were from a rough vinyl pressing.

This is a slightly re-worked version - I have done my best to sort out the channel bias, widen the sound a little (sounds good in headphones in particular that way), and reduce some of the hiss (a little - I don't like hiss removal, as that way you remove music too).

The raw version is up on Hunger City for those who prefer 'untampered with' recordings.

I would rather torrent this myself on this occasion : if you would like to torrent this elsewhere,
please consult me first.

In the meantime, enjoy.

The process I use in Audacity to widen the sound, usually consists of the following -

-9db decrease (as the mixing and combining needs space)
double up the tracks, add .01 sec delay to one of the channels, split channels and mix either side (balance achieved through trial and error)
Combine above doubled up track with untouched track with the latter at a higher level. The above mixing while giving a nice widening effect I am more than aware can sometimes sound artificial to some, and I have found combining it with the untouched file means a balance is achieved between the raw sound of the original and the mixed version. Studios used - and I'm sure still do - used to resort to all sorts of double tracking and compression effects and the bottom line is this method I found by trial and error sounds good to me and others. Those who do not approve or find it does not sound good to them - no-one is forcing you to download this.
Voila...I listen to live recordings in headphones for the most part, and many people listen in headphones / earphones these days.
This may sound better to many like that, and I am aware that through conventional speakers this sort of mix / re-work may or may not sound as good as an untouched version. It's very subjective, and very much down to individual preference.
Where I don't provide samples the downloader who is unsure about this can simply pick one or two tracks to ascertain how good this is, just as I do.

Re balancing and tuning of the sound carried out with mda_image and high and low pass filters in
Audacity.

"Mason B. Taylor was a taper from Chicago that recorded concerts by many bands in the Chicagoland area and on Dead tours. He used a Nakamichi 550 with Nakamichi 300 mics with shotgun capsules for most of his earlier recordings. In later years he used Sony D-5 and Sony D-3 cassette recorders with Nakamichi 300 mics.

Mason captured spectacular musical moments and loved to share them with his closest friends. In honor of Mason and all the love he put into his recordings we are now able to share these moments with those who can appreciate them most.

As the shows get uploaded we would love for you to share your stories about the epic times the music evokes so we can all dial back into that moment when the magic was happening.

Thanks to Mason’s family and his Chicago and Cleveland friends for opening up Mason’s Jar…"

Stevie Ray Vaughan 1975-00-00 Texas

Paul Ray & The Cobras with Stevie Vaughan

Texas 1975

Opening for Stone Ground from San Francisco

Here is my take on this rare and 2nd oldest Stevie material I have heard,  I think these tracks are from a few locations.
They show a great young Stevie Vaughan who is was 21 at this time.

In late 1974, SRV joined the popular Austin band Paul Ray & The Cobras, averaging five gigs a week for the next two-and-a-half years.
They released a 45rpm record, his second appearance on vinyl, and won "Band of the Year" in an Austin music poll.
The record, however, didn't attract major record labels. In 1977, Vaughan left The Cobras and formed Triple Threat Revue
with Lou Ann Barton on vocals, W.C. Clark on bass, Mike Kindred on keyboards, and Fredde Pharaoh on drums

My thanks goes out to Vince at SRVrocks.com for his endless generousity in sharing this gem and many many
others with myself and others.
