Ok, this one needs some explaining. Possibly the strangest show I have ever been too. When the show was announced it was billed as a Kip Winger solo show, which is usually Kip and his acoustic guitar. A few months go by and BulletBoys and Tracii Guns are added to the bill, with Kip still listed as the headliner. On Facebook someone even asked if BulletBoys and Tracii were going to do acoustic, and the answer was no, Kip will be doing half electric himself.
So when I get there the first band I catch is Stomping Melvin, who do cover tunes, at least for this show. Then they mention they will be back with Kip. So that answered the "who is playing electric with Kip tonight" question. Set ends, wait, and then who comes on next but Kip. He plays about an hour, half acoustic, then finishes with electric. Kip ends, mentioned the BulletBoys, and then leaves the stage. Set change, then the next band isn't BulletBoys but a band called Killer Bee. They have Paul Chapman from UFO fame on guitar. They play and get to the half hour mark, start to play another song, and the house music and lights come on and the curtain covering the front of the stage closes.
Next up is in fact the BulletBoys who put on a great 45 minute set. Very high energy. Then up next turns out to be Tracii's Gunzo project with Rudy Sarzo and Keith St John. They go for about a half hour when a string breaks on Tracii's guitar. The roadie gets him another one, which he strums for a bit before putting it down, going to Keith and tells him he's out of guitars. He then goes up to Rudy and tells him the same thing, then walks off the stage. The band plays Rock Candy as a three piece then stops. Rudy goes to the back of the stage where there is a door and opens it looking for Tracii. Tracii comes back up, says have a great night and leaves, ending the show. Have to say I wasn't impressed.
Will be posting the BulletBoys set as well, if there is any interest I can post both Killer Bee and Gunzo's half hour sets.
Thanks
