Welcome to Volume 190 of the "Two Of Us" Master Series.

Between 1983 and 2002 there were not any tapers more active than the "Two Of Us". For the better part of two decades they taped over 250 artists with an array being taped multiple times.

If you collect Springsteen then you are already familiar with some of their work, "fmcleanboots" has posted a half dozen or so of their "Tunnel Of Love" tour shows but has decided to pass the baton

What you don't know is their passion was not just for Springsteen but for music and that passion runs deep. It is astonishing how many artists they taped.

They followed tours taping club shows, theater shows, arena shows, big artists, mid-level artists and local artists.

If they were following a tour and the tour had an off night they'd see who else was playing that night to tape. Always focused on enjoyment of the show as the priority,
tickets were for the most part acquired outside of the venue as they worked to obtain the best possible seats, continually trading up until the correct seats were acquired.

The results of this were the captures are uniformly excellent but on occasion the start of the show was sacrificed as a trade-off for the seats.

The heavy lifting was done by the Sony WM-D6C and an external Shure Mic before moving to DAT for the last couple of years. None of their masters have ever been circulated and
have been safely stored for the past three to four decades in a climate controlled environment. Tapes transferred so far are in pristine condition.

Though we may do some mini releases of a series of shows in order for one portion of a tour for the most part shows will not be released in order, there are just too many of them.

This will be a very exciting series and we hope along the way we upgrade existing circulating audio and offer up shows that do not have any circulating audio, enjoy the ride, this is definitely not a dark ride.

Talking Heds @ Paramount Theatre - Staten Island, NY August 20, 1982

Volume 190 features a second source of Talking Heads 1982 stop in Staten Island.

By far the smallest of the 3 New York area shows at a capacity of around 2000, we are fortunate there were multiple decks rolling that night.

Two Of Us' capture is a solid recording and a highly recommended theatre performance.

Artwork and samples are provided.

A big thanks as always to "Two Of Us", their dedication to capturing all these legendary performers and shows many heard hear for the first time, the HOURS and HOURS spent waiting in line, traveling, money on tickets as well as trusting me to be the caretaker of their life's work, our little community is indebted to you both. Also, a big thank you to my friend "fmcleanboots" for putting me in touch and laying the groundwork that has resulted in all these great releases...we've barely scratched the surface. The amount of completely uncirculated shows they taped and continue to get into my hands for release is staggering.

And as always thanks to Goody for his continuing support of this and all our other historic releases ensuring we are running in the correct pitch.

Mick Taylor 1993-06-30 The Dell Columbus, OH(Vol.11)

 CD1:
Part I: The Radio Session
30th June 1993: US radio (WCBE-FM), Columbus. interview with MT and Jimmie Wood
Host: John Peterson
Line-up: MT (gtr)/Jimmie Wood (gtr, voc, harm)
We have different versions but only the one coming from nzb was lossless. I chose not to use filters to maintain the sound quality and I kept short discussion parts to introduce or conclude the songs.
01 - Long Distance Call
02 - short discussion with band presentation and tuning
02 - Stop Breaking Down Blues
04 - My Little Machine

Part II: The Live Show
30th June 19993: Columbus, Ohio, The Dell
Line-up: MT (gtr, voc)/Jimmie Wood (voc, harm, gtr)/Jimmy King (gtr, bvoc)/Greg Boaz (bass, bvoc)/George Kelly (dr)
We have 2 versions:
Nzb’s version (I call it source #1) is more complete but with some gaps and it’s altered in the first track.
My version (I call it source #2) is not altered in the beginning but is missing the first seconds and  ‘You Shook Me’ completely.
Comparing both versions with the previous show demonstrate that source #2 was at the good speed when source #1 has to be decelerated by -2%.
I decided to use both versions to get the most complete recording: as usual the recordings are declicked and balanced.

05 - intro (first #1, then #2)
the 8 first seconds are from source #1, the rest is from source # 2
06 - Ride With Me (first #2, then #1)
until 1’20 is source #2 but all the rest is source #1.
07 - Badmouth Mama (#1)
from source #1
08 - Hoodoo Thing (#2)
from source #2 with a 2 second patch from source #1 at 3’41
Note that source #1 has also a gap and 43 seconds were lost
09 - How It Feels (#1)
there was a gap in the start on source # 2
10 - You Shook Me (#1)
(missing from source #2) in two parts reconnected on source #1 (note channel variations at the end of the song).

CD2:
01 - Stop Breaking Down Blues (#1)
note: source #2 misses the beginning
02 - Blues In The Morning (#1)
note: source #2 misses the end
03 - Ice Pick’s Confession (#1 then #2)
source #1 is saturated but includes the 53 first seconds (banter)
04 - Cairo Motel (#2)
source #1 is saturated
05 - You Gotta Move (#2)
source #1 is saturated
06 - You Don't Miss Your Water (#2)
source #1 is saturated and miss the end
07 - band intro (#2)
missing on source #1
note a gap during the encore break
08 - Talk To Your Daughter (#2)

It seemed a little complicated but both recordings completed each other very well and the result is nice.

Notes:
Nice change of pace during Jazz Fest, getting to walk to and from the show, getting to sit down,
getting to be back by 11:00 pm. And in a beautiful venue restored after the flood. The house mix
was quite low, so I had to goose the levels during the first song @ the 2:00 mark, and the crowd
is loud between songs. Otherwise, sound is excellent. Samples below. Enjoy!

Jimi Hendrix plays Other People's Songs

Jimi Hendrix plays O.P.S.

[Jimi Hendrix plays Other People's Songs]

This is a compilation I made for my own enjoyment of a lot of the covers Jimi played throughout his career. Since its not really bad I thought I'd torrent it here. There's scores of people who have all this material and this torrent might be more interesting to the casual Hendrix fan who's just started collecting, maybe not.

There are enough Other People's Songs to fill a big multidisc compilation but this should be a nice appetizer to start collecting Hendrix :-)

Soundquality ranges from good-enough to just-brilliant.

Please note that Extreme Care has been taken not to include any officially released or OOP material. Some selections are available from other dates/gigs but they are officially released. The stuff in this torrent is NOT to be found on any official or OOP release.

The tracks:

1. Get out of my life woman - comp. Allen Toussaint - rec. 1965-12-xx - with Curtis Knight and the Squires. [Master>Cassette>CDR, NO vinyl in the lineage]

2. Hoochie Coochie Man - comp. Willie Dixon rec. 1968-xx-xx - with unknown musicians in a unknown small club presumably in NYC [presumably 1st gen. cassette>CDR]

3. Can you please crawl out your window - comp. Bob Dylan - rec. 1968-05-10 - Fillmore East NYC. [presumably 2nd gen cassette>CDR]

4. Tax Free - comp. Hanson & Karlsson - rec. 1968-05-26 - Bologna [3 source stereo merge by Vibratory]

5. Dear Mr. Fantasy - comp. Traffic - rec. 1968-08-03 - Dallas [presumably 2nd gen cassette>CDR]

6. Like a Rolling Stone - comp. Bob Dylan - rec. 1969-06-20 - Newport Pop festival [presumably 1st gen cassette>CDR]

7. Sometimes I wonder - comp. Curtis Mayfield - rec. 1969-06-22 - Newport Pop festival [presumably 1st gen cassette>CDR]

8. Bleeding Heart - comp. Elmore James - rec. 1969-12-31 1st show - BOG Fillmore East [1st gen AUD source]

Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze" The jimi Hendrix Story

"PURPLE HAZE" - THE JIMI HENDRIX STORY

Originally broadcast January 2002
Presented by Gary Moore

01. part 1 (46:55)
02. part 2 (39:13)

Gary Moore tells the story of the greatest guitarist of all time and one of the most influential figures in rock music.

"I put on my Hendrix album and my son said 'Daddy, who's that' and I said 'well son, that's God'"- Robert Plant

The story of Hendrix's life unfolds over two parts, from his troubled boyhood in Seattle, through his days in the army and his early career as a jobbing musician supporting everyone from the Isley Brothers to Little Richard. True fame came when he was discovered by Chas Chandler of The Animals in a Greenwich Village café - Chandler offered to manage him, took him to swinging London and formed the Experience with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell.

The release of Are You Experienced in 1967 announced the arrival of a major new talent, taking the British rock world by storm and setting new standards in guitar playing. Over the next four years Hendrix would revolutionise music, release a trio of groundbreaking studio albums and perform some of the most (often literally) incendiary live shows in the history of rock. There can be no better elegy for the war torn, drugged up, crazy sixties than Jimi's Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock.

When Jimi Hendrix died in London on September 18th, 1970, he left behind a legacy of music which still influences musicians to this day. It's worth remembering that everything on which Hendrix's reputation rests was recorded in just three years. The flood of albums released posthumously are testament to his prolific talent.

The programme features archive interviews with Jimi himself, and we also hear from Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding, Chas Chandler, Brian May, Robert Wyatt and Jimi's longstanding girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham.

Mick Taylor 1993-06-19 R.I.B.C.O. Bar Rock Island, IL(Vol.10)

19th June 1993: Rock Island, Illinois, R.I.B.C.O. Bar
Line-up: MT (gtr, voc)/Jimmie Wood (voc, harm, gtr)/Jimmy King (gtr, bvoc)/Greg Boaz (bass, bvoc)/George Kelly (dr)

01 - tuning
only the last 9 seconds are merged the rest is solely coming from the video
02 - Ride With Me
03 - Badmouth Mama
04 - Hoodoo Thing
at 2’06 I used a 0,5 second patch to compensate the gap between the VOB files
05 - How It Feels
06 - Shake Your Hips
from 10’27 until 10’44 it’s solely coming from the video
07 - You Shook Me
at 1’01, I used a 0,5 second patch to compensate the gap between the VOB files

For this show we have a video and an audio: both come from nzb and have not widely circulated.
The sound was average and contained many clicks that BT2G helped me to reduce. Although the audio comes from the video, a merge of the two turned out to be interesting: it is this version that you will find here and that BT2G will use in the reworked video (that he will present in parallel).
The audio version had to be slowed down by -0.7% to more than -2% to be synchronized with the video.
One of the 2 versions (or both?) has speed variations, so the sound is not very centered and therefore wanders a little from one channel to another.
Note: At the end of the video, we can see Jimmie Wood taking his guitar certainly to perform solo. Sadly, the end of the show was not recorded.

LINAGE:
Original C2C CDRs -> WAV (EAC) -> FLAC (flacfrontend) -> you

COMMENTS:
This is the Coast2Coast CDR release of the Essen 1970 concert
Together with VGP's "Two Great Albums Cheap", it's the best bootleg of this show - they did a great rework on the original recording from vinyl
VGP copied this release.....as well as a lot of other C2C releases. C2C was an excellent bootleg label in the late 90s.

It's the best audience recording from the European Tour 1970.....allthough Berlin (Sept. 16th 1970) is a close 2nd

QUALITY:
Good - Very Good Mono (Audience)

ARTWORK:
Included!
The ones I found online were useless, so I made new scans today

NOTE:
The coverwork reads that Let It Rock and Little Queenie are 2 seperate tracks (as they should be), but it's not like that on the CD(R).....they are recorded with no track seperation.....no big deal, though

TRACKLIST:

01. (audience)
02. Jumpin' Jack Flash
03. Roll Over Beethoven
04. Sympathy For The Devil
05. Stray Cat Blues
06. Love In Vain

Jimi Hendrix

The Original Vinyl Transfer Series

This is a fantastic 20 volume vine that comes from JPIO - a Jimi Hendrix vine group.

The charm of this set is that it has been tranferred straight from vinyl without lots of
remastering so it is like listening to the original vinyl and in places you can still hear
the pops and crackles which were such an important feature of listening to an LP or single on a turntable.

You can find a full track listing and a little more information at the following URL

http://seminorvege.com/hendrix/ovt/batch1.html

You can also find comments on this set at In From The Storm

Below is a note from Hans-Peter Johnsen who transferred these albums.  A big thank you to him for all his hard work.

First part of a series of Vinyl-to-CD transfers of Classic Hendrix Bootlegs.
Transferred from Mint & Excellent condition vinyl albums. All albums normalized,
but otherwise left mainly as is - just a few very audible vinyl pops have been removed here and there.

Please note: Vinyl bootlegs were mostly pressed in low cost factories, and the quality of the LPs - although
unplayed and untouched by human hands - weren't always the best. Some minor pops and clicks are present on some
of these discs, as they were on the LPs when these initially were brand new. If minor clicks make you nervous,
you should definitely stay away from this set.

7. all along the watchtower 1.16
8. bright lights big city 1.49
9. acoustic jam with mitch 32.34

A small collection of Jimi mainly playing acoustic. This ranges from studio demos to material from jam sessions.
The first four tracks are not as widely circulated as the other more well known acoustic Electric Ladyland sessions.
Tracks 5 and 6 are from a tape containing various tryouts of numbers and a jam session with Paul Caruso.
They have never been circulated before and 'Our Lovely Home' is a new and unheard number.  Luckily it can be identified from the lyrics Jimi wrote.
Tracks 7 and 8 come from a circulating tape called 'All the ugliness in the world'but they are the only musical fragments on it.
The final track is a long acoustic jam with Mitch Mitchell thought to originate from February, just before the start of the US tour in April 1970.

Notes (original):
This was the 58th upload of my concerts collection recorded in Lyon (France) between 1982-1990.
The Cult were recorded for Radio Bellevue at the West Side Club (Lyon) inside the famous Palais d'Hiver.
I was using a very basic system for recording: soundboard outputs + a couple ofambiance mikes (Sennheiser) standing in front of the scene, mixed with 4-tracks desk to a Sony TDC5M with
headphones on-the-fly.
LTC Contrast clause : better numerisation than the former one ... with a Nakamichi, it's a dream (merci Julien) !
I'm now sure that my tapes sound better and run at the right speed ... have had a lot of speed problems for some of my former LTC tapes

TRIXTER

ÒWSOU-FM BenefitÓ
On Stage (club)
Staten Island, NY

1988-04-02 (April 2, 1988)

Lineage: low generation analog cassette (FM broadcast)

Notes: This radio broadcast is far from perfect but it isnÕt horrible either. There is the occasional interference/dropout but overall considering this is the earliest known Trixter show in existence itÕs pretty damn cool. The show was part of a college radio broadcast for a WSOU-FM (Seton Hall) benefit. The station did these shows once or twice a year as I recall to help raise operating costs. Do to it being a college station it had its technological limitations but it was/is a pretty strong-signal station in the northern NJ/NYC area for the day. The really special thing about this Trixter performance is it is almost a full two years before their debut album would be released. None of the songs played this night appeared on the 1990 debut album.

Set list:

01. Shout
02. Physical Attraction
03. What Does It Take
04. Hold On
05. Top Of The World

Time: 24:43 (complete show)

 Paul McCartney 1989-90 Tour
 Gothenberg Sweden
 Source Two Boot CD
 September 28, 1989
 008-PMWT

For years myself and many others were under the impression there was only one source tape for this show. To clarify, by source I am refering to the original master source, not the bootleg source. Some people confuse the issue and like to refer to sources by the boot release when they actually all originate from the same ROIO. In comparing my cassette RIP to the common circulating show for quality I found that they were different tape sources. This post is the latter boot CD release.

This recording I found from several sources, none of which identified the origin of the recording. It's cleary was a RIP of a CD in all cases as they were all identical aside from the fact some had the song titles and some were just labled by track numbers. All sources were clipped so I did a clip restoration on the tracks as well as an automatic phase correction. Made a slight improvement but the original unclipped master would be prefered. Tracks were left named as original.

Thank you to techtuts teaching me how to master my own recordings!!
Your guidance and patience is tremendously appreciated!

I have been a huge KIX fan for decades. Taking their limited touring schedule into account, I never thought I would have the chance to see the band live.
When it was announced that KIX would be performing at the annual Hair Metal Holiday festival in Dallas, I bought tickets immediately. I patiently taped every band on the bill while waiting for KIX to take the stage. I can safely claim that KIX blew ALL nine other bands off the bill! The only disappointment was KIX's brief 45 minute setlist. The obnoxious 5th generation pop-metal act, Slaughter, were scheduled to close the show with a 55 minute set. This really angered me.
I believe KIX should have closed the concert with a 90-120 minute set!!!

Slaughter sucks on so many levels!!!
However, that is a story best saved for the liner notes of my Slaughter Hair Metal Holiday master recording...

I did tape the ENTIRE Hair Metal Holiday 2016 festival, 9 bands in total.
Over 6 hours of crunchy riffs, banshee screams, and the moans of cougars in heat!
The sound quality varies.

I will release all of my Hair Metal Holiday master recordings as time allows.
All you need is just a little patience...

The Hair Metal Holiday show was the best entertainment value of the year!
Nine bands live at an indoor hard rock festival, hosted by Eddie Trunk!
My ticket cost me only $25, which is 1/12th the price of ONE Guns N' Roses "Not In This Lifetime" tour ticket!

I'd also like to extend a colossal THANK YOU to hedspace, for the reserved seat suggestion, and for keeping me hydrated during this marathon show!

This KIX recording is my first attempt at mastering a recording using the tools recommended by techtuts!
Feedback would be appreciated!

Source: Cassette from the collection of Wally Breese, audience source but original tape was missing Angie; Angie noted as added from a second source who also taped 9/5/92

Transfer: JVC KD-W5 > Realistic 31-2020 10-band stereo equalizer (tape hiss lowered by lowering 8KHz) > Marantz Stereo Receiver SR940  > Line Out/In > CoolEdit Pro (append tracks, set both channels to right channel, hard limiting, amplification) > CDWave (wav splitter) > Wavs > Trader's Little Helper > FLACs > FLAC tagging (MP3tag v3.05)

Notes: The beginning of the show was extremely low in the left channel until partway through Happy Phamtom, so to avoid adding extra hiss on only the left channel, for this portion I set both channels to equal the right channel. The remainder of the show was fine in both channels. Angie (from the second source) is slightly overloaded.

Additional Info:
Part of this show ended up on several silver bootlegs, including After the Rain and Years of Silence, but neither were complete.

A circulating tape dated 9/10/92 Foxboro, MA was presumably from a live broadcast on the east coast on that date. The SATY story from the Foxboro tape is the story from 9/4/92 and Tori was in Los Angeles on 9/10/92, so the tape's date could be an airing date. The Really Deep Thoughts mailing list archive has posts related to a Boston station airing a live show on 11/10/92 so I'm speculating that the Foxboro tape may have really been from the 11/10/92 radio broadcast and not 9/10/92.

Bob Dylan 1989-09-10 Greek Theater Los Angeles, CA

Bob Dylan and his band

1989-09-10 Los Angeles (The Greek Theater)

From my cassette (received in trade, 1994 -- zero lineage info, but no hiss to speak of).  A different recording from LB-535/LB-9354, based on the little foreground whoop on the very last note of track 01 on this one, which is not present on LB-9354.  This is also just in the B range for sure, but I find it to be a little more upfront.

FIRST SHARED: 2018-07-27

WHAT I DID: Cassette > WAV > Sound Forge (split into tracks) > FLAC > MP3tag (tagging)

All thanks to the original taper, and to the person who sent me the cassette.

 007-PMWT

For years myself and many others were under the impression there was only one source tape for this show. To clarify, by source I am refering to the original master source, not the bootleg source. Some people confuse the issue and like to refer to sources by the boot release when they actually all originate from the same ROIO. In comparing my cassette RIP to the common circulating show for quality I found that they were different tape sources. This post is my cassette RIP.

New transfer  - March 2025.

The sound on this recording is not as good as I remembered, so this would be for the collector and the completists.

Incomplete recording! The intro and half of the first song is cut, as I had just finished taping another show at another stage, and ran over to tape this show. I hit "record" as I walked into the tent.

The spectral Analysis of this recording looks awfully close to that of an Mp3. Make no mistake! This is NOT lossy or from a lossy source. Feel free to run your own analysis, as it will verify.

Tori Amos 1992-04-20 Bottom Line New York City, NY(late)

Fine performance before a devoted audience; enjoy.  Beware of Tor's enormous range of vocal levels!  Thanks and appreciation are owed the recordist, of whose name I am unaware, for the fine source recording. The torrent has applause in balance, many talk and some music levels raised, hoots, etc. removed or reduced, and is nearly free of audience chatter. It is a fresh transfer from my copy and therefore will differ from previous versions of this performance, if any.

Faults: Mild and infrequent usual audience interference, bar sounds. The raising of levels introduced the occasional higher hiss level.

Notes:

All syncing and blending performed in Cooledit Pro.  The battery on the scanner unit started to die about
half way through the show so its signal became weaker and started to distort the bass.  You will notice that
after Heroes you can't hear much of the IEM's "punch" but it is still an excellent audience recording.

David Bowie was one of my top 5 favorite artists so his death has hit me really hard.  I wasn't going to release
this but felt compelled to share something with my fellow Bowie fans.

These are free-form jams made in between sessions for the Cry of Love album. They were made for fun and not meant for public consumption, so they are not developed to perfection the way his studio albums were.  These tracks are, however, a very interesting perspective of Hendrix as he responds to other musicians in this relaxed setting.  ...A very interesting, if not perfect sounding recording.

....enjoy...

Transferred from a clean (not mint) pressing through a very nice Rane mixer with minimal processing (a little bass boost to fatten it up a bit) ...recorded direct to cd on a quality Tascam unit and then cut into tracks using Sound Forge.  I did normalize the tracks to give them greater presence in the digital realm, but no compression was used and no click or crackle removal... just good clean vinyl.

ICED EARTH

Venue:    Milk Club (Small Stage): Moscow, Russia
 Date:    November 29, 2011
 Time:    74:38/23:54
 Size:    2 CDs

Taper: Felix (www.bootlegs.ws)
Equipment: Edirol R-09HR (16/44) + SP-CMC-8 (Baseball Cap Mounted)
Lineage: USB transfer to PC -> Adobe Audition 1.5 (some editing incl. normalize) -> CD Wave (track splitting) -> TLH (FLAC 8, aligned on sector boundaries) -> you
Sound:    B+/A-, AUD, master
Notes:    The first time for the band to perform in Moscow and sadly without Matt. Stu sounded good but I'm sure most of the people in that suprisingly small hall wished there was a red-haired singer.
Anyways, pretty standard setlist for that tour but we were lucky to have a longer set of 16 tracks since many other cities in the bands tour run had only 12. The first track suffered some problems with
my battery box, I plugged it off after it and went mic-in and the result is pretty darn good sounding.

Thanks to Tonstone, the original uploader, who wrote:
The story behind the recording:

Guys thank you for all your posts. I Have felt guilty that I was taking and not giving so I decided to try and work out how to post a recording.
This is my first attempt, so please go easy on me.

The story behind the recording:

After dashing home from work all excited that I was going to see the Stones - meeting my brother at Edinburgh Bus Station to board a bus direct to Hampden Park Glasgow - only to discover we had been ripped off and no such bus existed. Plan B - taxi back to my house ... with 3 other stranded Stones fans we met ... pick up my car, drive to Glasgow in record time ... no Drink as I am Driving.

Got into stadium just in time to see local support band GUN - they went down a storm with the Glasgow crowd [Check out their album GALLUS]. Then the Stones ...

Ok, rather than describe the show you can hear it here. The show was on a Monday night. The following Sunday I went to the Edinburgh Ingliston Market hoping my reliable friends had recorded the show and would have copies ready. Not letting me down the guys had recorded and were selling 'Hot off the press' copies Of THE ROLLING STONES LIVE AT HAMPDEN PARK, Glasgow. The tapes I picked up were direct copies from the master.

So what you have here is a 1st generation recording. In order to make the show complete, I added the CONTINENTAL DRIFT INTRO from Cardiff since this was missing from the Glasgow Master.

Sorry I could not get Bob C to tweak the knobs, but what you hear is how it was. Check out Midnight Rambler - one of the best versions I have heard.
