King Crimson_1969-10-17 Fairfield Hall – Croydon, England
I received this audience recording in a cassette tape trade from
a trader* in Sweden in the late 70's. The sound quality is very bad
with lots of distortion. The recording contains an unknown track
called "Trees" which has since been released. Also it has the only
live version of "Pictures of a City" with Greg Lake in the band.
Lineage: Maxell UD C60 tape > Tascam 302 > Sony PCM M-10 at 96/24 Wave
files > Audacity for volume adjustment > CD Wave Editor V. 1.98 for
tracking & splices > 96/24 and converted to FLAC 8 using Trader's Little
Helper V2.8.3.182. Tape copy, conversion and editing by Michael Cariola.
01_Epitaph (last part) (1:29)
02_Trees (5:02)
03_Pictures of a City (14:26)
04_In the Court of the Crimson King (7:19)
05_Mars (7:00)
Total Time: (35:16)
Band:
Robert Fripp - Guitar
Ian McDonald - woodwind, keyboards, mellotron and vocals
Greg Lake - bass and lead vocals
Michael Giles - drums
Pete Sinfield - words and illuminations
*The trader had a label called: "How to Walk Silly Records and Tapes"
based on a Monty Python skit. The cassette had an insert with a logo.
This person also produced bootleg LP's which contained the same logo
on the label. One of those bootlegs was Peter Gabriel "The Egg was a
Bird" released on red vinyl.
