Remastering notes:

Used WAV from "Zeppelin Digital"
No Pitch correction
Levelled audio
iZotope Ozone 3 (EQ'd, Loudness)

General notes:

Far from being a good taping originally, a remaster could not turn this recording into
a great one. It simply made it a bit more enjoyable to listen. The audio level
fluctuations were corrected, and EQing was applied separately for each track as they all
have different EQ range. The EQing was mostly benefitial to the drums, and to a lesser
degree to the guitar when the rest of the band isn't going full blast. During those loud
parts the original recording is just completely distorted and little could be done about
it. Overall high and low frequencies were boosted, and non-destructive noise reduction
was also applied. The original fade-in and fade-outs were modified to recover the most
of the music available. You'll hear a couple of seconds more on here... The source used
was checked for pitch and did not need any adjustment.

Lineup:
Keith Relf - Vocals/Harmonica
Jimmy Page - Guitar
Chris Dreja - Bass
Jim McCarty - Drus

Notes:  This is the first night out of two at the Shrine for the Yardbirds.  The recording itself is pretty good, better than most from this era.  Jimmy would have been playing his Telecaster at this point and you can deffinently hear some shades of early Zeppelin in his playing.   Note the use of the bow during I'm A Man and parts of Smokestack Lighting that are note for note HMMT.  Also an interesting almost complete covers of the Velvet Underground's I'm Waiting for the Man as well as Donovan's Hey gyp (dig the slowness).

Lineage: unknown (received in a postal trade)

Quality: very good audience - a bit of chatter here and there, and a few audible pops and crackles, but not enough to spoil this great show.

Notes: Two tracks seem to be missing according to the Sugar Mountain setlist website. Four tracks - from the Complex Sessions in 1994 - were presumably added as bonus tracks on the original Crystal Cat boot release, but I have removed these as they are commercially available on the Complex Sessions video.

Artwork: YES, BUT DOESN'T MATCH DUE TO REMOVAL OF BONUS COMPLEX SESSION TRACKS

Neil Young 1995-06-24 Golden Gate Park Polo Fields San Francisco, CA

   NEIL YOUNG & PEARL JAM
   ----------------------
"Neil Jam: Mirror Ball Live"
Golden Gate Park Polo Fields
San Francisco, June 24, 1995

The story behind this one-off performance is well known. The scheduled Pearl Jam concert was cut short when Eddie Vedder fell too ill to continue. Neil, who a few months ago had recorded the Mirror Ball album (which was just about to be released) with Pearl Jam, and apparently was originally supposed to guest on a few songs, then stepped in to prevent a riot. Some of the attendees were none too happy about this turn of events (as can be heard on the recordings, especially when it becomes clear that Eddie is not coming back) and many left. Little did they know what was in store...

While the "Neil Jam" toured Europe supporting Mirror Ball later in 1995, this unique performance of a good chunk of the LP (plus choice other songs) perhaps remains its ultimate live representation - until an official version surfaces from the vaults, perhaps of the Dublin show which was taped by a video camera crew.

NOTE for this 2024 EDIT kayjaybee December 2024

Another RESEED of one of my favourite shows that has fallen off the tracker. Some real stars in this show, the massivley underknown John Doyle (John is one of the engine room of the Transatlantic Sessions, member of Solas, musical director for Joan Baez, one of Mark Knopflers touring band etc etc. Casey Driessen , at this time, Casey would have been only 23 , a recognised phenomenal talent at this very young age, (Tim would have been 49, John 32 and Dirk 34).  Dirk Powell has toured and recorded with musicians such as Joan Baez, Rhiannon Giddens, Eric Clapton, Buddy Miller, Loretta Lynn, and Levon Helm and many others.  An Andrew Wallace soundboard show , many thanks to the original uploader and taper. The mastering of this show and probable upload to bt.etree was done by Bill Koucky (whynotus).  Bill is probably responsible for introducing me (and many, many others) to most of the Bluegrass artists I/we have collected over the years. Eternal thanks go  to whynotus.

I have NOT altered the sound quality of any of the show but I have joined/retracked and labelled it using Audacity/CD Wave Editor/ Foobar and Traders Little Helper. As is my preference any chat of longer than 30 seconds is a separate track.

Sounds Excellent. True Digital SBD, except that it was patched
with analog cables and then reconverted to digital via Mark Schatz's D8.
His tape cuts at 2:04 mark, cable was then switched to another D8
to continue recording. I edited out blank space, and smoothed transition.
23 seconds missing total. Hardly noticable.

Another RESEED of one of my favourite shows that has fallen off the tracker. I have NOT altered the sound quality of any of the show but I have joined/retracked and labelled it using Audacity/CD Wave Editor/ Foobar and Traders Little Helper. As is my preference any chat of longer than 30 seconds is a separate track. I originally downloaded this from bt.etree on 2/7/2012 where it had been uploaded by wharfrat73. Many thanks to wharfrat73. If anyone knows the name of track 13 please help.
