Mick Jagger 1988-03-28 Osakajo Castle Hall Osaka, Japan(MJ in Japan Vol.8)

28th March 1988

OSAKA - IV

Volume 08:

28th March 1988: MICK JAGGER. Osaka, Japan, Osakajo Castle Hall

This was the last show of Mick Jagger’s Japanese tour.
We have two sources:

Source #1 can be found on ‘Last night – live in Osaka’ (no label) of which I assume that it is a reworked version of ‘Change Day’ (Rebirth RS 88328).

Source #2 is an average mono recording that can be found on CT Production ‘Far East Collection – Vol 7’ and 5 tracks are also on ‘Stone Alone’ (TNT 940141/2).

Here you will find the ‘no label’ version: the recording is now channel equilibrated (+10 to +20% for the right channel), declicked and phased (thanks Captain!). It’s slightly completed with ‘Change Days’ for the opening.

CD1:

01 - opening

the first 31 seconds, with the MJ message are coming solely from ‘Change Days’

12 - Honky Tonk Women

The only version I found was saturated with dozens of drops: I upgraded some but lots remain.

NAGOYA - II

Volume 07:

26th March 1988: MICK JAGGER. Nagoya, Japan, International Exhibition Hall

For this show 2 audience recordings are circulating:

Source #1 can be found in ‘Foxy Jagger’ (VGP 128) and in a version sent by nzb (which is better focused even it’s slightly saturated).

Source #2 can be found in ‘Far East - Vol 6’ (CT Production) which often misses or has a very altered channel and a very muddy sound.

I kept the source #1, but because the solo sections (drum solo, guitar solo) were deleted, I completed it with the source #2 (decelerated by -2,9%).

Both sources are now declicked and channel equilibrated (+10% for the right channel).

We also have two song extracts coming from the video of a TV report which was very damaged (lots of micro-gaps). As bonus I added the reworked version of the soundtrack (all micro-gaps restored little by little with Audacity).

BlueTurns2Grey will upload this TV report simultaneously.

CD1:

12 - Harlem Shuffle

13 - Foxy Lady

01 - Party Doll

02 - band introduction

03 - You Can’t Always Get What You Want

04 - Radio Control

Note a gap between both sources

05 - Drum solo (source #2)

06 - Guitar solo (source #2)

07 - Gimme Shelter

08 - Start Me Up

09 - Brown Sugar

10 - It’s Only Rock’n Roll

11 - Jumpin' Jack Flash

12 - encore break

13 - Sympathy For The Devil

14 - Satisfaction

Bonus: Soundtrack from a Nagoya TV report

15 - TV report with extracts from ‘Throwaway’ and ‘’Satisfaction’ coming from the 26th March show.

The original version was altered by dozens of micro cuts: it’s now restored with micro patches.

25th March 1988

NAGOYA - I

25th March 1988: MICK JAGGER. Nagoya, Japan, International Exhibition Hall

For this show 2 audience recordings are circulating:

Source #1 is the ‘The Ring Of Fire – part 4’ version (ROTH 027/028) which is lossy.

Source #2 is ‘Far East- Vol 5’ (CT Production) that often is missing or has a very altered channel and a very muddy sound, but it’s lossless.

Volume 06b:

(merged version)

Doing the merges I discovered that in the CT version (source #2), the second part of my recording (after ‘Radio Control’) is from the 2nd Nagoya show!

This is why the merges run only until the drum solo. I added to this incomplete version the opening and the first part of “Honky Tonk Women” that was missing in the previous version.

Here in the left channel you’ll find the source #2 reworked and on the right channel it’s source #1 reworked

01 - opening

coming solely from source #2

02 - Honky Tonk Women

first part coming solely from source #2, the last is merged

03 - Throwaway

04 - Bitch

05 - Let’s Spend The Night Together

06 - Beast Of Burden

07 - Tumbling Dice

08 - Miss You

09 - Ruby Tuesday

10 - Just Another Night

merged except the last 5 seconds which come solely from source #1

11 - War Baby

the first 55 seconds come solely from source #1 and also 16 seconds from 6’12 until 6’28 (because of several gaps in source #2).

12 - Harlem Shuffle

13 - Foxy Lady

14 - Party Doll

15 - band introduction

the first 17 seconds come solely from source #2

16 - You Can’t Always Get What You Want

17 - Radio Control

Merged, except the last 15 seconds which come solely from source #1

Volume 03:

18th March 1988

OSAKA - III

18th March 1988: MICK JAGGER. Osaka, Japan, Osakajo Castle Hall

For this show we have two recordings:

Source #1 is ‘Ring of Fire’ (ROTH 021/022) or Chris Tresper Production: both miss ‘Sympathy For The Devil’.

Source #2 is from a video by Jointrip, "From Osaka To Tokyo" (JTDV-009). Unfortunately, it is incomplete (it corresponds to the second part of the show and many titles are edited)… but it contains ‘Sympathy For The Devil’.

Here I present the reworked source #1 (declicked, slightly amplified, channels balanced, and a refocused sound). It is complemented with 'Sympathy For The Devil' from source #2.

As a bonus, I present a few tracks used by BlueTurns2Grey for the video, which he will present separately.

CD1:

01 - opening & intro

at 1’13, I used a 3 second patch to restore the left channel

06 - Lonely At The Top

07 - Beast Of Burden

08 - Tumbling Dice

09 - Miss You

10 - Ruby Tuesday

11 - Just Another Night

12 - War Baby

the first half of the song is altered by severe microphone problems that I tried to attenuate

13 - Harlem Shuffle

14 - Lucky In Love

15 - Say You Will

16 - Party Doll

17 - band introduction

CD2:

01 - You Can’t Always Get What You Want

02 - Radio Control

03 - Shoot Off Your Mouth

04 - drum solo

05 - guitar solo

06 - Gimme Shelter

07 - Start Me Up

08 - Brown Sugar

09 - It’s Only Rock’n Roll

I deleted digital noises from 3’38 to 4’54

10 - Jumpin' Jack Flash

11 - encore break

12 - Satisfaction

13 - Sympathy For The Devil (coming from the video)

14 - outro (coming from the video)

Bonus (merged versions):

These merges come from the reworked versions on the right channel and the reworked soundtrack from the DVD ‘From Osaka To Tokyo (Jointrip JT- DV 009) (duration 26’30) on the left channel. They will used by BlueTurns2Grey for his video.

15 - Shoot Off Your Mouth (complete)

(3’46) the complete song and the first 9 seconds from the drum solo
