On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary since the release of The Alarm's debut American single, 'The Stand', and first tour of North America as guests of U2 during 1983's 'War Tour'.

The Alarm will host a three night 'stand'/ residency in New York,
Boston, Chicago and Hollywood, Los Angeles this November 2003.'

Wednesdays 5/12/19 of November at The Middle East, Boston, MA.
Thursdays 6/13/20 of November at The Elbo Room, Chicago, IL.
Fridays 7/14/21 of November at The Knitting Factory (West),
Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA.

At each venue, Mike Peters and The Alarm will perform two sets a
night, playing all the Alarm classics. Such as ' 68 Guns', 'Spirit Of
'76', 'Strength', 'Rain In The Summertime' and of course 'The Stand' plus on different nights, some of the more rare Alarm tracks like 'For Freedom' and 'Third Light'.

U.S. fans will also have their first chance to hear live, some of the
new songs from the inspirational 'In The Poppy Fields Collection' -
the first recorded music in over ten years to carry the hallmark of
The Alarm. Mike and the band will also be inviting some very special guests to play support and/or to join them onstage during the course of the 3 week event. In doing so Mike Peters and The Alarm hope to bring the spirit of The Gathering to the USA.

Not my own recording, but a low generation copy bought at a record shop in The Hague not long after the show. Tape flip between track 11 and 12, and some minor cuts throughout but all songs are complete (no music lost). Cover scan included (as if that's any use to anyone - no idea if the pic was actually taken at Loreley).

Not the best mix ever (bass pretty upfront, guitars way in the back), but a great show. This was the first Alarm tape I had and I've always enjoyed playing this. Good to hear it again...

I saw Mike Peters a few years back in California doing a solo gig with mostly Alarm material and thoroughly enjoyed it. It might be still on the tracker here. I decided to check out the full-band experience when I saw it booked nearby. I was very happy I did. This was a great, energetic show and Mike sounds great. I think his voice got better as he warmed up. A hot August night in Dallas didn't slow Mike down, he was running back and forth to 3 different microphones all night. The mix was good, great crowd around me, and the recording is up fron and in your face!!

Another "Thursday Night Live" (broadcast on Thursdays, not necessarily recorded on Thursdays) from CFNY FM.  A very spirited set from the Alarm, but then again, they were known for that.

This is number 40 in an ongoing series.... Well, I'm finally getting around to digitizing my 700+ cassettes (at my wife's insistence--she wants them out of the house), so I'm going to start posting some goodies here. I taped many a show in the Toronto area from the late '80's to the late '90's, and also recorded a lot of radio broadcasts, mostly from CFNY, 102.1 in Toronto. Hope you stumble across something you like, or even a show you were at!

Hi there! After closing both my Master and Special series I took a break from seeding, enjoying life and most of all
preparing for a new series! This is not going to be as frequent as my previous ones, I'll be seeding shows from time
to time so don't expect massive volumes here.

Why a "vintage" series? Because music in the 70's and 80's was really something...so different, so special with "that" kind
of sound which you don't find anymore. That was the era of real music without the internet, of long tours and enjoyable live
shows spanning from metal to new wave, progressive, jazz, fusion, pop. So many bands were born and disappeared during those
two decades.

I am then celebrating the 70's and the 80's and their unmistakeable sound in this LDB Vintage Series. You will find many bands
I have never seeded in the past but that I still enjoy listening to. Most of these come from low generation tapes that were traded
around that period, many radio broadcasts and overall lots of surprises.

It's been a while since I last posted something for my vintage series. I found out that in my archives there are quite a few Alarm shows and since it will soon be the first anniversary of Mike Peters passing, I thought I would have a go with some vintage Alarm. 

At one point in the 80's, the band had the potential to become as big as U2 or Simple Minds but because Peters left the band in 1991, it would never become a fact. But I still enjoy their music although it sounds a bit "dated", very much 80's sound.

Quality is ok, well listenable. You will enjoy it if you like The Alarm

comments:
 although this is the tour of their 1987 album, 
they play one new song in here from the next one 
change (1989) called "a new South Wales", protesting the 
economic (and enviornmental) deterioration of the band's homeland.
Three songs heard in  1985's "strength" are included too
(knife edge,  absolute reality and spirit of '76), and at least 
three from the 1st "declaration" album, 68 guns, blaze of glory
and howling wind.
