Notes: I got hip to Van Halen a bit late even though I was "of age" to really discover them when their 1st album came out. But my head was buried in Hendrix and Zeppelin. I then read in Circus a review for "Fair Warning" which stated "Van Halen is the only Zeppelin we have had recently" or something to that effect, essentially saying  the band was Zep-like. That caught my interest and I became a fan. I missed the 1981 tour, but did catch them on the 1982 tour, about a month before this show. The "Diver Down" album was slagged a bit "too many covers" but I thought it was pretty good, with Ed creating some new sounds on guitar. Here the band is playing in the huge Carrier Dome in Syracuse. The recording is clear enough, but hissy and slighty distant. It is also incomplete. Alex's drumo solo fades out and the recording fades back into "The Full Bug" joined in progress. There also other cuts, the last two tarcks are mere fragments. The show runs about 85 mins, so it's possible the taper only had a 90 min cassette and had to edit as he went. Not sure of the gen, but I got this shortly after it began to circulate. Enjoy it for what it is and Merry Christmas to all!!!
