Press note:
A Change Of Mind, As recorded at the Hilton Hotel showroom in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 3rd, 1973, Dinner show is the next release from Straight Arrow (SA 2009-13-02), scheduled for early June, and will contain the previously unreleased Las Vegas September 3rd, 1973 Dinner show.
It is very strong concert, containing the only known 1973 version of 'It's Now Or Never', rare 'Polk Salad Annie' performed only twice in 1973, part of 'Jailhouse Rock' and for 'rare live excerpts' fans there are bits of 'Guadalajara', 'Miracle Of The Rosary' and 'Farther Along'.
This show was taped by the same person as Dec. 02nd, 1976 concert released as 'Last Vegas Opening Night' and once again for this CD release, an original mastertape will be used. The sound quality is excellent - regarding the off-line (Audience recording) source.
As a bonus, 4 tracks from the closing show are also included. They originate from the B-side of the same master tape cassette. All prior releases of these songs from the closing show derive from a substandard source.
Concert:
A very good and entertaining concert with appealing setlist. Perhaps even better than closing night. At the beginning our man sounds a bit tired but at least since Steamroller Blues we have a decent show. Elvis is in a good and funny mood, we witness how he tries to drench Glen Hardin with water and how he plays with a toy dog during Hound Dog. Besides this we get a wild version of Polk Salad Annie and excellent renditions of An American Trilogy, How Great Thou Art, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face or Mystery Train / Tiger Man. You shouldn`t miss this concert !! (Ciscoking)
