Hardly Strictly Bluegrass-Day 2

Day 2 was a recording success but a rough day aside from the recordings.  I woke up at 3:30AM
after getting to bed at 12:30 AM.  I figured since I was up I might as well go get the spot. I
crossed the Bay Bridge at exactly 4:20AM and got to the area before 5AM. I looked for parking
and found a spot that fit my little car.  There was a few inches in front and behind the car so
it was a legal spot without any red paint.  The car in front of me was blocking the driveway a
bit but didn't think anything of it as I was legal.  I got the ideal spot at Banjo stage so I
could get Steve Earle and within minutes others arrived so timing was good.  I put down a
blanket at Rooster to catch Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale and returned to Banjo stage to kill
time.  Friends arrived and all was set.  At about 10 AM I went to Star stage to catch LP.  A
friend asked me to record her and I was curious since she has one big hit that sounded good. I
ran into a few other HSB friends over there and was talking with them when the soundcheck
started.  Of course I had to recoord it and I was looking forward to full set.  After soundcheck
I convinced someone to let me record from their spot (sweet spot of course) in exchange for cds
of Bonnie Raitt from day before.  Fun set but I realized at end I thought I had locked recorder
on pause.  I later learned that wasn't the case.  After the set I jammed over to Rooster stage
in time for a fun set by Buddy and Jim.  As soon as that finished back to Banjo stage.  The Tim
O'Brien was fun and ion with two other tapers.  That set was followed by the Hollar Down The
Hollow set which was a prosession of special guests.  I have to say it was pretty cool watching
Warren Hellman's grandchildren performing with the band.  Then came Jerry Douglas who was great.
The highlight of the set was Allison Krause coming out to play.  Major surprise and worth price
of admission.  Finally Steve Earle pit on a great set.  At the end of the show is when the day
went to hell.  I went to my car and it was gone.  I asked a traffic cop and he said I was
probably towed.  At this time my cell phone was almost dead so I tried to reach my girlfriend
for some help.  She lives in SF but was sick and wasn't thrilled with me staying over and having
a 4AM wakeup.  Unfortunately she was asleep on Nyquil and unreachable. I assumed she had gone out
and we had a big arguement over it Sunday.  Not good on any accounts. I was finally able to
confirm my car was towed at was on other side of  SF.  I walked about 30 minutes to where I could
get a cab but none would pick me up.  Admittedly I looked homeless with blankets, chairs, cooler
and backpack so after awhile I took a bus.  It was a major pain with all my stuff.  I got off bus
and walked for about 90 minutes to where my car was held.  It is not a great area and walking
around with my gear was not fun.  Finally, I get to my car and it costs me $700 to retrieve it. I
finally got home around 1:30AM.  I woke up Sunday at 5AM and was in no condition to drive so went
back to sleep.  I woke up to an email and a phone message that people had spots for me but I had
no energy left and passed on Sunday.  Fortunately the two bands I wanted were covered by others.
