Here’s a remaster of the recent EVSD Landover 1975 release I did at the
suggestion of AudioGuy on Royal Orleans. Sonically the original tape is a
bit of a mess - something really weird was happening with the high
frequencies. You hear it in the cymbals and the ‘ess’ sounds of the
vocal. The bass was mixed rather loud in places. So I did my usual thing
and tried turning it into something I might like to hear - although
this recording involved some serious EQ work to get it where I wanted.
Some people justifiably dislike the reverb - to this, I can only offer
in mitigation that my love of live Zeppelin was born listening long into
the night in my early teens to the cavernous echoey atmospherics of
audience tapes recorded at places like the LA Forum - and so this is the
vibe I inevitably try to recreate when turning these lifeless
soundboards into something I would happily play.
Note. There is a buzzing on the original that comes through in the
quieter parts in a more pronounced way. This may be removable. Maybe at
some future point.
