07. Rattlesnake Shake -> Underway ( -> ? )
08. Oh Well
09. Madison Blues// (cuts after 3:15)
Total Time ::: 58:05
::: Quality ain't too shabby but for some fan noise (see below). Check the samples & dance the Greeny way if you so choose.
::: PLEASE NOTE: Came labeled 1969-01-17, but is surely 1969-01-19 as Peter says, "This is our last night playing for you" & thanks the audience "very, very, very much".
::: Warts : Something like a fan in the vicinity of the microphone is a bit odd in some of the quiet bits, but overall, I think yer needs will be quite satisfied regardless. There are 20 seconds of volume overload at the beginning of track 4. Levels are somewhat erratic & I tried to fix them. The taper adjusts them, sometimes the channels were adjusted separately, then turned up quite loud while Peter is speaking between songs, then didn't always get turned back down - mostly all fixed.
::: From the same week as the "Shrine '69" released concert CD, but a completely different setlist, so some serious musical food to chew yer ears on.
::: "Rattlesnake Shake" clips in right at the start (microphone turned back on?). "Madison Blues" cuts after about 3/4ths of the song.
Recording Information ::: unknown equipment -> master audience tape -> 1st generation TDK SA-90 cassette, Dolby B on. NOTE: Such incredible variation between channels I originally thought this must be stereo, but realised it was mostly extreme volume adjustments. Maybe built-in mikes in reel-to-reel machine & very, very narrow stereo but just not my field of expertise. Many hours of work evened it up quite a bit.
Playback 2011-08-10 ::: 1st generation TDK SA-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs -> Audacity (fades &/or glitches, dropouts, volume adjustments, microphone bumps, claps, no EQ) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded week of 2012-01-11.
Line-up ::: Peter Green - guitar, vocals // Jeremy Spencer - guitar, vocals // Danny Kirwan - guitar, vocals // John McVie - bass // Mick Fleetwood - drums, percussion.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
CoolSonics 031 ::: Many thanks to the original taper & trader! I believe he is on DIME, but I'll leave it to him to say hello & fill in missing info only if he so wishes. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This is a very cool hour of entertainment. You seem be able to hear everything going on & the audience certainly doesn't get in the way at all. There is some weird noise in the background - probably someone will immediately figure it out, but I couldn't. Sounds like might be a fan or something. I have other tapes from the same taper with the same noise, so it could be equipment related, but I think it has something to do with where he set his equipment while recording (or possibly the microphone picking up noise from a bad fan motor in the reel-to-reel deck - but that seems unlikely). You really don't want to know how many hours I spent on this patching most of the dropouts & mike bumps, & a bit of the clapping, but mostly fixing volume issues - which were huge. What's great is that many of the distractions are gone & the music is much more enjoyable as a result. Creedence Clearwater Revival & Albert Collins were also on the bill (I have neither). Peter seems to be in a great mood, talkative & appreciative.
More recordings on the way, making up for years of slow netspeed. Kudos to Zongo for life support, Lochner for mikes & much more, & to Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace) for over 30 years of trading & friendship. Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
