Vanishing In The Denmarkis Misterclaudel’s latest release in their Beatles live chronicle series.  The label is attempting to release all of the available live Beatle material systematically in the best possible sound.  This new title documents the first three tapes from the band’s summer tour of Europe in 1964 with Ringo’s replacement Jimmy Nichol on drums. 

Listening to Beatles audience recordings is a chancy business and is best reserved for completists.  What you here is really a better representation of Beatlemania than The Beatles live and this release is no exception.  The Copenhagen and first Brokker tapes are just bearly listenable.  The first audience recording from Brokker is the weirdest one I’ve heard in my entire life.  I can hear the band playing, but there are no vocals from the stage!  It doesn’t really matter because the Dutch audience know all the words and are happy to sing along.  Who needs Paul and John anyway! 

The final two tracks are from a radio broadcast and the excerpts of two songs are audible from the evening show in Brokker.  A radio commentator speaks over the music (in Dutch, of course) and is interesting but not essential.  The actual performances are good as far as I can discern.  The Beatles’ don’t miss a beat without Ringo on the drums.  The packaging is the usual exemplary Misterclaudel issue with rare photos from the airport and actual gig on the cover but overall this is for the Beatles completist only.
