Gone To The Atlanta is another release in their Beatle live chronicle series and is one beauty of a release.  The Atlanta tape is a very good and enjoyable soundboard recording.  Beginning with the introduction of the band, we’re treated to a complete, wonderful concert.  Misterclaudel advertised this release as having the complete tape for the first time.  Previous releases cut out in “Dizzy Miss Lizzy”.  This title also cuts out but then cuts back in and goes to the end of the show.  The soundboard used is very good with slight distortion in the high-pitched screams.  But thankfully the audience is low in the mix although still obviously audible.  Such is the affect of Beatlemania!

The performance is very good.  The band, and especially John, is in high spirits and clearly enjoying the show.  Ringo delivers an intense “I Wanna Be Your Man” and the highlight of the show is the latest hit “Help”.  Paul breaks a string and John fills in by telling the crowd to “hum and talk amongst yourselves” while they all wait.

The rest of the disc contains the complete concert three days later in Minnesota.  Like other audience tapes this is for the Beatle completist.  What is most audible are the girls talking with themselves and screaming during the performance.  I would rate this tape a three at best.  The other material from San Francisco, although from professional sources is again mediocre in quality.  This aside Gone To The Atlanta is focused upon the Fulton County Stadium show and should be the motivation to seek out this title.  It is an excellent release and is highly recommended by the excellent Misterclaudel label.
