After a rough 1994 in which Townes divorced, he spent 1995 touring. His income was essentially now limited to preforming, this required Townes to be on the road for much of the rest of his life.

Performances during this period were hit and miss, this show in Genova from the RS master tape would certainly fall in the miss category. Townes is noticeably inebriated, slurring words at times along with some struggles on guitar (apparently he would continue to drink after his set and appears extremely inebriated during Eric Andersen, Rick Danko & Jonas Fjeld headlining set as seen in the youtube video on their set).

With that said there are still a number of chill inducing moments, "Pancho & Lefty" stands out and it's nice to hear a rarely played "Summer Wages".

There are also some fairly long somewhat rambling stories as one does when partaking a bit too much of liquid spirits. Though this performance can't be considered top shelf for Townes, he was a national treasure and every performance has at least a glimmer of his brilliance, this one included.

Thanks to RS for taping (our second RS Master) and to my old friend MR for getting it in my hands.

Joe Ely is also listed on the bill but he does not appear during Andersen, Danko,
Fjeld's set and if he was there (online gig guides show he was in Italy but no specific cities are listed) it appears RS may not have taped him.

Thanks to RS for taping (our second RS Master) and to my old friend MR for getting it in my hands.

Thanks as always to Goody for the tune up, this one ran really slow and Townes doesn't sound quite as "loose" as when I first started working on it.
