Graham Parker & The Rumour 1979-06-24 Paramount N.W. Theatre Seattle, WA

Graham Parker and the Rumour - Paramount N.W. Theatre, Seattle WA 1979-06-24 FM reel-to-reel complete show - A blistering performance with great sound by one of R&B's greats (Bill B. tape) It'll knock your head off (mp3 sample included)

Hey now, hey hey...

It was said that "Squeezing Out Sparks" required your attention when listening to it, that it made you listen. THIS show on the other hand takes that little noggin of yours and clamps it in a vise (with the jaw discreetly dropped open) for 80 minutes. Sort of like a book you can't put down, why would you be doing anything else. You can't anyway, so why bother?

Setlist (Runtime just under 80 minutes):

KISW Intro
Discovering Japan
Local Girls
Soul On Ice
Don't Get Excited
Back To School Days
Howling Wind
Heat Treatment
Stick To Me
Mercury Poisoning
You Can't Be Too Strong
Passion Is No Ordinary Word
Clear Head
(Hey Lord) Don't Ask Me Questions
Protection
Saturday Night Is Dead
Nobody Hurts You
Soul Shoes
Encore Applause
E: I Want You Back
E: Pouring It All Out

Many thanks to Bill B. for the great recording.

Lineage: KISW broadcast ->Maxell UD 35-90 reel ->Akai GX-400D-SS ->Echo Layla 3G ->Sound Forge 6.0 ->Flac via Flac Frontend, level 6, sectors aligned and verified. Nothing was done to the recording, you have it as I got it.

Enjoy!

comments:
This is part of the Mona Lisa's Sister tour, actually this is a back by popular demand
show since Parker had just played the Metro club in Boston about a month before this show.
he mentions playing 4 nights at the Paradise club in 1979
I think this was near the end of the tour, and this recording is the entire concert,
with all the radio announcer encore break and closing commentary, and almost all of the
opening radio announcer babble.
The only tape flip interruption is between songs after track 12,
I've spliced it so you may not even notice it's there since this is a seamless recording
(no fadeins/outs).
The broadcast was clean that night, no interference or problems, and my tape has
probably only been played maybe 3 or 4 times since I recorded it, so it still sounds
like I recorded it last week. Hard to believe it was 28+ years ago...
how time flies when, oh well, even when you're not having fun (and your airplane has no left wing)...
This can be broken with disc 2 staring with track 20, which makes a 73:20 1st disc,
but I recommend starting disc 2 with track 17, which makes a 1st disc of 64:26.
Either way will work fine, this recording is seamless (no fadeins or fadeouts for disc breaks).
