The Replacements 1984-10-01 Jockey Club, Newport, KY

The Replacements - 1984 10 01 Jockey Club, Newport, KY

The Bob show.

This show was obviously a mess. Paul adds Bob’s name in many of the songs. Members of the audience even on stage and 'help' the band.

hobillyjerry
This was their second show there-Tommy Stinson was wasted,Record Alley Dana and myself started teasing Bob and this was the result. This was the tour when they had the Big Blue R they stole from K Mart-I had hwlped work the door so I paid Paul Westerburg who pocketed several hundred and gave his Twin Tone Manager two hundred and said thats all they were paid. Said Twin Tone was using them for money....

D. Andrew:
The date is correct. My band Shanghai Dog (Vancouver, BC) also played this show. During "Hitchin' A Ride" Westerberg's guitar strap unhooked and he was standing on one leg propping up his guitar, trying to play and sing. I jumped on stage to strap him back up and as I did that he grabbed me around the neck, shoved the mic in my face and we sang the refrain. Funniest show of our tour.

Show notes:
Jailhouse Bob cuts on the tape flip. A couple of other cuts and drop-outs ... Any help on tracks 15, 28 and 31. I know they have done track 31 before, it isn't Bye Bye Johnny by Chuck Berry.

Traffic from Orlando to Tampa on I-4 was awful on the way to the concert. A 1.5 hour trip took about 3 hours. Not good. It also was raining for most, if not all, of the way over. I also heard a terrible story about another taper who got busted and his gear confiscated at the Miami show a couple of days earlier. All of this wasn’t making for good karma in the moments before the show started. But, an enormous rainbow appeared as the rain stopped just before show time. I got my gear in no problem, and all was well. Another amazing show by U2, perhaps better than in Miami where Bono seemed a bit taken aback by the heat and humidity. This is a different recording than Kevdogg’s. His was from section 207. I was in the general admission floor area at the front of the mixing desk area. Let me know what you think of the quality. And as always, trade freely and never sell.

different recording than cb LB-0598 as the talking and crowd noise do not
match up such as around t10 0:40;
in comparison this has more hiss and is harsher but is also clearer and more natural sound;
this is the same recording on schubert LB-4389 based on same crowd around t10 0:40;

Prior Notes:

CD-R --> EAC (WAVE) --> FLAC Frontend (FLAC) --> Dimeadozen --> You!

From Brucebase:
"Audience tape - Tour rehearsals. These are predominantly full versions with some minor style differences
in some cases. "It's My Life" is a different arrangement but is cut and "The Promise" is the full E-Street Band
arrangement only played once live. Only known live "The Way" and "Spanish Eyes". The song "Broken Hearted"
appears to be a Bruce original so it can only be assumed that this is a Darkness outtake which has not appeared
from the studio takes as yet."

I've received that one recently from a trade and thought it's worth uploading here!
My artwork is included - hope you like it! Sound samples below.

Love it or leave it!

I got this show EZT,last year.(I don't remember seeder name,sorry.)
I felt...clear enough, but less dinamic and unbalance level.
I added the dynamism a little, and arranged how much level.
It came to be able to enjoy it considerably.
no use noise reduction,
no use enhance effect.
enjoy it.

Editing/Mastering note:
Right channel of the master Wav audio had some problems maybe because of the mic connection. The audio became damaged.
Before the editing/mastering, right channel was deleted. The left channel content was copied into the right channel.
It became a mono sounding Wav file even if it had 2 channel. In other words, left channel and right channel were absolutely the same.
Then a virtual Stereo software was applied. Editing/mastering was done and the final result is an awesome sounding bootleg!

This was a really great show on a Sunday night at Winstar. Winstar rarely does concerts on Sunday and that may be why
it was not very well attended. It surprised me but it also worked out since I got a great seat for it and for the most part
the audience was pretty attentive through the music.  As I am still messing around with some new gear I actually ran 3 configuations
during the show. This is my usually equipment and it came out very nice. I really like the new music as well as the way they did
some of the classics.

Enjoy!

Rec. Info:

Recorded by dear DIMENEW at app. 5 meters left side of stage center. Another excellent recording though not as good as the 12/22 tape. This recording has a lot more of useless chatter
and some more boomy bass. I was thinking about some equailization, but decided to give you this with warts and all other possible disturbances. Just because I think that it sounds fine
the way it is. You'll decide for yourself, but be warned as on today's x-mas cake'n'coffee my dear sister-in-law stated that your fellow Spacebandit can't hear anything at all...hmm,
maybe only that what I do not want to listen to?

---
Second (or better first) of the CURE's X-Mas shows at Hammersmith Odeon. I've decided to put up the gorgeous sounding 12/22 show for x-mas eve before, in contrast to my usual politics of
posting by date. Seems like a good decision and I hope you all out there enjoyed the show. My own history about THE CURE is short. I really loved the "Disintegration" album way back those
years. Not too many of those are played here except for the "hit" songs, but I missed the title track as well. But, huh, I'm not that expert on THE CURE. So I better keep my mouth shut
and invite you into another 40+ songs..SB.

Surprisingly, this one doesn't seem to be in circulation and I'm not sure why.  It was an FM broadcast that apparently went out across the nation (DJ makes reference to this).  Yet, I've never seen it in the Pretenders bootlegs web pages and it rarely shows up in traders pages as well.

So here it is, and it's a very good show.  I took this straight from the cassette and did no processing at all, other than to remove the unctuous Sky Daniels wherever possible from this.  This was during the height of when WLUP-FM (The Loop) was a Chicago rock powerhouse.  Black "Loop 97.9" T-shirts could be seen everywhere in Chicago and elsewhere, and this was just about a year after the infamous Disco Demolition stunt at Comiskey Park.  To me, Sky Daniels represented everything wrong with rock radio and rock DJs at the time, and so he has been excised.  But there is enough of him left if you want a taste.

The Clash 1981-05-23 Stadio Comunale Firenze, Italy

The Clash
Impossible Mission Tour
Stadio Comunale, Firenze - Italy
23rd of May 1981

I received this in a tape trade many years ago.
The original source is a double vinyl in shops to the time of that tour.
This is the second of the two audience recordings rated on blackmarketclash website.
The audio is quite decent. It's saturated in many volume peaks but is still in some way pleasant to listen.
I've worked a little the sound applying mainly de-crackle, de-click, DC and 60 Hz hum removal filters for
reduce distortions and clean up the sound as much as possible.
Probably was the most awaited italian gig ever of the band which was attended by over 15,000 people.
It was also the last date for that tour.

blackmarketclash notes:
2nd complete audience recording
A tape from a second source recording has the best sound of all, although this is maybe a matter of
personal choice. It too is a copy or two off the master and so suffers from a drop in clarity and crispness.
It’s winning characteristic is it has a more exciting dynamic sound which captures the brilliance of
the performance the best. Mick’s excellent guitar playing is heard very well indeed, bass is quite good
and vocals are clearer and less distant.
On the negative side there is considerable distortion that gives a somewhat shrill sound at times.
Chat near the taper may be a problem to some but actually adds to the atmosphere of an historic concert
and is not detrimental enjoyment-wise. An upgrade to the master would be very welcome indeed as the master
recording was clearly a very good one.
Bankrobber is complete on this source but an edit on The Leader loses about 20 seconds.
By adding The Leader from the first source to the second source you have the complete concert in the best sound.
A very enjoyable bootleg with a sound that is good enough to really appreciate the excellence of
The Clash’s performance.

This may seem like an average Green Tour recording, which is
true with one important exception: the first (and most
unusual) performance of "Low", including Bill Berry's
full-strength drumming.  After this performance, they didn't
play the song again until mid-September, and by that time
it sounded much more like the "Out of Time" version complete
with quieter percussion.

My friend Karen R. recorded this on her walkman, and this is
from my first-generation copy.  Unfortunately she missed
the last few seconds of "World Leader Pretend", all of
"Begin the Begin", and the first half of "Pretty Persuasion".
Does anybody have an upgrade?  I'd love to have one!

*** Michael stops "Afterhours" and asks everyone in the crowd
to repeat the word "rhubarb" over and over again.  He explains
that in the early days of movie-making, actors in the background
of a scene would do this to create the sound of quiet
background conversation.  I'm not sure if it worked the way
he thought it would, but it certainly was memorable and weird!
certainly was weird!

Recordings from the May 19, 1978 rehearsals for the Darkness tour have circulated since the late ‘70s in various forms. The essential collector resource Brucebase lists no fewer than 36 known songs rehearsed that day and recorded by ambient microphones set up somewhere in the house to presumably provide the band or crew with reference tapes of the performances.

It seems fair to say that the versions of those recordings traded, burned to disc and posted all these years have been mediocre at best, suffering from considerable hiss, pitch problems and overall varying fidelity to the point where listening was a bit of a chore. If you’re like me, you’ve played this stuff once, maybe twice, registered it in your mind, and very likely never played it again.

This might change that. In the wake of the passing of our partner Jared (the J in JEMS), the JEMS Archive has moved south, giving me the opportunity/burden of going through thousands of tapes. Why this particular DAT jumped out at me, I’m not sure, but I’m very glad I played it. While only running a little over an hour, this recording of the Darkness rehearsals is a material sonic upgrade to any version I had heard prior, to the point where I felt I was hearing these renditions for the first time. This tape now feels like a solid audience recording of the proceedings, clearer and fuller fidelity without a lot of hiss in the way or pitch problems.

As I started to research what was on this tape vs. what’s logged on Brucebase, I recognized that it contained what I might call the sweet spot of the rehearsals, including the three-song run of at-the-time unreleased songs, “Spanish Eyes,” “The Brokenhearted” and “The Way.” It also contains a previously undocumented version of “Rosalita” from the rehearsals, along with a previously unknown bit of piano playing that seems to vaguely echo several songs of the era. Let us know what you think it sounds like.

Unmercifully, the stunning performance of “The Promise” is cut here, but what is there is stunning.

It’s all quite fun to hear, from the bit of samba noodling before “Candy’s Room” to a heartfelt “The Promised Land” that closes things up. Samples provided.

Thanks to Jared for obtaining this recording in the first place and preserving it on DAT for me to find decades later. His original notes say he did a lot of work on the tape with outboard Dolby units and EQ. We thank him for that. We also thank mjk5510 for his continuing role in post-production support on nearly all JEMS releases.

R.I.P. Jared

Bob Dylan 1994-10-07 Orpheum Theatre Boston, MA

Excellent set from Bob and band.  Torrent has applause in balance and hoots, etc. removed or reduced.  It is a fresh transfer from my master and therefore will differ from previous uploads of this performance, if any.

Faults: Essentially none, but since this is an audience recording made with concealed mics the occasional background interference can be heard.

Great show from the band. Sure nice to have Christine back.
Regular screamers and whistlers that are part of a live show.
MTS Centre is a great venue for the big name bands.
Same set list as other shows.
Enjoy
