Back Story:
Listen to what Peter Green says before playing "All Over Again"  He was obviously troubled at the time.
About 5 months later he left Fleetwood Mac.
He gives a stunning performance on this track!

Mick Fleetwood remembered this night;

"That Dead song with the line 'busted down on Bourbon Street' (Truckin', from the LP American Beauty), that was the night that Fleetwood Mac played with them at The Warehouse in New Orleans.
Owsley had spiked the water fountains and after our set, John McVie was out of it, and couldn't handle the fact that the Dead were going to get up and play!
So he stood in the audience while the rest of us jammed with the Dead.
The audience loved it - a massive freak-out."

"That was what caused Owsley eventually to go to jail.
We were nearly there.
We were following their car back to the hotel, absolutely out of it on acid.
I drove the car from the back seat with my feet while somebody else worked the pedals from the side - nobody was in the driver's seat.
Oh God!"  Mick nearly weeps.
"We got lost, and by the time we arrived, they'd been busted . . .

"Back in those days with acid and mescalin and stuff, we had a laugh - to start with.
But these were isolated incidents.
We weren't drug orientated at all, really.

******************

I intended to make a friend a copy of a 2 CD bootleg entitled "Dead Bust Blues".
Then I listened to it and as always my mind was thinking "I could fix that" every time a sound glitch went by.
After a couple dozen I stopped.
These tapes were riddled with numerous small dropouts and a large number of ticks and pops.
Soundfield balance was also leaning over to the right ear.
Most evident listening over headphones.
This bootleg set was also missing "Tiger" from the second night and some dialog.

Hoped I could do better than the bootleg.

I dug around in my hard drives and found that I had downloaded both of these shows in the past.
Listening revealed that many of these issues were also on those copies and before I knew it I had a project.

Repairs...
January 30th sounded much better from the download and that was used as the source for the repairs.
Reviewed the first night fixing technical issues with a combination of Adobe Audition 3.0 and iZotope RX4 advanced.
Dropouts were either patched from the opposite channel or the hole was filled using iZotopes interpolation repair tool.
Similarly clicks, ticks and pops were repaired with Adobe Audition's healing function on the disturbance.
iZotope removed a faint tone at 15.8 KHz.
No list was made of the repairs but it took many hours and quite a few passes to complete the first night.

January 31st sounded better on the bootleg and "Dead Bust Blues" was used as the source for the second night.
This night had many similar issues although not nearly as many dropouts to repair as the 30th.
First order of business was to fix the stereo balance issues and iZotope's automatic level match worked perfect.
The 30th was superior to the 31st with a much clearer sound and much better separation.
Again iZotope has the EQ match and this was used to create a similar sound between the 2 nights.
Adobe stereo field expander was used to move the sound outwards a little returning some separation back into the recording.

Amplitudes were increased as much as possible by reducing stray peaks individually as needed giving 6dB total increase.
A limited form of compression but done as spot repairs in the places needed to avoid clipping.
This results in a more powerful sounding recording.

Inserted the dialog before "All Over Again" and also inserted the missing song "Tiger" using the Sirmick torrent.

Wish I could have found all 3 shows (1-30, 31 and 2-1) from the same post that disc 1 came from as it is superior sounding.
If someone has them I would revise the second night and repeat this effort on the better sounding source.

With the increase in amplitude this became a bit noisy in the quieter places where someone is talking or tuning up.
Some inverting noise fitters were used to reduce the high frequency noise (hiss).
Used a very light filter so it does not create those metallic or underwater sounds that are so much worse than the original hiss.
Again this was conservatively used and mostly on the non-music segments between songs.

Unable to do anything to fix a couple of issues.
I could hear tape bleed through in places and there is an AM radio station in the background of the 30th if you listen close enough.
Most likely this radio signal was picked up by unshielded wires that went to BEAR's recording equipment.
Never could quite pick up the call letters of the station but could hear a weather report during a break in the music.

Originally spread over 3 CD's it now includes the first track of the second night at the end of Disc 1.
This allows what has been in circulation of the 2 nights to be on 2 CD's.
Used the artwork for the "Dead Bust Blues" (remember that was where this all started).
Modified as required.

Well it's been a week now and I can finally send this to my friend.
Hope the effort was worth it and everyone gets to enjoy the ORIGINAL Fleetwood Mac.

EDITING NOTES:
This show would probably be included as one of the best recorded examples of Fleetwood Mac circa 1970, at least in an unofficial format.
The sound quality is generally a very good soundboard source, claimed to be taken from a 1st generation cassette that was recorded directly from the master source.
It is unknown what format the master source of the recording actually is/was, but given the time period, it would have to be some sort of tape.
Whether it is a cassette or a higher resolution reel to reel recording is unknown.
Nevertheless, when the performance begins, there seems to be a serious mix problem that is more than likely due to a problem with  the original mix as opposed to mechanical flaws due to tape deterioration and/or transfer.
If you listen carefully to before the performance while the band is tuning you can hear them mention possible problems with the microphones.
Although many parts of the recording have unbalanced channel problems, the more significant apparent mix problems, resulting in inaudible vocals at times, seem to subside after the first song.
The first track from the source recording, thus, has been heavily edited to create a more reasonable level for the vocal, panned mostly to one side, in comparison with the rest of the recording.
The other tracks have also had amplitude adjustments but to a much lighter degree.
Generally the rest of the recording was much too quiet in one channel and was subsequently amplified to a more audible level.
I have also made some edits to get rid of loud pops and clicks that plague small sections of the recording.
These edits were made very specifically to minute sections of the recording and have no audible effect on the recording other than to eliminate loud interruptions created by unwanted tape anomalies.
I also adjusted the frequency response of the recording, eliminating apparent tape noise in the lower mid frequency range as well as bringing more clarity to the recording in the upper frequency range of the source.
I separated the Introduction/Tuning & Before the Beginning sections from the first track on the source recording into two tracks simply for ease of reference.
The rest of the tracks have also been adjusted so the dead noise and applause at the end of songs is at the end of each track instead of at the beginning of the next track.
I would normally leave it but some of the tracks from the source recording had up to a minute of basically dead air and/or applause before the song starts!
I hope this serves the old Fleetwood Mac bootleg community well.
Enjoy Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac!

Editing notes:
- a few large pops removed
- the first 14 minutes of d1 were heavily biased to the left channel.  I have use the channel mixer and
boosted volume by 4 decibels to correct this.
- vocal presence has been boosted a little using iZotope Ozone
- there was a small gap at about 20:48 on d2t01 which I closed
- volume boosted by 3.4 decibels in left channel from d2t02 3:37 through to the end d2.  It sounds like two
different sources have been used as the sound is cleaner from d2t02 3:37 onwards.

all other editing done with Adobe Audition. re-tracked with CD Wave and shns made with mkwACT

the "Back Story" was also taken from this post-thanks to Sirmick...
