I'm going to try to upload one under-circulated bootleg from every TPHB tour over the next few weeks. Decided to start with this one! Thanks to KS for sharing it with me.

CONTEXT NOTES FOR SHOW:
After touring in 1979-80 to promote their smash third album 'Damn the Torpedoes,' Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released two albums within two years: 'Hard Promises' in 1981 and 'Long After Dark' in 1982. The Heartbreakers embarked on a lengthy US tour in early 1983 to promote the album, but spent the end of 1982 in Europe. Many bootlegs circulate from this portion of the tour -- and the sets from these shows were a bit more varied, particularly in choice of covers.
While this isn't necessarily the best sounding recording, it is unique for a few reasons.
1) As he would do at other shows in England in 1982 and 1987, violinist Bobby Valentino joined the Heartbreakers on stage. On this bootleg, and on the official 'Live Anthology' (2009) release, there's a version of "Louisiana Rain" with Valentino. What sets this show apart, however, is there's a version of The Byrds' song "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" with Valentino accompanying the band.
2) This is one of the only times "Wild Thing" was played in concert during this tour; it was previously played at concerts in the fall of 1981 a few times, and on the Houba Houba French TV show (filmed in the recording studio) in June 1982.
3) This is the only live recording of "The Same Old You" to have EVER surfaced. I have uploaded this to my YouTube channel already, so it may not be new to some of you, but...it's here!
