Before I considered making this project public, out of courtesy I contacted Mark Persic and informed him that I was working on his recording and I would not post
it without his permission. Mark is a real stand-up guy and said I could do whatever I wanted and also if I wish I could take any of his recordings and feel free
to post them on as many sites and in other formats. Here’s a guy, who I consider one of the greats for capturing shows past and present and a real generous
individual. So with Mark’s blessing I moved forward. This show is a classic from Bruce’s run in 1981 in support of the Vietnam Veterans. The quality of this
master recording was pretty good to begin with and all it needed was a little TLC. What I didn’t want to do was make this sound overly processed. I wanted to
preserve the integrity of the recording by not raising the EQ levels too high, but just enough to give it a little more presence. In addition, I made a few fixes
such as a dropout during Rockin All Over The World. The edit is noticeable, but it flows better now. There were some songs where the break between tracks wasn’t
dead on; a few seconds of the beginning of a song was at the end of the previous track. So, I corrected all of those. On Hungry Heart the left channel was a little
higher than the right, so I balanced it. There were a few gaps here and there that I closed. Ramrod is missing a few seconds of the beginning, which of course I had
no way of fixing. All and all this is a pretty solid recording without any major flaws. Some of you will like this and some of you won't. Everyone has their
preferences. The only part I left out of Mark’s original was 1:41 of audience applause on disc 3 which was the first track. My personal taste is not to have audience
applause as a track, which is neither here nor there. However, I left ALL of the audience applause at the beginning of Jungleland and Born To Run.
New artwork was also created for this project
Special thanks to Bob B and Mark Persic for taping and Mark's generosity.
Enjoy!
