Judas Priest
Arco Arena
Sacramento, CA
November 4, 1990
16 bit version
Taper: Karl Lundmark
Gear: Aiwa mix > Sony D6
1st generation tapes mailed to }{eywood for mastering by Rush-Fan
Lineage: 2 Maxell XLII 60 cassettes (1) > Optimus SCT-57 playback deck > Adobe Audition 1.5 (recording at 24/96, speed correction, EQ, peak limiting, splits & fades) > Xrecode II (flac 8)
Although this show may be circulating already, most collectors have unknown generation copies. Although this one is a 2nd gen, RF has provided me with many first gens of Priest shows (he traded with the taper), and I am dutifully bringing them to a wider audience.
This is one of several consecutive nights Karl recorded. As with the others the low end was brought down a bit on this because the kick drums were overpowering. Other than that no invasive processing was applied. A patch was made at the very start of Riding on the Wind, just the title of the song and the first guitar slide, which were taken from the Portland show a few days before. Another patch was made in You've Got Another Thing Comin, this time from the Oakland show the following day. (It's nice having 3 consecutive shows from the same taper)
These are the good end of the Painkiller tour. Halford was still peaking in his vocal abilities. Touch of Evil is notably harder to sing than on the album. Amazing.
