pre-fm-version

From the collection of Hans Devente, aka "Madtaper."

This time reincarnated at http://www.guitars101.com

Broadcasting Tape > Cassette > Nak Dragon (?) > FLAC > Audacity > WaveEditor (splitting | flac 8)

This was already seeded here by mjallen, but this is a upgrade to the previous one. Although the previous version was already excellent it pales compared to this, this is stellar and I don't think it can be surpassed (but you never know).

I can't thank Hans Devente enough for going the extra mile and doing a new transfer from his rediscoverd alternative source (see bellow). So, many thanks to Hans!

It came as one untracked file with a gap in "No Language in our Lungs" when the tape was flipped - luckily with 8 seconds overlap, so I could join the two sides seamlessly. (BTW, this gap - when comparing seemed also on the old version present). I faded out properly, tracked it (like mjallen with an extra applause track).

The show is 82 minutes, so you wont get it on one CD. Probably you can cut out the encore-applause and some other applause to get it on one CD. At the moment, I wanted it untouched.

As others already mentioned this is an outstanding, high energy show - unbelivable, that Andy Partridge was only 10 days away from his stage fright breakdown in Paris.

Track List:

01. Runaways
02. Jason And The Argonauts
03. Melt The Guns
04. Snowman
05. Ball And Chain
06. No Thugs In Our House
07. Senses Working Overtime
08. All Along The Watchtower
09. No Language In Our Lungs
10. Towers Of London
11. Making Plans For Nigel
12. Living Through AnotherCuba
13. Generals And Majors
14. Real By Reel
15. Sgt. Rock (Is going To Help Me)
16. applause
17. Life Begins At The Hop (With Hans Devente on Backing Vocals)

Not recorded / missing are the first three songs, played that evening: Bushman President [tape]; Respectable Street; Burning With Optimism's Flames;

Included are scans of Hans' tape, backstage pass and tour poster.

The accompaning notes of Hans Devente:
=========================================================

THIS HAS BEEN POSTED BEFORE, AS AMSTERDAM 1982

BUT THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL

SEARCHING THRU MY BOX'O'TAPES , LURKING AT THE BOTTOM I FOUND THIS

THIS IS A FIRST GENERATION DIRECT CASSETTE COPY OF THE ORIGINAL VARA BROADCASTING 2 TRACK TAPE, AS RECORDED AT THE PARADISO, FOR THE MOONDOGS SHOW

THE LITTLE DOTS SHOW WHICH TRACKS WERE USED IN THE BROADCAST, THE REST WAS NOT.

I TOOK EXTRA CARE IN TRANSFERRING THE TAPE.

THIS SOUNDS BETTER THAN THE OTHER ONE ,ALREADY CIRCULATING
WITH A GUEST VOCALIST AT THE HOP (ME!)
